I have been saying this all year, it's not the physics, they are good, it's the ANT that needs to be redone!!!

man i like this demo. maybe because i am fully awake now and thus I am more aware of what is going on while playing the game. It definitely is better when you have a good mind for it, with some high upside for those who get good at the controls. People who tried it at 3 am should give it another shot at like 6 tonight, when they are fully awake. Just saying.

I went an dloaded the demo before I started sifting through the board because I did not want anything clouding my judgement for this game. After playing the demo I can agree with most that it is not to our liking.

Graphically I knew going in that it would be a step down but it is a HUGE step down imo.

I did not see any sig J's granted I was not looking for them. The game looked very dark and that could have been my tv setting. Everything seemed to be on hyper-mode. I just could not get a feel at all for the speed.

It just does not feel like b-ball. I can't see myself paying full price for this game. I feel EA will need every bit of the 3 year plan to fix what has happened to this series. Never thought that EA b-ball could be worse than Live 07 and it turns out that I was wrong because this game is just bad imo.

I will give the demo a few more runs and hopefully I will change my mind but based off the demo there is no way I would buy this game this year at the $60 price point unless I find something under the hood of this game that sways me. Peace!!!

i really don't understand why they just didn't build on live 10, because this game has taken so many steps backwards as far as gameplay, animations, and graphics. this doesn't look nothing like live 10 imo. people were sayin this game looks ps2wish and i thought they were just being funny, but after playing it i kinda see where they're comin from. man i had such high hopes for this game!

lol did the passing controls really have to be that difficult? Why not just put it to X as well?

# 406 rudeworld @ 09/21/10 12:04 PM
just played.....and I dont like it at all....controls suck, graphics are worst than that...... maybe its because I am a 2k guy and I'm use to the 2k style but this I actually gave a fair shot..... just way too much going on with shot trigger, its just too much(in a bad way) the audio is nice but after that........ will probably play again because 2ks demo is not enough but.....actually I'm not going to waste my time on this game...... if it comes out like this I would give it a 6.0 for effort, audio and trying something new.

Don't be so sure about that. Some of the review scores might mirror what you're seeing here. The only saving grace for them might be the addition of Jam.

I like the ISO motion controls, I don't think there is anything comparable out there. It is everything else that is lacking. Players just look a bit abnormal. The passing is way to difficult, at least for me right now. I don't like how EVERYTHING is timed to how high you jump to shoot - it isn't realistic. It's a good attempt, but I don't think I will be purchasing the game. Maybe after I give the demo a longer try.

After an hour with the demo, i have to say it's not too bad....I kinda like it. For starters i like the way the game looks, i wish there was more lighting but i always turn color and brightness down for Live and 2k. Now except for passing and playing D on default...... I'm liking the controls, but i like the alternate controls alot better. I love the comentary, and the espn feel this year. I have to say my first impression wasn't good as far as gameplay....I can't help but feel as if EA would had took Live 10 and put it together with Elite 11.......we could've had something special here. p.s Sorry for the big wall of text, i just wanted to get my two cents in.

I'm in the minority but really enjoyed the demo. It has a steep learning curve and tying to remember what does what will take time. I don't get into net physics or shoes, I only focus on gameplay. I can't wait to build up my guy in the online 5 on 5 stuff. I really don't see why all the gripping, but to each his own. For the record I'm getting both games, but elite will get the bulk of my gaming time.

I like the fact the game is challenging. In sports games, it almost needs to be difficult because human vs human will get out hand pretty quickly if everybody could do the same stuff. I think it will reward the guys who really try to learn the game. Just my .02

Guys, this isn't a chat thread.

Post impressions or don't post.

Guys that can't follow this will find themselves looking for another forum.

Enough is enough.

The controls felt awkward. All my shots were bricks. I had to play around with how my thumb would go up with the right analog. Did not feel comfortable shooting in the demo. The dribble system was easy to use. The animations and game play just feel like a game that is dated. Its hard to continue playing the game when it plays so ugly.

I think EA would of been better off taking the year off of the main basketball game and marketed NBA Jam instead. The whole changing of the name to elite should of incorporated a whole new animation and game play engine.

Pared summed up my thoughts as well.

I will preface this by saying I am a fan of "Basketball Games" period. I started with Live in the old days, moved to 2K in '00 then last year I bought both and actually was very impressed by Live.

With that being said, I initially thought the change Elite was making by going away from animations was a good thing. I thought 2K10 was plagued by players "getting stuck" in long animations. I liked 2K10 a lot but it was something I thought Elite was going to solve. It did to a certain extent but I just doesn't accomplish the goal in a "smooth" fashion. It is a bit rigid at times and lacks the "style" that NBA players have.

I agree with a lot of posts on this forum: I think they should have built on last year and added the free flowing mechanics. 2K11 really ironed out all the transitions from animation to animation to a point where you don't get that "robotic" feel that a video game can produce. I am generally not a fan of the, "3 year plan" that developers give us but let's hope that we all can look back and say, "man what an improvement from Elite 11" - similar to the transformation from FIFA 07 to what we see in today's FIFA 11.

It doesn't matter if they are positive or negative. How you explain yourself is more important.

People are actually trying to read through this thread and it is a mess.

Just post what you think about the game and explain why. If you are unsure of examples of what I mean, look to some of our long-time posters.

Pointing things out as I play:

-Gather button is way to powerful. seems like u can use it to get by your defender at will
- The crowd cheered when I stripped/stole the ball with the C's?
-I like the the cpu defense stays in front of your man not letting you get by, but they literally just stand infront of you and will not allow you to get by. I'm only playing on pro so Rondo should be able to use his speed against fisher.
-Saw some good physics based reactions such as players falling/reacting to contact on shots, drives where contact was made effecting the layup/dunk,
-Commentary is better than what I expected, what I heard from the videos commentary sounded boring and not dynamic or live. The commentators react to whats going on on the court pretty well and bring up topics besides whats going on on the court.
-I really dislike that they removed turbo and replaced it with a pass button (I know I can change the controls but I'm trying to give the new controls a chance first). Maybe because the pass button has pretty much been the same for all basketball games but using RT/R2 to pass just doesn't feel right.
-Freethrows are kind of tough, mainly because I'm not looking at the indicators of when to release the shot. I feel like i should know when to shoot just by looking at the players gestures. In game the indicators aren't needed to know when to shoot, I feel like they are necessary if you want to hit freethrows.
-Defensive fouls, even when they are intentional, look like nothing happened. There should be more contact on intentional fouls and even just reach in fouls.
-Some of the jump shots look pretty good. Fisher, Kobe, Pierce, Allen all look good.
-Wish they kept the size up moves. I feel like they add more to the game even if your technically not in control.
-I have seen some travels where my player will jump for a shot and just not release the ball, maybe I hit a wrong button or something.

The developers really set up the disappointment for this game. The way they talked about this game made it seem like once you played it you wouldn't want to play another basketball game because of the amount of control. Comparing this to the 'other' demo and even to Live 10 I feel like the controls aren't a big of a step forward, plus it came at the expense of the animations. I don't see why they couldn't have kept the Live 10 formula but add some of the control changes they have in Elite (shot stick, gather/Eurostep control). I can see the potential of what they did, it just doesn't pay off this year. It is clear that it will take another year or 2 for Elite to get to the elite level, unfortunately EA might not have that much time if the sales for the game plummet (which is likely since so many fans of Live 10 dislike this demo)

i just switched to broadcast view and for some reason i have so much trouble with the controls and for the last few games it seems as if im back to square one. I cant not get past nobody at all

Its like every defender has turned into gary payton

And its so much junk on this thread im going to wait and until re post then ask my question again about the auto-strafe towards the basket and about turbo being patched in

After playing the demo several times, the more I play the more I am liking it.

I will say the visuals could use some work in regards to the uniforms but the controls are excellent. One of my favorite elements is the free throw mechanic. You can miss a free throw on purpose to either direction, short or long because the controls give you that element.

I changed the camera to the broadcast view and I like it much better. Overall, the game is better than people are giving it credit for. However, it is hard to get used to not having that sprint button option. When I pump fake someone, there is a bit of a lag to get around the airborne defender.

This game is AWFUL. I have always been an NBA Live fan and won't go to 2K11 but what I will definitely do is not buy this game and play NBA Live 10 for another year.

I hate the new controls and the old controls are NOT exactly like NBA Live 10. Half the time when trying to pass with the "A" button it throws up an alley oop. Never happened before.

The player movement is not fluid and actually way worse than NBA Live 10.

The clear choice this year is to either buy NBA 2K11 or keep playing NBA Live 10.
