Okay here's the deal, the controls did not seem as responsive going from practice to 5 on 5 gameplay. That auto strafe on defense in my opinon is a game killer. I just hope ther is a way to disable it. Not being able to face where i want to face is not good. And i agree w/ what the others said moving the pass button to R2/RT is pointless and can be confusing at times. Especially since "B(O)" doesn't seem to be all that important now. Rebounding is atrocious, it seems to predetermined and the "animations" at times look out of place. And the number one issue i have with the demo is AI gameplay. There is is absolutely no authentic game calling by the CPU. It seems that all they do is look to take you off the dribble one on one or via a screen. I have come across one pick and roll or any occasion where every player touched the ball on a possesion. In the four games i played KG had 2 looks. That was two out of the 6 times they went to the post in those four games. I hope my experience with the AI is in the minority. But IMO the game is geered towards user vs user. I am an offline User vs CPU player. And since the game seem to lack Authenic AI team gameplay/play calling, i have to pass. Until you guys release video of AI ran Suns team, where i can see actual plays being ran by them, i will just assume the demo represents the final product in regards to AI and that will force me to pass. While every other fault that i mention can be fixed via sliders, this is the one thing i think can not.

Weird logic: They were doing it constantly. Basically feeding me free points nonstop. I would be like 5 points ahead originally, but at the end I was like 12 points or more ahead. I can't remember the exact situation but I think they even fouled me when I was screwing up and a turn over was coming; they essentially saved me from the turnover.

Which reminds me, I cant see the intentional foul animation for some reason.

Elite is a tough sell for me right now. I have fun with it, I just hope it has less rough edges.

2K11 is the reverse. everything else is so awesome, but the controls were frustrating for me, and the game wasn't as fun no matter how many times I play the demo and try to convince myself to love it and let it be the game I get.

Obviously, these are games and I should buy according to whats Fun. and Elite is more fun.

But that's only IF I have to get NBA. I can choose NHL and FIFA as well, both of those are excellent in every way and nearly no rough edges. (I hope this is what Elite will look like by 2012).
get used to the controls is the best thing i can tell you. when i wasnt getting any separation i was just moving the sticks and not knowing what i was doing Im not saying im totally losing the defender but i do get room to drive or pull up if i want to

with the logic thing that is what teams would do if you or up by like 5 to 10 points with less then a min left. It not free points because its not a given that you will hit your free throws. Yea i know its a lil easy on the demo but thats not the ai's fault. and it seems as if the intentional foul animation is just them reaching in. Its not the hugging type animation thats been in the series in the past

And what you are saying about 2k i feel the same way. Im still trying but its still to frustrating with the controls that its not fun. Yea everyone knows elite has its rough edges but at least its fun to me and at the same time its not an nba jam or nba street type fun. Its authentic nba rules realistic basketball type fun

Usually you watch a video and you can't get the true feeling of the game. WIth this video -- you can. It's choppy, ugly, robotic, out-of-sync feeling is exactly how it plays.

If I was EA, I would have taken a year off to refine the game to a point where it's playable to the general public. Shoot, develop this game and improve upon NBA Live 10. Regardless, they risk losing a huge amount of fans by putting out a game this unpolished. Remember, Live was getting trounced and it took a few years for people to come back. We came back but many still didn't. What ground EA made up probably is going to be lost.

The controls will serve us all well but there's just too much else to be frustrated about to play. Madden can get away with this type of stuff since they own the market.

Um Im sticking with NBA Live 10 and getting that other game. Im just not feeling elite.

If one word can sum up my impressions it would be Meh.....Overall it was okay but is there such a thing as too much control? i found myself actually getting pissed off just cause i missed a bunny by that much....I don't know maybe it adds to the intrigue knowing that you actually have the control to hit a gamewinner or miss it....That being said I'm probably going to get more pissed before i get better

Lakers Vs Celtics gameplay. Still getting used to the controls as you will see haha
After watching this video, I really don't even want to give it a shot. Animations are... strange. Graphics made me think of NBA Live 98, though they are better than 98 of course, but 2K blows Elite out of the water in these 2 areas. and the ball/net interaction doesn't look right either. Sorry EA, I really wanted to like you this year, but I'm giving it a no-go.

That's interesting.
that is exatcly what i got from what he is saying especially with the passing

keep this on impressions guys, not critiques of a video

In the Boston Vs LA video I admit I wasn't to comfortable with the controls. But I played about an hour more after that video and really got used to them. I'll be putting up another video today displaying the difference between 1st play and after learning the controls more throughly. Once I get home from class lol

This game will get higher review scores than 2k because sites will give them a pass since it's back to year one excuse.(ala 2k mlb when they changed the pitching) I wanted both games to be good but I think it's 2k for me. Maybe in a year or two they will get this a little better but it's cool they tried.

Did you see my previous post? There is simply a delay on bringing up the icons.

The bumper plus face button combination works immediately. Your player passes as soon as you do it; You don't have to wait for the icons to show up.

Still, a very confusing thing to the general user. Most would think you have to wait. Very bad implementation and I would hope the final is not like this.

I actually thought the game looked much better with that angle because it hid some of the issues with the verticals and animations looked smoother. It didn't appear to look as herky jerky as some other vids with the traditional view.

IDK, maybe it's just me.

This would be a great game if this was 2006. And if this was the first itteration of this game on the next gen systems.I can see the direction in which the developers want to go but by the time they get there no one will be interested. Physics based ...great idea but you gotta have the essence of the game The controls I could get used to but the gameplay is appauling. 2K all the way

+I like that they give you more control over your pivot foot

+I like the fact that I can do standing crossovers and BTB dribbles

-The graphics dont look good at all

-The animations are funny

-Dribbing with the left stick feels weird and look even weirder when setting up the offense. It loos like a crab dribble

-Lack of turbo

-RTP didn't impress me

Downloaded the PS3 demo last night and thought the graphics were somewhat bland; there's a little more visual pop on the 360. Plenty of content to dig into for a sports game demo. Impressions:

- Interesting take on the dribble controls. Had no problems doing moves in the default camera, but had issues once I switched the camera to Broadcast.

- Animations were poor imo. Movement is unnatural and very spastic at times. Movement can look normal one sec then inexplicably speed up. But seems Live has had this problem for a while. Really didn't like the feel; the players lacked a sense of individuality.

- For all the talk of real time physics, physics was something I felt was completely lacking. Ball physics seemed slightly improved from past Lives but was still poor imo. No real discernible weight/movement with the players that I would think would be apparent with RTP

- Commentary was serviceable but bland. Play-by-play would call out the player w/the ball... and nothing else.

Overall really wasn't anything to keep me engaged/wanting to play it any further.

I've always said they are the McDonald's of the videogame industry and as a business model that is great but for gamers like many here that are looking for hardcore simulation one stop sports videogame shopping is not gonna cut it.

Where Does LIVE...ooops err Elite go from here???
Why don't you try the demo and actually post impressions and stop cluttering up the thread?

You can write a blog too.

well I guess I should say something too.........WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember watching the movie "TiTanic" at the end the band was on the ship and they knew that the ship was sinking so they kept on playing since there was nothing else they could do......lol that's how I feel after playing this demo......sorry EA but the ship is sinking..........seriously!!!

Now I will give you this the controls are good and with time will be great but man what happened to everything else..yes the crowd is good, the pace of the game is okay..not great just okay but the net physics and some of the shooting animations are just done badly. The commentation is simple and bland. The shooting mechanics on default are rewarding when done right, I switched back to the classic controls and still came away with the WTF feeling, nothing is making me want to buy this game..now I will say in the practice mode you have great control going on but when we get to the game...it's like "HELP"............steals are good and I did feel a little bit good about the body up defense but seriously ReAnimator and Stepsix....this can't be what you guys are banking on....really.....???

I would respect you guys and the company more if you guys would just not release this game untill it is seriously over hauled in the animations department, graphic, net physics, shooting, dunking

heck on default controls I was having the time of my life just trying to figure out how to rebound....lol the R2 button is funny stuff.....who's Idea was that to put passing and switching men to that buttton....wow....... the momentum is sorely lacking and the players have really minimum weightedness to them...okay I will just stop and end with this.....EA basketball is in need of some serious framerate work and alot of work on the presentation .....I can't in any way buy this game in the state that it is in right now....sorry
