I am honestly surprised that the 49ers are tied with Arizona. Having lost Kurt Warner and Boldin, I will be shicked if they even "have" an offense this year. The Cads were the poster child of "one trick poney" these last few years. The 49ers aren't great by any means, but they are the best left in the division without question. It's their division to lose.

I am also shocked by NYJ being better than NE. Yes, the Jets played well in the post season, but NE won the division last year and I don't see why they wont again this year. The whole team had a bad game against the Ravens in the playoffs. I just don't see NE doing that again this year. I don't expect Brady to hoist a trophy this season, but...

I tend to agree but these ratings seem to have a layer of logic that most disagree with on some level.

I was surprised to the see the Lions so low still. I'm not saying that they should be in the 80s by any means, but i think theyve made enough improvements to their d line and offensive weapons to jump into the low 70s. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a better record than Chicago this year.

... of course it's still a complete mystery as to how these ratings are calculated or if they're just totally arbitrary anyways, so perhaps the point is moot.

I know. that totaly isn't like when NE went after "trouble makers" Correy Dillon and Randy Moss

P.S. I am a NE fan as well and back when 2k5 was new I actually started a Patriots Franchise and traded my 1st round and something else to the Vikings for Randy Moss. If you remember, NE "didn't have any receivers" back then, although I am a fan of Troy Brown. Also in Madden 07 I made Mike Singletary my Head Coach and made Nolan my DC. It's cool when things you do in the game play out like that in real life. I also picked up takeo Spikes off of the free agency one year instead of Philly. that's about all the real life stuf f I can remember right now, but cool story bro.

I honestly think that the "play now" and online team ratings are an overall team rating Donny assigns to them. This is just conjecture on my part. When you start a franchise mode, look at the team ratings and they are different. Do the same thing when roster updates come out, the team ratings hardly, if ever, change. however, they change a lot if you start a new franchise.

I also recall Donny saying something last year after the Richard Seymore trade that that would lower NE's rating by a point or two and will raise Oaklands.

Honestly, do the franchise thing and see what the team ratings "really" are. I think that is a way to meta game online play as well.

ummm so everyone agrees with the Eagles rating.???
because i think its horrible. lol

Departures: McNabb, Westbrook (missed 8 games), Kevin Curtis (missed 13 games), Reggie Brown (9 catches in 2009), Shawn Andrews (not healthy past 2 years), Jason Babin, Darren Howard (33 years old), Chris Clemons (situational player), Will Witherspoon (Great player, didnt agree w/ release), Chris Gocong (more of a 3-4 linebacker; wrong defense), Sheldon Brown (great Eagle, didnt agree with trade), Sean Jones.

Arrivals: Mike Bell (powerback, change-up to McCoy), Hank Baskett (Great Special Teams player, forget the SB), Darryl Tapp (Good pass rusher, wasnt used at all by Jim Mora jr.), Brandon Graham (high expectations), Ernie Sims (Great OLB, makes plays), Alex Hall (DE/OLB. Gocong-like), Trevard Lindley (impressed in this weeks OTAs), Marlin Jackson (out for the season), Nate Allen (Starting FS).

Didnt include other draft picks.

The only Major losses we had were McNabb, Will Witherspoon and Sheldon Brown.
Eagles expect that Kolb will do fine (i do as well). Ernie Sims is a great addition at linebacker and people are forgeting that Stewart Bradley is returning this season. Ellis Hobbs, Joselio Hanson and others are battleling for the left CB spot (Hobbs expected to start, Hanson will be Nickle).

Other than that though, every thing else looks fine.

Our rating is right b/c we lost too many proven players and now have alot of unknowns

Lol. The homerism REALLY needs to stop, lol. I think the Seahawks rating is about right. Even though they improved A LOT this offreason with the additions of Leon Washington, Russel Okung, and Earl Thomas via the Draft, Walter Jones retiring WILL hurt the offensive line (which would've played subpar anyway), unless Okung comes around quickly. Plus, there's a lot up in the air regarding Matt Hasselbeck's health, and I ain't sold on Charlie Whithurst at all. Speaking of offense, Housh isn't the #1 reciever like his contract might suggest, and Deon Branch WILL get injured again this year (he ain't all that good anyway. He's just a waste of space). And unless Lofa Tatupu and Marcus Trufant stay healthy, the defense will suffer. IMO, it's San Francisco's division to lose. Now, will they lose it? Yes...

# 96 CardsFan52 @ 06/05/10 02:14 PM
Cardinals rating is just about right maybe a one point increase. Did anyone catch the new camera angle on the FG attempts, it looked like a over the shoulder cam, also it looks like the sprint overlay has been replaced with a Verizon overlay.

# 97 OG_McNabb @ 06/05/10 02:25 PM
I think people forget or don't know that Boldin was a Beast before Warner and Fritz came to the team. When he had garbage around him and throwing to him. Just saying. His problem is injuries.

# 98 CardsFan52 @ 06/05/10 02:38 PM
Very true OG, Boldin has always been a very productive Wideout, great YAC, hits like a LB, and can still make catches in traffic. He is and will always be my favorite player.

And Flacco is maturing QUICKLY. Last year he drastically cut down on alot of things he did his rookie season. Even so, he still threw for 3,600 yards last season, with Boldin and more depth at TE he can get 4,000 easy. There's just way too many recieving options for Flacco now. He can go to Boldin or Mason, target Heap or Dickson/Pitta, look at Clayton or Stallworth in the slot or even dump out to Rice or McClain. There's just too many guys with great hands running around that someone's going to be open.

And I think I might give you O-Line even though Grubbs is one of the best guards in the league and Gaither and Oher are probably the youngest and best bookends in the league. I'm calling it right now though. Grubbs and either Gaither or Oher make Pro Bowl. Gaither would have made it last season if he weren't injured for 5 games. It's a shame Oher didn't make it since he dominated at both RT AND LT effortlessly when needed.
LJ Smith. Do not mention because he's not going to be in the picture. We have Pitta and Dickson. smith will be gone. Leave it alone though. We have Jets week 1.
