can you turn off the pitching motion analyzer? the fly ball spot locator? and all of the help and stat overlays? any word on a ps3 demo?
thanks
From the menu pics it looks like you can turn off ball trail and dynamic ball indicator but didnt see anything for pitching bells and whistles graphics. I'd like those off also but don't see it?
More power to you guys who have decided to buy it based on the demo. I'm still gunshy. Looks good, plays and feels pretty well, but I've gotten burned too often. I'll have to rent it first and then read up on the boards.
Looks like a great improvement, but I can't bring msyelf to blindly buy it.
I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I can't even make contact with the Yankees lineup in this game. I've NEVER had trouble like this before. MVP was an only timing hitting too, and I was good at that. For some reason, I just can't seem to gauge the speed of the incoming pitch. Also, is anyone else noticing that once again, balls/strikes are nearly impossible to differentiate? The CPU paints the corner on nearly every pitch. All the talk about the new camera angle making it easy to judge balls/strikes is absolutely untrue if the pitchers paint the corner 90% of the time.
I know it sounds like I'm bashing the game, but I'm still really excited about this game. I'm thinking there are two excuses here. Maybe the pitchers painting the corners is just a result of the pitchers I'm facing. The developers have said that good pitchers will be much harder to tell the difference between balls/strikes.
As for the timing and swing stick, maybe its all just the new camera view. Is anyone else struggling badly with the new view?
I'm desperately hoping this game doesn't play like this at the plate for the long run and it just takes time to get used to. If not, then I'm just going to break down and buy a PS3 this year. I can't go another year without a baseball game.
Hitting is so-so for me. Sometimes i hit, sometimes i dont. The one aspect of this game that is really giving me trouble is stealing bases. I just can't seem to grasp the timing for my life.
Ok, I played the demo like ten times yesterday and on multiple occasions on ground balls to the infield, when I push the right stick to first I end up throwing to third... I thought maybe it was me the first time, but after a few more I am starting to get suspicious. Just a thought..
For anyone playing the DEMO can you check in the Classic Hitting Option if the Sub-Menu is accesible & if so what do ya see? Trying to confirm if Zone Hitting is still in.

You can't change anything (or even access anything) in the demo. Not even the bullpen...
Pitching is real good, though it would be nice to be able to read the type on the pitch selection screen. Also, too easy to throw strikes (hopefully sliders can fix this) and umpires have too big a strike zone.
Fielding, though they apparently fixed the dropped flyball and 1B foot off the bag issues from last year, doesn't seem as fluid as it should be. Whenever there's a base hit, it seems like I'm scrambling to hit the right button to control the OF, who is stationary even though the ball it hit towards him, which results in a late jump on the ball. 3B and SS jump to throw to 1B on routine ground balls.
Batting I'm not sure about. CPU pitching still too accurate, too many strikes. Not sold on the batting view yet.
Graphically, it's improved, but the numbers on the unis are atrocious, quite an eyesore when you're pitching. How could they mess up something that had been fine? Just plain stupid.
Overall, it's a potential rental and definitely a wait-and-see after several credible reviews and a lot of forum feedback.
During the batter's eye, it will show the location of the pitch with a blue line on the strike zone. If it's down the middle, the outside of the zone will all be outlined in blue.
Doug you can. When you pause the game, toggle on the R Analog & the Controller Options will appear
No submenu (that I could find at least) for "zone" hitting. It was one of the first things I looked for. At first I just assumed it was a demo thing...but after seeing those screens from the actual game, I'm getting worried.
OK, is it just me or is it really hard to see the ball coming out of the pitchers hand this year? I have a 50'' plasma and I'm on the edge of my seat leaning forward when I'm hitting. I'm having a good time with this game so far, but I can't hit for crap and I destroyed last years game (for the two weeks I actually played it)
If they cut zone hitting I'm not getting this game, and that seriously depresses me after following this game for the past 2 months. I'm not going to freak out though, because I think I remember a developer insight mentioning that the classic zone hitting would be in the game unchanged from 2k9.
