How do you throw a pitch out? I see the option for the intentional walk. Do you just throw outside the zone intentionally for the pitch out?

Also, has there always been this much cpu assistance and control with the user fielding. It seems excessive.

This happened to me twice in the first game I played, and has not happened again.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet because I didn't read all the pages. Is it just me or is the proportion of the size of the field and players messed up? I have played 5 games and not one double. I have like 8 home runs and no doubles.

It seems like the classic hitting (push A to swing) is more responsive than the stick. It just seems easier to time it that way. I just wish the demo would have included a zone hitting option. I really hope they didn't take that out of the game this year.

I was wondering this too, but it looks like there isn't a pitch out button this year accoriding to the screenshots steve posted of the controller layout. I guess we'll have to do it ourselves.

Nope, seems like they did this to get rid of the fielding problems. I'm not a big fan of how much cpu assistance is given, almost like I have little to no control until I get the ball or if it's not a catchable fly ball.

Thanks for answering. The no pitch out option seems odd to me. I also noticed after I hit the cutoff man I have no control over him to throw to a base after. He will throw to the pitcher.

This is one of my major gripes. I think 2K7 was the last version where you could manually control your fielders. 2K8 and 2K9 had an auto-assist setting that you could not change.

It's annoying on ground balls especially because unless it is a diving or jumping catch the ball is pretty much fielded automatically. I'm hoping there is a setting in the retail for a more manual fielding setting.

That is disappointing. Also, I am not seeing much risk/reward in the throwing meter. I am trying to throw the ball away on purpose and cannot seem to do it.

Downloading demo now, i really hope the option to tweak the throwing meter makes it harder to throw accurate as well as the AI side.

Just makes you scratch your head if this is true. Why remove so many things that a) people use and b) are mandatory parts of baseball.

Obviously they fixed (or are going to fix) the missing check swing, but why is there even thoughts to omit it to begin with? Same with pitch outs.

So much promise, yet so much frustration.

Did they really remove pitchouts?

It makes you wonder how baseball savvy the people at the controls are. We are talking baseball basics here. Also, what are those list of players who are consultants doing? You play the game once and you know right away what is missing. I do not understand it.

The throw will go offline, at least sometimes, when you go into the red area in the throwing meter. I haven't seen one overthrow yet though, so who knows if they're in the game.

Also regarding you issue of not having control of the cut off man, it seems as if that happens when the game decides that the play is over(usually when the cpu runner is done advancing) the cpu will take control of your player(any player, even outfielder) and throw it to the pitcher.

I can't find it and have been pressing buttons just to see if it is there and not listed which happens from time to time.

That's a shame if it's not in the final version.

It is appearing that way but not liking it.

Every time there was a developer Q&A on the boards or someone was collecting questions to ask the developers, I would always ask what level of baseball experience the people making the game have...I never received an answer.

I just think it makes a difference. I'm sure a lot of the people on the dev team are baseball fans, but if you've never played it at a higher level, there is just so much that goes on that they likely just don't know about. To understand why a check swing is important, you kind of need to know how hitters approach their at bats.

How you pitch out?

# 439 puremvp1 @ 02/25/10 06:10 PM
I'm pretty impressed with the demo, I like it....feels better than last year, even looks better.

With that said, still not sold...I'll wait a few days after release, see what bugs pop up "any game killers" and read some reviews but mostly just read about the bugs and bugs in franchise/my player mode

Let's be honest 2k hasnt exactly earned trust with games ..regarding bugs, nba 2k10 is still a mess, mlb 2k9 was well yeah, game ending franchise crash

Is anyone having good success with stealing in this game? I think I've only successfully stolen 2nd when the catcher hasn't bothered throwing down (when I had runners on 1st and 3rd) and on a wild pitch. Every other time, I've gotten thrown out (except once where I stole on Petitte since his pitching motion is so slow)
