I pitched some when I first started and it while I loved the feel of total control pitching, it was way too easy on Pro and got boring quick without any challenge there.
I really just think it's the camera angle and I just can't seem to get used to it. I think an offset view (like MVP's) would really help with the timing, and I thought they had that view in years past, but I think they may have taken that camera angle out based on the screen shots OS posted today.
Overall, I really like what I see from 2K this year.
Graphically, the game looks amazing. Yankee Stadium looks really good and the player models are well done.
I love, love, love the pitching gesture this year. Finally they remove the Meatball and make a pitch with a bad gesture either wind out way outside the zone or a wild pitch. Much more realistic.
I like the new hitting mechanics as well. Not having to "load up" a swing to make contact is nice and gives the power swing more a risk-reward feel to it. I have only hit one HR so far, a grand slam with Teixiara.
The replays (I've seen quite a few) are well done.
The only complaint I have is that the fielding is boring. I don't feel like I have any control over my guys in the field and the game just automatically fields for you. Hopefully this can be adjusted or is different on a higher difficulty setting.
I didn't have any interest in this game but after a lot of time with the demo, I am definitely considering a purchase.
The player of the game that flashes at the end seems to have some problems. It keeps picking someone who has had zero impact on the win. For example I hit a walk off home run with Swisher but Johnson got the honors going 0-1. I hope it is just demo related!

I've had a few times where it picked a "correct" guy and some where it picked someone who was 0-1. Looks like it's a problem with the retail game as well. Should be something that's easily patched. I wonder how it got past any testing though.....

Pretty sure from Chase's impressions it's bugged in the full game as well.
I've found a couple of glitches also. when the ball was hit to my firts baseman with a runner on first, I tired to turn a double play by throwing to second but the ball went to the pitcher coming to cover 1st on the return throw. So I got no one out. that's happend a couple of times. I have learned to hit a lot better but still k a lot. Think I'll be able to adjust that with the real game. I hate there is no check swing. Really influences the game. If you make the slightest move to swing it swings you can't back off on a swing. But I like a lot of the other things with the game those areas do need fixing though.
So last night in the bottom of the first the yankees hit a ground rule double on me......here's where it gets weird. As the ball hit the grass in left for the bounce all the sound cut out and everything went into slow-mo....almost like bullet time in the matrix.
At first I thought wow, pretty cool, but then I realized I had lost the main sound, for the duration of the game all I could hear was the umpire and the PA system.....and get this...airplanes!?! very surreal, seemed constantly there was different and multiple airplanes flying overhead. really odd how the sound is layer, realistic sort of, but really threw me off, kind of like being shell-shocked in call of duty....only it never goes away.
That was the case with 2K9 and it drove me crazy. It seems impossible to steal off the pitcher's first move.
No lie, I took second, third and home on steals. I think it was against Joba. I take a lead, wait for his set motion and let go. It just has to be a fast runner.
I think I have stolen home twice so far in the demo. Something I'm not crazy about.

I think it might have been Joba Chamberlain, but his motion is so slow that it was almost a guarentee stolen base if I got any sort of a decent jump.
I love the defensive swing. I was in a 1-2 count with Jimmy Rollins and I was able to work my way back and draw a walk.
I also surprisingly hit a home run with Ben Francisco and Derek Jeter which was nice, and hit a home run on a contact swing with Ryan Howard which was also good to see.
Something that I noticed though is that whenever I throw a fast ball, it ends up going to the left of where I aim it. So when the catcher calls for a pitch straight down the middle but low, and I aim it there, it ends up landing in the low and inside corner. Anybody else have this going on? I don't know if I'm not doing a good job on the gesture or something because it's never said "missed gesture" or anything like that so I have no clue what's going on.

Funny, said the same thing about the entire 2K9 game.
Had the top performance/star of game give odd results as well. Hope its because of a shorten demo and the AI/CPU having little to go on.
So finally hooked up my 360 after about 3 months (damn it was dusty) and decided to give this demo a shot after getting rid of 2k9 after about 2 months. All i can say is WOW
Pros:
-Graphics
-Cut angles
-Stadium Graphics after a good play or home run
-Frame Rate
-Animations are much better
-Throwing meter
-Batting vs Pitching (So Awesome)
Cons
-game speed seems to be a tad fast
-some gameplay hiccups here and there
-OF throwing accuracy, speed isnt as bad as i thought though
-Batting View although i somewhat like it, the stadium looks weird fish eye wierd may like it in the future but i need more time with it its really different.
It is great to see they busted their hump fixing alot of the things that were plain ridiculous in last years incarnation.
Most likely i will wait a week after it comes out and see how everyone on this board plays it. I hope there is a way to adjust the OF arm strength and accuracy since that is a huge thing for me. Look forward to the sliders.
Quick question... Is there the ability to turn off defensive fielding assist? I don't like not having control over my guy. A little bit, like getting your guy started towards the ball would be fine... But I literally can't stand not being able to jump or dive when I feel like it.
Question 2: Can players collide in the field? Or do they run through one another again?
Lastly, re: pitchouts... I have done it and it was a real pitchout. I have also seen the CPU do it against me, and try to throw down to first once it realized that I wasn't going. Very nice.

Yeah, I've stolen as well, but only (IIRC) against Joba. He's got the goofy hitch in his stretch in the video game. At least I think it's him.
That will upset me if the fielders can't collide. It will upset me more if I don't have the ability to dive/jump when I want. It's too scripted really. I tried just randomly diving, and it wouldn't let me last game.
Also... just FYI, I was able to get a triple last game too w/ Granderson... a shot to the gap in Left Center.

Yeah, I like how you don't have to use the power swing to hit HR's. For some reason, I just can't get the hang of using the power swing. I always swing and miss or foul the ball off. The game definitely doesn't have a HR problem. The A.I has only hit 1 or 2 HR off me, and I've only hit 2 or 3.

I feel like the only control I have over my fielders is when I throw the ball. Reminds me of The Show's fielding...

I agree in a essence, but the way i look at it some of the harder hit balls, because of the way the screen cuts you would have no reaction time and the ball would fly past your infield and leave you frustrated. But you should have your choice though.
Notwithstanding that I am not a huge baseball fan and for the most part I can't read a pitch to hit the ball to save my life (unless it's a meatball), this demo is really fun. I really like how they've done the pitching, in particular.
I'm actually considering buying this, and again the only baseball I ever watch each year is the World Series.
