I think they just stick to their gameplan more than sticking to what works.

I say that because against Denver, they ran Moreno all of 12 times while Orton had a decent day, but threw two INTs.

Moreno, meanwhile, had a 5.0 per carry average. Why didn't they pound it at me.

I WISH the AI would stick to something once they find something that works, especially if that something is running the ball.

I did a franchise mode season sim after adjusting coach sliders.

-I set every team to Run vs. Pass to zero (all the way against the run)

-I set every team to zero aggression thinking it might stop the long run plays by RB's and help against sack totals for defensive players.

-I set every team to zero aggression for offense hoping they'd run more stale run plays up the middle; cloud of dust type stuff to help limit the ypc.

Drum roll...

Nothing changed! I didn't check sacks because I was disappointed enough looking at the ypc totals still being through the roof.

I didn't see an option for quick-simming games ala Head Coach, but I did try simming games 1 at a time but that didn't do anything either. Granteed, this was without changing the coaching sliders so maybe it would matter...but I doubt it.

I honestly think the only way we'd be able to get good rushing stats is to either hope for a 3rd patch (hahahaaha), or play your team's game and then let the AI play each other. This would take hours each week and something I'd never consider. Not to mention the different slider sets you'd need to keep loading in for user vs. AI and AI vs. AI.

Just thought I'd pass that nugget along because some were asking for it.

(Aside: If anyone wants to start a PS3 sim-style franchise mode let's get it together! This game could play great H2H. I would like to get a league which includes cap penalties for releasing players as I haven't notice a single league that has this built in to their manual setups).

Pre-patch AD had 100 yds in the 1st qtr and over 200 yds for the game. In the 2nd half, I started calling more engage 8's and pinch plays. That play calling helped slow him down in the second half.

Just a suggestion if you didn't try that.

It's called up your user tackling slider.

If that's really what's happening and you aren't exaggerating this just a bit, I'd make sure your right analog is working properly - it sounds like, accidentally or not, you're trying to hitstick everything in sight.

OK so I have been using the patch for a day now and I have some comments and questions for everyone. If some of these have been asked before I am sorry, I went through as many of the threads as I could.

First off has anyone noticed a slower game play in franchise mode offline? It seems to me everyone is slower then before the patch. I have the Titans in my 5th year now and C.Johnson is a 99 speed and 99 ACC.. and used to blow by defenders and get through holes quickly and now it seems as if he can not out run anyone or get through holes as he did in the past. Just this morning he was caught from BEHIND for a D.Freeney. and I mean he was WAY behind him and caught him and tackled. Freeney is a 85 speed and C.Johnson is a 99.. does this make sense? I have the player min threshold at 23.. which is the same as where it was before the patch!

ALSO the BIGGEST concern I had was the TACKLING bug.. this WAS NOT ADDRESSES YET AGAIN.. WHY IS THIS?? does ANYONE know? I know they "thought" they addresses it.. but Ian and co. DID NOT! this is the simplest fix ever! I don't understand? can ANYONE EXPLAIN? As we all know there is no TOTAL TACKLES stat?? that's solo +assists = TOTAL TACKLES.. this used to be in all games and now that assists and solos as separated its ok.. ONLY if you have total tackles.!! what happened???? in years last my best 2-3 tacklers would have 150-170 tackles a season.. NOW its 80- 90 for my best tacklers.. BUT the league best is still 15-170... That is a HUGE different and it effects progression immensely! This is not acceptable in my opinion. how hard is it to add a total tackles catagory and add up solos assists?? it CANT be that hard. These are little fixes that take almost no time at all.. that are HUGE in the game. I understand after patch 3 there is more "assist tackles" now.. but what the heck does that matter if they don't add them up?? UHHH nothing!


I like Madden and I hate to sound like I am bashing.. I LOVE the game it self. BUT I am frustrated that they cant fix something so simple as this that means SOOOOOO much to ANYONE who likes defense adn likes to play offline franchices.. I have played 7 season with lions.. 5 with Vikings and in 5th season with Titans.. I have played all the games myself and I am getting sick of waiting!


please anyone help me understand why they wont add total tackles... AND/OR when they will finally add it. Waiting for Madden 11 is unacceptable.

Also anyone else notice the slower gameplay after patch 2 also? I currently have it it on "normal" speed and 23 min threshold.

I hear you, but when game play changes with patches, you might need to adjust your sliders to your satisfaction.

Stats I could really give a damn about. This is where I really see this as a video game, so my full attention is towards gameplay, and from what you posted it looks good.

Hey man don't go to crazy with sliders, and go enjoy the game.
Man since the patch i haven't touched sliders, been playing default all pro, I like the results.

I've noticed a ton of clipping calls in my games since the patch. My penalty slider for clipping is at 50, but I'm getting 4 or 5 calls a game. Basically, anytime somebody bumps another guy from behind, they show a push animation and the guy gets called. It's way over the top.

The tackle stats add up right, in the background. They don't display right.

same thing happens to me, but i know its my analog stick erroring out. it glitches to the right, so i'm sure his stick is busted.

Question... Can I download the second patch without downloading the first. Or will it do it autimatically?

I did not have online access to my PS3 before.

Menus are apparently very difficult things to do. Not something that was feasable to add for a patch. This will certainly be fixed for Madden 11.

aww great. going on vacation from wed all the way till early january so i wouldn't get to play madden with the new patch release for the 360.

but hey, i guess there's something that i'll be anticipating once the holiday season is over and i get the chance to turn on the madden
