This is especially true since they made playing perimeter defense illegal around the time Jordan retired from Chicago.
Because he sizes up the D. Then goes.

Either that or he uses a screen.
But u said u shouldn't be forced to Triple threat?

Agree w/24th and Ray here. You guys know that first step animation in 2K9 where you can kinda explode out of a triple threat and leave your man? I think Live needs to implement a move that amounts to like 1/2 of that animation (if you get what I'm saying).... Like not giving the lane away completely like that, but when you have a clearly quicker player, maybe give you that first half-step where the defender has to work harder to get off your hip and back in front.

The triple-threat I was talking about with LeBron is just him holding the ball before he dribbles.
This move is in the game. They actually explode and throw the ball out in front towards the basket. It is possible.

Can I get a vid of this LBJ triple threat. I'm in Louisiana. Don't watch too much Cavs ball.

Let me get something better than that. LBJ was using screen, no TT move necessary and Gay was hit by screener. Something a little bit clearer.

Right, especially w\ the help D logic they have....itd be pretty solid.

I mean it isnt just LBJ that does this, its just a part of the game....Its a major part of my game IRL...I have a nasty first step lol

Man, if the post game was smoother, I'd be going insane.

I'm finally starting to figure out how to beast in the paint. It's just that there's not much control.

Man, once you start commanding double teams, it's a thing of beauty. The offense totally opens up.

I'm gonna keep practicing.

Would be sweet, because it wouldn't always amount to buckets, and would lend more authenticity to playing great defensive teams, as they'll be there to help and cut you off more, forcing rotations. And lesser defensive teams would just prob give up the attempt at the rim.
So Kobe will go off vs GSW, but against BOS he might have to pullup with a defender on his hip more, resulting in maybe same points total, but more attempts as the D plays the %'s.

I swear devs shouldn't even need to watch games, just follow these threads. Love how we sit here and pick these games apart and we all feel we're normal.
But my girl thinks we're all insane. lol

I just played and had one of the most fun and exciting basketball games I think I've ever had in my gaming experience. I'm an online guy and I think I'll be diving into some dynasty mode this year.

I wish I had a capture card to show some of the things I've been witnessing in this game. I mean this last game I played Kobe was just going off and this is the first time I've actually seen them go to him like this and I've played a good 40+ games. I mean he was hitting threes, down on the low post doing turnaround J's, attacking the basket, it was absolutely stunning to see. I really think the A.I. code in this game is messed up and were in for a real treat once the retail game comes out. Because this last game I played, the A.I. was running plays straight through Kobe, their was so many off ball screens. Nelson got knocked on his a** 3 times from screens. illegal off ball screens, I mean everything. Although I will say 3 in the key needs to be patched, it was right in 09 but it's not registering correctly in the demo.

I also suggest bumping up to Superstar, I've been playing on this level the last couple of games and this is where I'm really starting to see tons of things. The intensity in this game is massive. Im just amazed right now.

That was obvious. Walking size up. Heso drive right. The game's version is not that subtle.

have you bumped the level up b/c if you didn't its automatic on pro and that's for the people who don't really know how to play and the game is easier on that level.

Try putting it on superstar and the cpu will toast you...trust me...thats the level i play on and it is a real challenge.

There is no quickness or acceleration ratings this year. In fact there is only one rating that determines speed and that is speed itself.

Speed is defined as straight line speed in this game and how quickly a guy can get up to max speed while running.

There's nothing determines a slow footed guy or quick footed guy defensively this year. Unless they tied all that into speed itself which doesn't make much sense to me if that's the case. Add in fact that people no longer have to use their feet because of all the sliding and it just makes things tougher to gage as to what defender is slow and what defender isn't now.

Triple threat seems to be the best way to accomplish what your looking for and that's because the only rating defensively is on ball defense. Find a guy with low on ball defense and he'll be more vulnerable vs the triple threat move. Foot speed should also factor in but hey it's not there anymore.

If ther are no acceleration or quickness ratings, how come players are still different to one another in those areas?

It's built up speed....the rating effects how quick a guy can get to maximum speed running forward.

That's different from quickness especially on defense. For example in Football the term could be used to describe a guy with a quick release or in basketball you'll have the same term quick release on the shot.

I've never heard anyone say he throws with a fast release or shoots with a fast release.

I would associate quickness with agility not with straight away speed. Speed is like going from one end of the court to the other and that's how interpret NBA Live's speed rating. Look at it your self and see what the definition says under the rating.

It mentions nothing about quickness

Warren Sapp wasn't a fast football player but he had quickness in short area to disrupt plays and beat a guy off the snap.

It makes me wonder why every single game I've played for sports seem to have seperate ratings for both.

So someone is LYING.....(lol)

But every single EA Game and 2K game I've seen has the two seperated until this year in Live 10.

But who knows maybe EA did link Speed and Quickness together which means since D.Howard has 59 speed which is viewable under ratings should we then assume he has only 59 quickness since that rating isn't reflected at all ....................

Now when I look at his agility it is at 80

So for those who think the quickness is tied into the speed ask yourself which rating mostly resembles Howard's quickness 59 or 80?

# 940 donkey33 @ 09/16/09 08:35 AM
Is it possible the apparent missing ratings are tied in through synergy? I know it was said that some ratings are done away with because synergy is now feeding in more so.

I don't know if that's something synergy captures but that could be a possibility I suppose. Doesn't seem right to just do away with the rating.
