100% agreed. I just saw your post after I posted mine.

The graphics in that Giants vs. Cowboys night game in the snow look amazing (especially the helmets) I have no issues whatsoever with the graphics, as they look really good. EA could focus on gameplay (and presentation) for another year and not touch graphics and I wouldn't complain (I do hope the fields get chewed up though).

Before I talk about the demo..I must say I hate 09. Least fun game I've ever played just flat out sucked. Then I played the demo today and was absolutely shocked at how fun, how good, how realistic, this game was.

Number 1 the Signature styles of the QBs of Romo and Manning (didnt preorder) were sweet and the forced dropbacks made me stay in the pocket 80% of the time which is realistic. The accuracy of passes are now awesome. Passes hit the turf not being touched. Passes are thrown short, overthrown and thrown to the side. And throws on the run can only be completed for short passes. A 30 yard bomb on the run has no chance which is once again realistic. Also there were high and low snaps for Romo which I see every sunday.

Number 2 The weather and injuries affected the game!! Barber hurt his hamstring and he held his hamstring while he ran. He ran routes while holding his hamstring and he ran for a TD while holding his hamstring. In the blizzard, Crayton slipped on the ground right when was about to get open for a TD. Made me mad but amazingly realistic.

Number 3 The presentation (Not the announcers, but the cutscenes) were highly entertaining. Hixon caught a TD in the back of the end zone. And in a dramatic cut scene the ref waived it off. My kicker warmed up as the Cowboys drove for the game winning drive. Players trash talked when they had a big hit on a reciever or celebrated once they got a tackle in the backfield. The crowd was hilarious too as they yelled stuff like my grandmother could of caught that as a reciever drops the ball. Plus I think I heard some swears from the crowd (not sure though) which were hilarious.

Number 4 The slowed down version is good. May not be as fast as the pros but it lets you see what they see. You know have time to see the pocket collapse before its too late. You can see wide recievers break open and holes develop. I may make it a little faster but love the Idea.

All in All, I am definetly buying this game. Plus for next year, add an ESPN presentation with Collinsworth and NOT HAMMOND and it will easily surpass 2k5 presentation and people will forget about 2k5's existence

When people can do it on All-Pro (online's default setting) and can show it to me reliably, we'll jump on addressing it. That hasn't been shown. We addressed this at the root - with better locomotion and momentum. It is much harder to stop on a dime now, especially on All-Pro/All-Madden.
Well Being someone who primarily plays online Ranked Matches, I purposely played the Demo's on All-Pro to get a feel of how it would feel. I Personally could not RC at all.

However, looking at the video that was posted in the other thread, Im only PRAYING that the WR's momentum really cant be stopped while the CPU Defensive Back continues to run down field or stop and stare at the WR strafe.

I have the same feeling but I think it has to do with my tv because my friend's madden 09 looked better than on mine. I've got wicked jaggies and the players look generally less than crisp. I've tried changing from 1080p to i to 720, and I'm on a 42" LCD. I don't know what else to try. Am I out of luck? I'm used to Madden 08 on PC where I could change the resolution and fire up the AA to make it look really nice.

I don't see what the big deal with rocket catching is with most people. Am I defending it? NO, and I hope that it is eventually eradicated from the game forever. My point is that I let the CPU catch the ball for me all of the time anyway. Also, for those that play online, if you play against friends or in franchises that are sim, then make a house rule that you let the CPU catch the ball for you. The only time I can see rocket catch being a big issue is playing against random cheesers online, but then why would you want to play against them anyway? They will eventually find something else to exploit anyhow.

I feel that this animation may be triggering too often and too soon. Sometimes the receiver needs to go get the ball at it's highest point and not start bending backwards to make an over the shoulder grab. I'm certainly not asking for the dreaded rocket catch. But what I'd like to see is more varied animations when going for a catch. I've seen backs in the flats go over the shoulder when all they needed to do is keep running and put their hands up not start bending and twisting for the over the shoulder grab (especially when they do the over the shoulder and adjust and go over opposite shoulder- not a stellar animation IMO).

Maybe the frequency can be altered via a patch.

Ian, are you noticing that this animation triggers too often or are there no "go up and get it"animations. I'm referring mostly to fades and go routes vs. one defender.

Certainly not a bash just wondering.

Ugh I'm stuck on a damn bus for 16 hours, I won't be able to play until tommorow afternoon

First play of the game(Super Bowl demo):

Warner gets hit and throws up a duck, dlineman picks it off and sprints for 6.

Looked fantastic.

Yes, 56" 1080p set. They don't look terrible, just not as good as I think it should look. Probably because the graphics have been reduced a bit for the demo (or I would assume).

Otherwise, I think the game (demo) is good.

Just left my fiance' naked and wanting in the bedrom to play two games on the demo. Yea maybe a little too much information but I wanted to fully express how impressed I am with this game thus far.

+Slowed down pace makes it feel like a whole new game, I am going to have to get used to it but I definately think it was a great Idea. Made running a lot easier made defending harder yet still I feel I have much more controll, etc.

+Graphics and animation blew me away. I didnt see but 3 big gang tackles the whole two games which dissapoints, however when I saw a huge 5-6 man pile up to stop a goal line rush I freaked out like a school girl

+Never cared about presentation so I skipped most of the cut scenes, sorry Ian but hey you cant please everyone.

-I really hope that you can go back to the old play book style, I figure you changed it to let us see all the new presentation but I dont like it, its cumbersome the last play call screen was perfection in my eyes.

-RUN BLOCKING!!!!! sigh... This worries me. I know its beta, but I have seen a few videos, and now a few plays my self where run blocking looks as bad as it has looked in years. It wasnt every play, but on so many plays I saw complete no blocks which is just bad. One play at the hike the tackle literaly turned around and backed that thang up to the outside linebacker obviously letting him in free to the backfield. AND THE PLAY WAS GOING TO HIS SIDE. It was a stretch, luckily because of the slowed down game play, I put a move on him and got caught in a 2 man gang tackle, other defenders got lazy so i broke it and went for 5 more yards and landed close to the first down. I was then greeted with the chain gain cut scene. I couldnt help but smile.

Overall, WOW. I know these run blocking issues arent gonna make it to the last version right...

I've went to OT 3 times so far. All 3 times the kickoff has been returned for the GWTD. Once by me and twice by the CPU.

Not to hijack or anything, but since we are talking about over uses animations. For the love of my insanity please tune the shoe string tackles. I am tired of catching the ball and getting shoe stringed when the DB could have nailed me from the back side.

I'm having a blast with the demo. I was having my way with the Cards until I bumped it up to All-Madden. I got my butt handed to me 16-0. The Cards got 2 FG's on me before getting a TD. With the score 12-0, the A.I. of the Cards surprised me as they went for 2 to make the score 14-0. They got a safety on me late in the game.

The pass rush was vicious when I was at my own 3 and it was 3rd and long. The Cards sent the house and Big Ben fumbled, but my lineman landed on it. It was funny watching the cutscene of Tomlin chewing out the lineman that got beat on the play. I've also seen Big Ben get into it with an Olineman earlier in the game.

I haven't played the Dal/NYG demo, but it must be better being it is the same size with 16 less minutes to play.

Nailed me from the backside just doesn't sound right.

Maybe not for you, but its the new thing. It might reach its way up to Denver soon.

It looks like the over the shoulder catches have replaced the dreaded "spin catches". The new animations look nice, but, I agree, they could use some minor tweaking.

Nothing too bad IMO, I'm pretty happy with how it has been implemented so far.

Don't worry, once you get married you'll both be sleeping in pajamas and long underwear and you'll have plenty of time to play games, LOL.

Everyone has there own preferences when it comes to madden. There are many gamers out there, such as myself that love to play online against random people because (For me) it really brings out the strategy in both players seeking the win. Playing against the CPU, I feel like I already know what is coming, and I find myself running the same defense the entire game, with the computer just picking random plays with no real strategy a human offers. Playing a friend, or a group of friends is ALWAYS fun, but even after awhile, you no what is coming from your friends -- because everyone has there own tendencies, and playing a random person online forces me to play that 'chess match' trying to figure out the other opponents tendencies while he/she tries to figure mines out.

Basically to me, competition and authenticity is what does it for me when talking about madden. And when you have 'Bad Physics' that gets abused by most of the online community, of course that ruins the experience for me...because theres not much strategy involved with my opponent, and he/she is just abusing a exploit in the game.

I hear you man, I see your point. I was just looking at it as cheesers will be cheesers and they will just find something else to exploit once rocket catch is gone, so I couldn't understand the huge uproar about it (not that I'm excusing it either). Hopefully from what Ian is saying Rocket Catch doesn't exist on All-Pro and All-Madden so maybe you will get your wish sir!
