Re: Over The Shoulder Catches

It looks like the over the shoulder catches have replaced the dreaded "spin catches". The new animations look nice, but, I agree, they could use some minor tweaking.

Nothing too bad IMO, I'm pretty happy with how it has been implemented so far.

With the score 12-0, the A.I. of the Cards surprised me as they went for 2 to make the score 14-0. They got a safety on me late in the game.

The pass rush was vicious when I was at my own 3 and it was 3rd and long. The Cards sent the house and Big Ben fumbled, but my lineman landed on it. It was funny watching the cutscene of Tomlin chewing out the lineman that got beat on the play. I've also seen Big Ben get into it with an Olineman earlier in the game.

I haven't played the Dal/NYG demo, but it must be better being it is the same size with 16 less minutes to play.
Yeah, I'm proud of the fact that for the first time since I was a little kid, I'm NOT going to go 19-0 during my season. I mean, I guess I could fluke a few here or there but I doubt it. The game is a beast when played on the harder settings.

Don't worry, once you get married you'll both be sleeping in pajamas and long underwear and you'll have plenty of time to play games, LOL.

Also, for those that play online, if you play against friends or in franchises that are sim, then make a house rule that you let the CPU catch the ball for you. The only time I can see rocket catch being a big issue is playing against random cheesers online, but then why would you want to play against them anyway? They will eventually find something else to exploit anyhow.
Everyone has there own preferences when it comes to madden. There are many gamers out there, such as myself that love to play online against random people because (For me) it really brings out the strategy in both players seeking the win. Playing against the CPU, I feel like I already know what is coming, and I find myself running the same defense the entire game, with the computer just picking random plays with no real strategy a human offers. Playing a friend, or a group of friends is ALWAYS fun, but even after awhile, you no what is coming from your friends -- because everyone has there own tendencies, and playing a random person online forces me to play that 'chess match' trying to figure out the other opponents tendencies while he/she tries to figure mines out.

Basically to me, competition and authenticity is what does it for me when talking about madden. And when you have 'Bad Physics' that gets abused by most of the online community, of course that ruins the experience for me...because theres not much strategy involved with my opponent, and he/she is just abusing a exploit in the game.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Fight for the fumble is godawful.

Blocking in general is crap. Having more blockers at the POA on running plays or having more blockers then rushers STILL means nothing which is a shame.

Eli Manning and Tony Romo are terrible deep ball passers apparently and none of the receivers on either side can get behind the secondary ever.

I took on Terrence Newman up high with Brandon Jacobs and lost abruptly. Pure crap.

Pro tak gang tackling is meh. Not a detriment at all but not all that it was hyped up to be either. It doesn't look realistic and it definitely doesn't have a huge impact on gameplay to me. I am looking forward to how its improved though. Its potential applications might be huge but right now its just eye candy it seems like.

I hear you man, I see your point. I was just looking at it as cheesers will be cheesers and they will just find something else to exploit once rocket catch is gone, so I couldn't understand the huge uproar about it (not that I'm excusing it either). Hopefully from what Ian is saying Rocket Catch doesn't exist on All-Pro and All-Madden so maybe you will get your wish sir!

Re: Madden NFL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Really like the gameplay, I've had some awesome moments in the demo including a last second touchdown that was close enough for the ref huddle cutscene to activate.

I really like the momentum/locomotion improvements, its a really good start on that. Like the over the shoulder catch animation, and sideline catch works much better.
One more thing its really nice that you can throw an effective fade route now.

Pass Rush could be better IMO, not sure if this has the fix. Some of the cutscenes cut off to soon. also depth of field doesn't seem to be too prevalent.

Looking forward to the retail version. best madden on next gen easily atm, could be best madden ever.

You see what you've done Ian? Man there are going to be literally millions of pissed off girlfriends, fiances and wives in around 2-3 weeks! It will really speak to the quality of the game I feel.
