the computer controlled teams in online franchise have no trade logic programmed in. they will give up tom brady for kerry collins straight up if the commish doesnt block it.

I think the no trade logic basically means that the CPU would trade you Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb for Rex Grossman. Basically they would accept every trade offered is the way I am understanding it.

1st and foremost--In the NFL there are HARDLY ANY TRADES. It's not like baseball, where they are trading players all the time, the NFL just doesn't really trade players. Plus, no matter what the logic is, you have other people in the Franchise who can vote the trade down. Just like fantasy football, so I don't have a huge problem with this because we can work around it pretty easily.

As far as the Free Agent thing goes, unless they patch this issue, we may just have to play with "house rules" and the commissioner would have a little bit more of a "job" to do. First off, if they are good FA's and there is no cap, then the original team would just sign them anyway, so there might not be any good FA's if there is not a house rule about having to let them go to FA. Other house rules involving who could sign a player or for how much they could sign them could easily be worked out beforehand. League wide voting would be an extra step, but it wouldn't be difficult.

Yes, I wish there was trade logic and Salary Cap in Online Franchise, but we are all smart enough to devise a way to make it fair if the game doesn't do it for us. We've all done it before. Even if those things were in the game, we'll still have to have rules outside of the game for our Online Franchises.

Damn...

Offline, salary cap and trade logic is still in though, right?

I agree. I don't like it, but it is something that I can live with. I've not bought Madden for a couple of years b/c of certain gameplay issues. It looks as if the things I didn't like have been adjusted, so I guess I will just pick my battles and controlling trades and FA's is a battle that is not worth fighting for me, at least in M 10.

So I wonder what else has been left out of the Online Franchise mode ? Its funny how they can make you happy one minute then pizz you off the next.

Anyone catch in one of Pasta Padre's videos, that there will be NO imported draft class for both online and offline franchise?

# 428 Bonee70 @ 06/04/09 06:58 PM
I've searched this thread but could not find any info.

1. Can you replace coaches/teamowners in an Online-Franchise? Lets say Owner "A" can't finsih a season for any reason, can I put in Owner "B" to play the franchise on?
2. How will the schedule work in the Online-Franchise? Are there options to play the next week when there are missing games in the current week? If so, how will missing games infect Playerprogressions and Injuries (assuming those features will be in the Online-Franchise)
3. If there is really no salary-cap in the online-franchise, how should Free Agency, Player Re-Signings etc. work?

Thanks for infos in advance!

I still can't believe the online dynasty length is only 10 years. Only being able to take our first draft class into their early 30's is terrible. It should be long enough where you will have turnover at all your positions. They should at minimum double the length of the online franchise to 20 years. No salary cap and no trade logic is a joke as well. I am excited about the gameplay changes which have been made but I am disappointed the online franchise thus far. Hopefully I will hear something positive in the near future about this mode. I am extremely happy it is in but disappointed in how it was implemented. Do they have any plans to patch some of the online franchise problems?

At the very least, if there's no cap, the commissioner can announce a salary cap and enforce it by blocking moves that would put a player's team over the cap. While a bit of extra legwork on the users' end, this is an acceptable workaround until the cap is implemented, IMO.

Trade workarounds can be done in a similar manner to how fantasy football works; announce the trade to the entire league, and allow it to be voted down by other members. Again, not convenient, but an acceptable workaround.

Despite the extra work that it's going to take for it to work, I'm still very much looking forward to online franchise.

dude no no and no.

I'm really surprised about the no salary cap / trade logic. It really messed up O.F.... because those are the two key components of managing your team. I'll hold out scorn until release day, and hopefully it has both by then if O.F. is a server side feature that can be modified up till release.

# 433 Rebel10 @ 06/05/09 12:17 AM
I'm going to wait about 7 - 10 day sbefore starting any O.F., so hopefully these have a roadmap to being patched by then. I can live with the 10 years thing, the longest Online Dynasty in NCAA (which is only like 12 games) went 5 seasons last year and they had dedicated guys playing as often as they could.

# 434 boxboy99 @ 06/05/09 12:21 AM
I havn't heard anything about free agency and retirement logic in the O.F. I am really courious how free agency will work. If there is no trade logic/salary cap..... is there even really contracts? I assume there is I guess I will have to wait and see what they announce.

The Madden team has built the online franchise from the ground up in one year. Getting a Salary Cap included is on their to do list, but it just was not finished before Madden 10 ships. Look for it to be included in an update.

# 436 PantherBeast_OS @ 06/05/09 01:23 AM
Well this ain't a big problem since this is the first year for it. This something they will implant next year. I know some of you are getting tired of hearing that. But oh well thats life. Live with it. Online is still going to be fun with th right people playing your league of course.

# 437 judgejudy @ 06/05/09 01:29 AM
or you could:
1. join an online franchise where you know people won't take advantage of the system
2. have a reliable commish who won't allow ridiculous trades. they've already said you can set it up so the commissioner has to approve all signings and trades.

All I can see is ABUSE, ABUSE, ABUSE.....i.e a 80 CB signs with a team for 8 years 5m a year when he should be getting like a 3 year 1m a year deal.

I could just sign everyone to a large contract with little repercussions.
Perhaps you should get become a Computer Programmer so you will know how hard something like this is. Seriously people, I know it sucks, but quit acting like the sky is Falling. If you have a good Commish, you will not see any Salary cap problems until at least Year 2 and by the time you have played a full season, I would be willing to bet that It is patched into the game.
