I'm pretty sure this has been hit in other threads already.

My guess would be server space maybe.

So you can hurry up and get into another online franchise?

This one doesn't bother me too much.

Beat me to it. Thats the way it was, on the pc online franchise.

Maybe you and your friends might be the exception but i would be willing to bet 95% of all online franchises will die before it hits 10 years IMO. Doesnt bother me at all

My guess is because Madden 2011 will be out by the time you get the players to actually start and finish it. Having a 30yr online franchise is like getting your 5 year old daughter a 20pc nugget meal. Too much....and a waste.

Unless all of your guys are die hards and some are willing to play for losing franchises (for there to be winners there have to be losers) I doubt that everyone will want to do all 10 years.

# 392 Deegeezy @ 06/03/09 05:07 PM
Big deal...I doubt more than 10 is even needed.

A truely successful online franchise in which everyone participates likely wouldn't last more than 4 seasons anyway.

That's another thing. In a single-player franchise you might make a run at 30 years if you play a lot (or if you sim some games - even if you play twice a day it would take over 7 months to do 30 years if you don't sim - and that doesn't count playoffs or preseason). But with an online franchise, games are going to have to be coordinated between a number of players, and you are only going to be playing a few games per week tops. So I highly doubt that anyone would come close to 30 years in online franchise before Madden 11 drops.

EDIT: LOL, in the time it took me to post my response, three or four people posted essentially the same thing.

Me and 3 friends had a dynasty go for 20 years in NCAA 09. Then we started another because the old one glitched up and we went about 5 years. Then a new one that was another 5. Now their is 2, each about 3 - 4 years in.

When Madden 11 comes out, all online modes for Madden 10 will stop working.

Having more then 10 seasons is pretty much moot.

*sigh* I tried to warn ya, but everyone told me to shut up.

I don't mind the length at all. I bet most don't even make it through 3 years without crashing due to player commitment issues.

Also, logistically it seems necessary, as Looman said he hand-crafted all the drafts and checked them for accurate progression. That's a lot of players to control, and it's absolutely essential to having a working and believable franchise mode. Ten years probably represented the limit of controlled and accurate draft design the team could do. If that's the case, smart move.

They need continuity. I'm hoping that M11 will provide the ability to import an M10 franchise.

The positive of Online Franchise is that it is hosted on its own server so the Madden Dev. team will be able to make changes to it on the fly. Hopefully this issue will be addressed or Ian & Company will be able to give us a few options to manage it in our OF's.

I won't hold my breath, but that would certainly be nice.
