One thing I just thought of.

Will you be able to advance your Online Franchise from the Web App? This would be amazing.

# 342 stegz @ 06/03/09 01:39 AM
Yep. If someone quits and has to restart, on the main page it tells you how many times the player has restarted.

In our league if you restart you have to explain to the commish why and if it happens twice you forfeit.

The good thing is, if a person does quit and restart a bunch of times you can throw out their results.

Assuming the online franchise has the same features as offline, though, why wouldn't you just play an online franchise so you can have access to the web-based features? Seems logical to me.

SPECTATOR MODE! Lol, They need to have this in Madden OF. I remember in OD on NCAA there was plenty of times that we were all in the lobby and were waiting for someone to finish a game. It would be nice to watch other people play important games and etc.

Do you think this will be tied into Facebook like the guys at EA have been hinting at?

Also, do you think the web app will allow the commissioner to advance the Franchise?

I am not sure yet of that. hopefully it will.

Even if there's not an app, you very possibly could just access the website in your mobile web browser.

I personally feel they shouldn't favor one company over another, in that sense. There's A LOT of people with a Blackberry, G1, etc. I wouldn't be mad if they didn't make an app for the other carriers, but I would be disappointed.
I have a BlackBerry myself, but I understand the high popularity of the iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as the ease of the App Store. So, while I would love to see the Online Franchise app come to the BlackBerry, I'm not going to hold my breath. It would take some effort to port the app to every single smart phone, effort I'd rather see spent on developing the actual console game. And therefore, I understand that if they are going to pick only one mobile platform to develop an app for, they would go with Apple for the reasons mentioned before.

I just bought a iphone 3g last month which is the best phone ever but i don't think that they would do the apps with other smart phones b/c they probably have a exclusive deal with Apple but i hope they make apps for other phones so everyone will get the full effect of online franchise

Nothing stops them BUT all members of the online franchise can see that the game was restarted as the system logs it and shows it at main screen of online franchise. So the player that did it must let the league know why he re-started.

I think they should have the rich iPhone/iPod Touch Application, a flash based website (for PCs), and a mobile 'web app' that runs off HTML, that can be used on ALL mobile devices (much like Facebook).

I myself have an iPod Touch, but obviously I can only use this in the vicinity of my home (where I could use my PC or my console), but I also have a Nokia 5800 as my phone (Nokia's iPhone). If Madden 10 was to have an HTML web app, I could edit my franchise anywhere.

This would ensure that everyone can use their devices to update their franchise, wherever they are.

This kills the OF. Everyone will be able to sign any player they want and stack thier teams and never get penalties for cutting. It will be a joke, and contracts will be useless. This is unacceptable and has to be fixed before release. What were they thinking with this

I am sure the league commish can set some ground rules.

# 355 bigrice25 @ 06/03/09 03:04 PM
I agree..

No salary cap would present alot of problems as far as keeping teams balanced.

It also kills alot of strategy in trading, releasing, signing and free agent negotiations......

# 356 CapnKill @ 06/03/09 03:09 PM
I wonder why it was left out... seems very strange. Salary cap and franchise go hand in hand.

Cause there's nothing that a league commish wants to do more than manually track peoples salary caps.

However, it does take away from cuts and other such moves.
It really takes away a huge layer of franchise, I mean HUGE. I can't imagine this was an oversight, they must've had some logic issues or something, or not enough QA time with it... I'd love to hear a response though as to why this was left out.

# 359 Netherscourge @ 06/03/09 03:16 PM
Well, without a CBA, there's no salary Cap in the real NFL either in 2010.

Where are ya'll getting this info from? If this is true, then the only thing I can think is that they want the commish to be able to set it to what he wants. I agree, it's a big deal. It's not a game killer for me though. Most likely you're gonna have to watch over all the teams anyway, if it's like NCAA OD was. There were so many glitches and cheats that people could do for recruiting it wasn't funny. I'm pretty sure this will have it's fair share of glitches. EA never get's it right on the 1st time lol. While I'm checking members teams and rosters, I'll check there salaries too. Problem solved.
