Madden 2010 News Post

Check out the new Madden NFL 10 blog. This one features the importance of an early community day.

Quote:
"On April 10, we flew in 8 of the most hardcore Madden fans for a marathon testing day to get an extremely early look at our Alpha build and provide feedback based on where the game is thus far. You may ask, “What is new about this? Haven’t you had community events in the past?” Yes, we have done these before, but there are some key differences."

It would be unfortunate if some dilettante trashed the game because he didn't realize that he couldn't play the game like its was Madden 2004.

In short, teach these sites how to play the game, so that they won't be incompetent, and review the game from a state of ignorance.
Good post.

Yes. Strafing wasn't a big help, to be honest. It's more about ratings now... Larry Fitzgerald is going to kill you, Bryant Johnson, not so much.

None. That's illegal in the NFL now.

Wrap swats have made a huge difference.

Was never able to rocket catch at all.

Most of the time, yes, but I wouldn't say perfect CB technique has necessarily been programmed in. They initially go to the right place, but as the play progresses, it becomes more of a cat and mouse game. Of course, this is partly due to protection being too good at times.

Ward absolutely slaughtered me as DRC in one game. Just destroyed me.

Another OL/DL question, man, can't get into it.

Lol, the iso play with pass blocking. No, they fixed that.

Despite using the 49ers, I don't use the SF playbook, so I don't know.

Don't know.

Get back to me on pursuit questions... there was a big bug that prevented us from seeing how good the pursuit was or was not for the most part.

I'm not following...

Again, not following you...

any man not kid who played football in Hs or college knows what real football is. we all know that 2k is real football. but these guys are happy over a picture when we all know that the guys are not going to be as big as the first 2k game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGar8CKdfw0

but if they were then yes lets get happy. but you need a big tv to see every thing in that picture. every year they put out a picture and then come out with bad game play. Nfl teams dont go for it on 4th down and 10 or 15 they punt

its the little things real players see that need to be changed but EA was smart to get madden heads and say their 2k guys

Glad to see the thread is back on track. Thanks to all the guys who went to the CD and are sharing as much info as they can. Keep it coming....

adembroski (or anyone else who fiddled around with franchise),

I know you can't get into too many details, but were you pleased with the improvements/changes to franchise? How'd they compare to your expectations (for that matter, what were your expectations)?

Did any of you guys who went have any feedback for Donny on the player ratings you saw ? I know you can't go into specifics on any ratings you saw..... I was just curious about whether or not any of you saw a few ratings that you debated with Donny about.

I always thought they had a team of guys, or at least a few guys working on player ratings. It seems like a lot of work for just Donny to do. I have faith in Donny, but he's only human. It has to be hard for him to remain unbiased with every single player. IMO it would be better if there were at least a few guys to brainstorm on the ratings and average them out in cases where they didn't agree.

If you asked a question in here about what a player should be rated, you know as well as I do that we'd see a pretty big debate about it. That's why it seems like such a tough job for just one person.

# 532 KyGamerLT @ 04/14/09 07:55 PM
#2 I was woundering about because the nfl only lets you make a wedge with 2 players instead of 4 or 5 now.

#13 is a route that goes up out then up again, You can make it shorter by playmaking it. What this does is take advantage of the corner just running straight back instead of playing the guy in his zone.

#14 I'll give you step by step.

Go to philly's pb and find a auto motion play in shotgun with a 2 rb set. make the auto motion wr do a streak (this helps you motion another player). Now streak you're other outside wr who should be lined up on the line instead of back like a slot would be. After you do this you can makes some new formations pretty much.

Madden 10's animations are light years ahead of '09

Gameplay is big to people here but so are the small things like handwarmers. But i'm pretty sure everybody here would like to have the gameplay on point. I know I won't be looking for handwarmers but I'll catch it after the play is over. It's just good to see changes I mean how many maddens did it take for them to add handwarmers? People get excited to see that Ian and Co has madden moving forward. It shouldn't matter if they say there 2k guys or nfl fever guys it's all football just different teams making the game. It all comes down to the X's and O's I can see they know about from hearing them talk.

I feel much better now. I was a little worried after your previous answer. I didn't the get the impression you were really that impressed with the animations. So from my understanding, they're not as good as 2k's, but much better than previous Madden's.
