The load times were really bad last night. I hope that can be improved.

So far my biggest complain is that the load times are horrific and I'm constantly encountering network errors. It's so bad it's cumbersome to try and do anything except go straight to a round.

Yep tried my second online round today and it dropped my connection and booted me back to the main menu just like last night. Can't get reconnected. Only been able to play offline. Might have to put this on the shelf till they figure out their server problems. Really disappointing.

I bet it's server related. Looks like there are launch issues.

That aside, no golf game I've ever played has implemented this correctly so TGC2 gets a pass on this to some extent. Where the loft mechanic is truly frustrating is that it keeps the same "paint by numbers" approach to hitting greens. If you focus on finding the right "loft" you can hit to the exact yardage with a full swing with every club. This is also unrealistic. The very best golfers can pretty much hit any club to any yardage starting from maximum distance with that club and working your way back. But it's never with the same full swing that this game portrays. It's with half swings, quarter swings, ball alignment etc.

I was hoping that dialing in distances, at least on Tour clubs difficulty, would require the proper backswing length and tempo, not setting a meter to a certain loft prior to hitting the ball that allows you to hit a ball 100yds or 150yds with the same full swing and tempo.

However, all that said, I really enjoyed the four rounds I played. I don't at all like the loft mechanic but I'll deal with it and play within the mechanic because the rest of the game is so great.

This was disappointing to read. I hate the loft mechanic. You should have to decide between taking more or less club based on situation and hitting the shot accordingly. Not using math to manipulate a distance. This was my major gripe about TGC1.

Haven't bought it yet. Probably still will that information definitely puts a damper on my excitement.

think playing with new range distance as opposed to precise should reduce the math darting

Pre-ordered PS4 digital download.

Got sleepy last night so I snuck a game in this morning. Game is running much smoother than TGC1. I enjoy the menu so far etc.

I managed to play 1 round this morning and shot a -6 at that easy course. I found i was able to putt more consistently than last year. I like that you can pic what clubs you have etc.

Add me to your PSN if you are fooking for someone to play with Ruffy___

I also created a Society until the OS one gets off the ground. If you feel like messing around join my society called....

The Big Red One (BROs)

I set-up a tourney to play and have set dues cheap at $450 and a tourney fee of $50 just to get one started.

Looking forward to getting a ton more games in tonight.

Don't read too much into that. Yes, there's still loft but there's limited loft depending on the club. You can't fully loft like you could last year st all.

You can't max loft a 3I like TGC1. Absolutely cannot. It's 100x better. Trust me, my balls sure aren't stopping on a dime.

And when you mix the new tempo swing into the equation, it's not gonna be a mathematic dart game.

Guys, just playing Devil's Advocate here, but... you don't HAVE to use that mechanic. If it bothers you, just don't do that.

(shrug) Use different clubs, or length of swing instead.

I really wish these small studios would not tie all game modes into some kind of online connection. This happens all the time. I'm seeing a ton of complaints about connectivity on social media.

I'm all for that, including using the new range distance mechanic instead of pinpoint.

However, when we play online tourneys or anything online really, it's hard to convince yourself to handicap your abilities when everyone else is using the loft mechanic and throwing darts all over the place.

And to the other poster's point that it's not as bad as TGC1. I agree...But it's bad enough that there's three clubs minimum I can always hit on any given shot the distance I need with a full swing.

My understanding is range can be set in Society's by the Admin for tournaments.

Yeah I figured it was but I'm more concerned about the loft mechanic.... It'd be really really tough, especially on Tour clubs difficulty, to dial in a 90% swing even with pinpoint aiming instead of range.

Again, as much as I dislike this mechanic, the game overall is really well done. I wish there was an option to disable the loft mechanic, that's all. Maybe they can patch something like that in.

So, against my better judgement, and not seeing any news here about how this would play on XB1 compared to TGC1, I purchased, under the impression and thought process that I'd use the XB Store refund process if I didn't like it. Mind you they apparently only give you 2 hours of play time to put the refund through.

I played a round this morning, and I don't think I'll be requesting that refund. Of course only played on official courses at this point, but so far, the framerate on XB1 hasn't been an issue for me. As a hole first loads, when the camera starts to move it stutters briefly which I assume is because it's still loading, but then it smooths out just fine.

I still don't find the visuals to be that appealing. They're better than TGC1, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it beautiful and such as some have. For a small studio, and cheaper priced game, I guess it's about all you can expect.

I still hate the "announcer". For the amount of complains I saw about that last time around, I figured they'd have done something better in that regard, but nope. Seems to be a lot more dialogue/lines which is nice, but overall, it's just a bad touch IMO.

As for the gameplay. Swing mechanic felt nice and smooth, and it plays well. They physics of the ball/ground feel and look different from TGC1. However, I feel it's a bit overdone at times. I've played on some hilly courses in my day, and I've never seen balls take some of the almost 90 degree left or right turns that some of your shots seem to here. I'm referring to in the fairways here. Maybe it was just something weird, or maybe the effect of the camera following the ball, but it seemed really odd. That being said, about bounces... I hit an approach to an elevated green that was short. I clipped the rough, just before the fringe, and the bounce I got there that essentially killed my ball's progress at the crest of the hill, and the one bounce I got missing an elevated green to the right and watching my ball kick to the right and down the slope felt eerily similar to how it does in my own golf game on the weekends when I miss elevated greens like that. So, that's a good thing.

My biggest gripe though, could be the visuals, but I'm trying to keep that in perspective given the studio and resources, so because of that, I digress, but my biggest gripe is how they did the difficulty settings between Standard, Player and Tour. I went to edit my player, and equip what I thought was just better clubs to hit longer, but wow, I was in for a shock when I hit the course. Didn't realize that was the way to set difficulty, and I don't like it. I'm all for the swing mechanic changing based on sensitivity and tempo and such as your difficulty changes, but why penalize the maximum distance I can hit? So if I want to play with more relaxed swing sensitivity, why limit my distance with my clubs? Limit that though my poor swings, at that difficulty level only. Don't dictate my distance through my difficulty setting. If I want to play on the tour swing difficulty, punish my mi****s left, right, and short based on my control of the swing. I hate the fact that I'm being punished on longer courses because I may want to play on Standard or Player. Let me play the game my way from a difficulty setting standpoint, without penalizing me just for making that selection. Instead, penalize me based on my poor swings. I'm NOT a fan of that at all.

That being said, in just one quick round, and some tutorials and range shots you can tell pretty quickly it's an improvement over TGC1.

The lofting, while not realistic, is so toned this year. Maybe it's different with other controllers, but when lofting or delofting with the DS4, I've had it move at different rates so I can't dial in exactly how much % I'm adding or subtracting and that's how I like it. Of course I also play with range, wind speed off, and grids off.

While the math of the game hasn't been eliminated, I'm happy with where it's at. I'm sure someone over at TGC tours will go and try to figure everything out and create charts and the like, but I'll be enjoying the society I'm in that uses range and wind speed off.

The wind meter filling up is genius. I think last year it was just an arrow with no indicator of the speed unless you left exact speed on right?

And to go back on the loft, it's nowhere near game exploitable like last year, they'll continue to tweak it but right off the bat it's pretty damn good.

Thought there was an offline career mode, turns out its an online career mode. Pretty disappointed with that. Was hoping to invest some hours into this game, but it's going back to Amazon now. Shame.

Hate to say it but I might be doing the same. It's just a principle thing at this point. I'm really getting tired of pre ordering games only for them to be slow loading or not even work at all because every mode is tied to crappy servers. I'll see how it goes tonight but if what I'm reading is true I'll be testing out Microsoft's refund policy.

# 259 redcat @ 06/27/17 05:33 PM
I've played for about 5 minutes (PS4) on the driving range and a couple of turns on the putting green, and I've had the game lock up on me. Just closed it out and I'll start again.

# 260 ricky24 @ 06/27/17 08:10 PM
Can't get the hang of these player clubs. Everything tails off right or left late in my balls flight. Pretty realistic for me.
