I was not able to "dial in" shots at all in Beta. It is a crap shoot and very easy to overdo the loft and end up way short.
TGC1 had the percentages on the side of the lofting table that really made it easy. It's much fuzzier the way it's done in TGC2. Combine that with the new wind meter and the inexact range to target and it's not going to be a math exercise like it was in the first one.
Not sure why you're taking things so personal. I even said "of course the game would look a tad better on a better tv". Nobody is bickering just discussing the game. Insinuating a persons tv is holding the graphics back and is resulting in the opinion that the graphics are not amazing is silly though. You don't need a 4k tv to see the improvements when compared to TGC1. Like I said.....The graphics are fine. I'm ok with them. They are what they are though.
All I know is this....During my fourth and last round, any time I was in the fairway with Tour clubs, I was able to hit the green. I finished +2 because of the holes I didn't hit the fairway or three putting etc. But when in position off the tee, I could manipulate any club's loft where the distance was no longer a concern since I was going full swing and it was just about swinging with good tempo.
Full disclosure, this was with pinpoint aiming and not range but that will be the default settings for a lot of online tournaments which is why I say the mechanic shouldn't even exist on that difficulty level.

Keep playing, I can assure you are going to run into more challenging courses that will give you some challenging approach shots and short game shots.....

All I know is that after 100+ rounds in Beta, I barely touched the loft mechanic because it was too easy to hit way short or too far and put myself in an even worse spot than finding a good place on the green to hit a full shot.
Game is beyond broke right now. Couldn't connect at all last night.
Seeing reports of a number of folks finally getting DC free games late last night.
Hang in there, I know it must be brutal not being able to play. I went a whole 2 hours not being able to connect with the PC version yesterday and ended up having to uninstall the game, Steam and reinstall everything to get back in the game.
Oh I could connect, and then I'd disconnect, and then I'd connect, and then disconnect. I finally gave up and played Dirt 4. Very frustrating!
At least be like MLB The Show where you keep playing and it'll record your stuff later and not just end the game.
Yeah it's really bad. I don't even think offline rounds count towards your handicap. I'll give it until monday. After that I'm calling Microsoft for a refund.
I can finally play this morning got through a whole round without being disconnected

Yeah but a ton of people work during the day. The real question is will you be able to play a round without being disconnected when its 7pm eastern time.

Exactly. Same story as The Show for weeks. They just don't have the servers to handle peak time traffic. Small companies need to rethink how they incorporate online play.
