I'm sitting here with 14 minutes until my XBox One version unlocks, but I was just reminded that my PC version, which I also have on pre-order, isn't going to unlock until 12 PM... at least I've got the XBox One version to tide me over
This game is BEAUTIFUL. Deff an upgrade over TGC1 graphic wise. (I'm on Pro with 4K TV)
The tempo swing is legit, adds so much variability. I was all over the place with player clubs.
Putting is hard. Going to take some practice for sure.
The customization is just awesome. So glad they added that, hated being stuck with the same golfer on TGC1.
PS4 Pro played smooth as silk on official courses. Not tested on course designer courses yet. There is an option to turn off FXAA which could help frames on heavily planted courses.
Some major connection issues going on right off the bat.. I got through 9 holes and had disconnected from online about 5 times. Surely they'll fix it quick.
Will give more as I play a whole lot more tomorrow.

Co-sign on the customization.
The only thing I wish they had was an editor for logos (think Forza) so we could create custom ones. That's not a biggie just thought that would be cool.
Created outfits for the 4 rounds (and casual) then played 1 round so far (+7 79)
Will be hitting the range more just to get more fine tuned with distances etc..
As far as game play it was buttery smooth so far (Also only Official courses so far) (PS4 Pro) and very pretty.
This game is miles ahead of tgc1. Only played one round but the swing mechanic is great. Also if you press right or left on the d pad while the ball is in the air, you'll get a tv style broadcast view, really nice touch there.
I got busted last night. I usually buy my games digitally so the wife doesn't know. Just so happens last night we were playing Injustice at midnight when I get that "helpful" popup "THE GOLF CLUB 2 CAN NOW BE USED"...
Wife says "what is that? Did you buy that???" and I had to admit to it, LOL.
I can't figure out what the other bonus was. Thought we were supposed to get a clubhouse or something.
Ok, thanks!! oh and it said a Gold club was one of the other things. I remember that one because I remember thinking I'd be like the snoop dogg of the links, LOL.

Played some last night and again today. Quick pros and cons:
- game looks significantly better and about as good as could reasonably be expected from a small studio. Great job there.
- love the customization, though it's hard to make your face look all that different. Seems the sliders don't have wide enough ranges.
- on course, playing this game on Tour clubs difficulty I feel is a must. Par was a great score on Tour and those birdies really felt rewarding because you know you hit a bunch of good shots to get that chance.
- great addition with the tempo and it's a MUCH better implementation of it than either RM or and TW game in the fast. Those games it felt like you had to have unrealistic and fast tempo to get "normal". Here, "perfect" on both the backswing and downswing felt right.
- some of the load times can be irritatingly long.
- this could be a simple oversight on my part but I couldn't find the option to quit out of a round in the menus during play
Finally, my biggest gripe with this game is the same one I had with TGC1...The awful loft mechanic. For a whole host of reasons. Firstly, it is incredibly unrealistic. In the tutorial the narrator tells you to raise the loft to get more spin on the ball....This is the exact opposite of true.
When you "raise the loft" IRL you're in fact scooping underneath the ball with your club. Yeah, you'll hit it higher....But with almost zero stopping power via spin. The proper way to spin a golf ball is to compress it between the club and the ground. You're actually closer to hitting the top of the golf ball than you are underneath it.
That aside, no golf game I've ever played has implemented this correctly so TGC2 gets a pass on this to some extent. Where the loft mechanic is truly frustrating is that it keeps the same "paint by numbers" approach to hitting greens. If you focus on finding the right "loft" you can hit to the exact yardage with a full swing with every club. This is also unrealistic. The very best golfers can pretty much hit any club to any yardage starting from maximum distance with that club and working your way back. But it's never with the same full swing that this game portrays. It's with half swings, quarter swings, ball alignment etc.
I was hoping that dialing in distances, at least on Tour clubs difficulty, would require the proper backswing length and tempo, not setting a meter to a certain loft prior to hitting the ball that allows you to hit a ball 100yds or 150yds with the same full swing and tempo.
However, all that said, I really enjoyed the four rounds I played. I don't at all like the loft mechanic but I'll deal with it and play within the mechanic because the rest of the game is so great.
