He looked at the code and told us we can't do this in 8 months it's too much code, too risky, and that would be the only thing we got. So we choose to work on Quick manage and critical situations. We love these features, our SVT wants these features and they took all 8 months to implement correctly.

Nothing is as easy as it might seem on the outside.
I dont know programming so I have no idea how hard these things are. I guess the little things in my eyes are massive for those that actually know what they're doing. Thanks for the clarification.

Can I ask why? I don't get why people think this is a much-needed feature that would probably require the focus of the entire dev team.

Thank you Russell. Little more enthused now, especially seeing secondary positions get some attention.

Please understand, some of us are being vocal not because we hate the changes, but because we wish to have a (small) influence on the direction of the game. Quick manage is a great feature (I will be using it for blowouts and minor league games), just not the kind of thing a hardcore franchiser is looking for.

It's a safe assumption that most of the franchisers on OS are hardcore. We are also very passionate because to us, it's the only true way to play the game.

I still think you guys are awesome and this years game is looking amazing. Just please bear with my whining.

What I plan to do over the next few weeks is recommend the Show to as many casual gamers that I know, as many as I can (not that I havent done this in the past) and hope something will spark. This games audience has to grow to greater numbers if us hardcores are going to get more goodies. If sales pick up over the next 2-3 years, hopefully Sony will increase SDS' budget into one that this fantastic team deserves.

I'm indifferent about the stream today. Lots of cool ways to help get people through seasons, but it seems they only talked about just that.
Any news on midseason extensions?
Do minor league stats carry over? In the offseason if I'm looking to sign a veteran to a "minor league" deal (at least in my mind) i'd like to know how he did that previous season.
Do players acquire/lose player quirks based on hot/cold streaks?
I'm sure we will get the general "improved AI logic on trades/FA/lineups, but could we get an in depth look at random times of seasons, I never see teams release players, nor even sign free agents during the regular season.

I'll surely buy MLBTS once again, but as a die hard offline franchise guy, I wish there was more.

As far as the morale went, I noticed that they ended up going through the same process in the stream that triggered the biggest morale bug from last year - and it didn't happen. That was simulating through a game using quick manage/sportscast - last year that forced all pitchers in the league to have a team role of "Bullpen", which messed up morale across the league. Since their Quick Manage segment came before Morale discussion, we could see what the starting pitchers roles looked like after the simming. And they looked correct (smiley faces).

So, at least right now, I think that was fixed.

I wish we would be given the option to edit in online Franchise. So many player's wearing multi #'s.

Can Player Quirks be turned off? I held off on 2k this year from reading so many people complaining about the Player Archtypes and how they effected the game.

I'm a franchise guy myself and can love everything that's been changed. But Player Quirks possibly being overpowered scares me. Will need to play around more with this when game drops.

The game had me sold with the new hit types and that will make for an amazing experience for this years game.

I, like most of you, have been a fan of The Show for a long time. We each have our own reasons why this game is important to us and those reasons are as varied as the way we play the game.

I play Franchise and RTTS exclusively. I have messed with DD and Battle Royale a little bit. But those modes are just not for me. I like collecting the cards and use the equipment in RTTS of course. But I don't care about it's status. I will use a bat because it a Louisville Slugger not because its a Gold or Diamnond.

I love these modes and I know I lot of you do too. I play every inning of every game, just like a lot of you as well. What I don't do anymore is play a lot of other games. I reallized about two years ago that I was buying all of these games and I would play The Show and one or two RPG's in the course of a year. That realization has changed the way I do things now. Last year I bought 5 games total and so far this year I have bought one. The Show will be number 2.

The Show is my go to game, 2 or 3 games a day, more if I have a day off. This is the way I like to play. Slow and steady, I love when my games take 2 hours and I consider it time well spent. I was super excited for '17 and I guess in a way I still am a bit. I am all for options and I am glad they are a successful developer, they certainly deserve to be. I have the utmost respect for them and their game. They have done things for me personally that are simply amazing.

With all of that said. I am not really happy for the direction the game is taking. I am happy for all of the new players, I am happy for The Games success, I happy for the Developers. But I am not happy for me. Every year it seems the game gets a little further away from the game I want it to be and thats fine. Thats the way these things work. I will purchase '17 day one but then I think it is time for a break from the yearly cycle. I usually get about 4-5 years of a franchsie done and I rarely carry over becuase The Show always seemed to give me a reason to want to start over. This year with the additions of AI, lighting, models, uniforms, new park for Atlanta, updates for RTTS etc. I will be starting over again.

The difference is this time I think its for good. While I still believe The Show is a good product, it is changing into something that does not interest me. Maybe down the road things will change and I hope they do. But I think I can be content with '17 and let time move on without me.

Wish you all the best and see you in the ballparks.
This is how I feel, I may just stick with OOTP this year, I got bored with the show last year after a couple of months. I am not too optimistic about next year also. Its close to being the perfect mix of sim and gameplay, but DD rules all I guess.

I rarely ever post, but I've been reading these forums for years in the months leading up to the Show's release date, so I thought I'd drop in my two cents...

I would not consider myself a "casual" Show player at all (I have purchased the last 8 games on release day, and I bought a PS3 and then a PS4 exclusively because of the Show). Even so, the addition of Quick Manage is, without any hyperbole, a completely game-changing feature for me.

I used to play mostly Franchise with a little RTTS mixed in, but I have fallen away from Franchise the past few years as I have less time to play. To me, the main reward in building a franchise is to develop your prospects and lead your team to sustained success over time as your roster changes. In order to experience this, you need to play multiple seasons. I don't have time to play 162 games in one season, let alone multiple ones, but I also feel a disconnect from the team and players when I just sim and read box scores. For years, I've wished that the Show had this type of quick manage system (similar to what I enjoyed in the MVP game), and I was absolutely thrilled to see it implemented so thoroughly this year.

Are there other things I wish were in the game? Of course. Every iteration is different for everyone - some people get the one or two features they really wanted, while others see them as features that they will never use (which is my perspective on Diamond Dynasty). But this is my year to get my most-wanted feature, among a great many other improvements, and amidst some negativity on the forum I just wanted to say thanks to Ramone, Luis, and the entire team for getting me so excited to play Franchise again.

If the numbers tell them that more casual gamers are playing, will that just lead towards more being dumped into casual modes? Not an actual gain to the hardcore audience.

The generated players look soooooo much better. That was one of my main gripes getting into the later years of RTTS.

The interleague scheduling not being fixed is a huge bummer, as playing RTTS for the same team your entire career, you literally never play 33% of the teams in the league.

That quick manage screen is really nice, if i played franchise, i'd be all over that. I hope that same screen is used when simming in RTTS, without the manager options of course.

I agree with most here in wishing franchise had gotten a little more love in a few areas. But player quirks, quick manage options, critical situations, ball physics, stadium tagging, new commentators/presentation, new faces/body types, CAP improvements, etc. are plenty new features to make my favorite mode better in 17.

I play/played the hell out of 16 and you can bet I'm gonna play the hell out of 17!

Thanks for the improvements and hard work SCEA and hopefully franchise will evolve to be even better in 18. Bring on release day!

It's just something I've wanted for a long time. Unlimited options, and the ability to create ballparks of the past.

I can add my own advertisements, to reflect the real ads in current stadiums, this would go a long way to add to the realism.

Let's not forget that all the game play and attribute changes effect franchise. Ball physics, human AI, secondary position attribute hits, graphics, and so many other things. There are things that I too would have liked to see in franchise, but I don't feel disappointed in the least. 17 is a huge upgrade from 16 if you ask me.

If the number of units sold inreases significantly, and sony inreased the budget, I have to believe SDS would work to increase both things for casual gamers as well as hardcore gamers.

I know you guys are a small dev team but only 1 guy doing franchise is pretty crazy. Especially with an in-depth mode like that. Any plans in the future to add to the franchise team to focus more on it?

No indication has been given, but for obvious reasons, player quirks will need to be dynamic not something that is assigned for a whole career. I don't at all mind the enhancements to simulation even though I won't take part in it. It is nice to know that it's there incase I ever did need it to be a more sophisticated version like it is now.

My most interesting takeaway from the new info was the alteration to team budgets bringing it more urgency making it a weekly tab. The problem I have with that is attendance never has been dynamic enough so it would need to be addressed too.
