QUICK MANAGEMENT.....excellent looking. I hated the FAST FORWARD option.

Game field looked really good.

Did anyone notice, or maybe it was just me, Edwin Diaz looked slim. Is that the new player body type that we're seeing?

It seems they didn't add adidas batting gloves, which is a bummer considering they have adidas cleats and fielding gloves.

I don't really play franchise much but I admit I really like that you can quickly jump back and forth between Quick Manage and then playing certain situations that may come up, only to switch back to Quick manage when the situation is resolved.

For those asking about certain top prospects and them not being on the list... They explained that if they had achieved the rookie qualification service time they're no longer considered prospects in the game...

Yes, but out of the ~2500 that are watching a twitch stream I would venture to guess that first time buyers are in the double digits and probably lower double digits at that. The people that are going to watch a stream like that are the same ones that can be found on a forum like this, mostly hardcore fans. You would think they would cater the info to that group more so, than to a large group of prospective buyers that aren't even watching.

Also, if they have never played in MLB in real life, they won't even be in the game since they aren't members of MLBPA. Hence the fake/generated players mixed in with the real prospects in the list they showed.

Look I know I'm just a fan... But they botched Franchise this year. We haven't seen RTTS in full yet, but they could have used some of the features of that like manager meetings and stuff in Franchise. Look at Madden, and most importantly, NBA 2K.... They got it down. It's kind of sad they couldn't even add one huge new feature. I mean not even allowing in-season extensions of your own players? No better Player-Owner dialogue or requests. A huge one is no redone AI trade formula? That's not good. It shouldn't just take a B prospect, my fifth starter, and RP to acquire Sonny Gray.

I love the new face graphics, love Diamond Dynasty, probably will like RTTS, but they literally dropped the ball and made Franchise take a backseat. If in 2018 Franchise mode isn't their TOP priority overhaul, something is legitimately wrong.

I'll disagree, based on the questions coming in chat, there were a LOT of people who had very little knowledge of the MLB The Show series. I would venture to guess there were hundreds of people who were new or hadn't bought The Show in years.

No way to tell though.

I have been hesitant with the state of the forums lately to share my opinion on all this but I have actually been writing this for a day or so and I think it works they way I intend it to.

I, like most of you, have been a fan of The Show for a long time. We each have our own reasons why this game is important to us and those reasons are as varied as the way we play the game.

I play Franchise and RTTS exclusively. I have messed with DD and Battle Royale a little bit. But those modes are just not for me. I like collecting the cards and use the equipment in RTTS of course. But I don't care about it's status. I will use a bat because it a Louisville Slugger not because its a Gold or Diamnond.

I love these modes and I know I lot of you do too. I play every inning of every game, just like a lot of you as well. What I don't do anymore is play a lot of other games. I reallized about two years ago that I was buying all of these games and I would play The Show and one or two RPG's in the course of a year. That realization has changed the way I do things now. Last year I bought 5 games total and so far this year I have bought one. The Show will be number 2.

The Show is my go to game, 2 or 3 games a day, more if I have a day off. This is the way I like to play. Slow and steady, I love when my games take 2 hours and I consider it time well spent. I was super excited for '17 and I guess in a way I still am a bit. I am all for options and I am glad they are a successful developer, they certainly deserve to be. I have the utmost respect for them and their game. They have done things for me personally that are simply amazing.

With all of that said. I am not really happy for the direction the game is taking. I am happy for all of the new players, I am happy for The Games success, I happy for the Developers. But I am not happy for me. Every year it seems the game gets a little further away from the game I want it to be and thats fine. Thats the way these things work. I will purchase '17 day one but then I think it is time for a break from the yearly cycle. I usually get about 4-5 years of a franchsie done and I rarely carry over becuase The Show always seemed to give me a reason to want to start over. This year with the additions of AI, lighting, models, uniforms, new park for Atlanta, updates for RTTS etc. I will be starting over again.

The difference is this time I think its for good. While I still believe The Show is a good product, it is changing into something that does not interest me. Maybe down the road things will change and I hope they do. But I think I can be content with '17 and let time move on without me.

Wish you all the best and see you in the ballparks.

Quick Manage: It shows in the middle how the players have done so far in the game (1-1 for example) but it would be nice to see what actually happened so far, or the details of those at bats if you will. If a player is 0-2, was it 2 k's? Line out, ground out? 2 ground outs and a walk? Or if a player is 3-3 I would like to know if they have a single, 2 home runs or whatever other combination you can think of.

Unless I just missed it on the screen? If not, might be something they can add to it next year.

Anyone know if mid-season contract extensions have been put in?

Dude I'm worried there aren't any differences. They bankrupted their resources on graphics and RTTS, and completely said "screw it" to Franchise mode. If they made changes to AI team trading/signings, in-season extensions, player progression, ect., their headline for their stream would be "In-depth look at GM/Team AI overhaul as rival organizations attempt to outwit and outplay your franchise"...

Something tells me the mode is nothing but Quirks with a couple knew game progression features.

I am going to say with 99% certainty the answer is no.

I'm disappointed create-a-team wasn't included in franchise but I do like what they have added to the game this year and plan to play the heck out of it.

Quirks were better explained although there are still questions.

Only some quirks impact attributes, others are simply a visual display of what the attributes reflect.

Examples of those which impact attributes are guys who hit better home/road and guys who hit better day/night. And, importantly, a guy who gets a boost during day game will get an accompanying decline in night games. That should keep the game balanced.

Something I wonder about is guys who play better 9th inning or later - do they play worse prior to the 9th inning? Also there is a quirk for guys who hit better with men on base - is that already in the game with clutch rating or do they get a boost in attributes with men on base and an accompanying decline with bases empty?

Different topic - graphics are phenomenal. Players look the real guy is standing there.

Overall I like the changes but I'm disappointed create-a-team didn't make it into franchise.

I skimmed back through, didn't see anything.

I'm not really sure how they could not touch player progression, I'm sure they have their reasons though.

This feels a lot like Madden 2011 ... maybe worse as I like this series more.
