  • New hairstyles made it into the game (Shown in the new AA locker room).
  • Road to The Show will feature a new non-linear decision making system, which will allow you to make big decisions that matter.
  • More player and team specific personality will be included in this year's game.
  • Spin of the ball off of the bat has been greatly improved with new hit types like curving hits down the line.
  • Four new Historical Stadiums are included in the game. (Old Yankee Stadium, Hubert H. Humphry Metrodome, Shea Stadium, Sun Life Stadium) - Nice detective work 13SM13!
  • All batter walkups in Diamond Dynasty will show the player card types on screen.
  • Show Track allows for some new presentational elements in this year's game.
  • More player specific home run swings.
  • Both Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr. will be on the legends roster for MLB The Show 17.
What else did you spy in the trailer?

You gotta push them at this age, get him on zone hitting early and teach him how to properly preload his throws 😜.

hows that retro mode gonna work hitting wise? back in the day, you kinda just watched to see if the ball was cutting through the plate. for the show, it has always been having to account for high pitches and low pitches.

all i personally wanted was a cut to that stadium birdseye view right after i made contact with the ball with my bat swing.

I would love love love to see the expos unis make it into the game or at the very least a uniform editor for offline franchise purposes. That would truly complete the game for us retro roster players. Would also love to see the Indians unis from the late 80s. Retro mode is a VERY welcome addition. I can't wait to check that out.

They probably would not do this, but I could see them considering it since the space for alternate unis have filled up for the most part. If they moved some of the throwbacks to retro mode only it would free up space for more alternate regular unis that may not already be in the game, or that are new for 17.
That would still take up disc space, which is why I assume they limit the number of Jerseys. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

I would imagine that Retro used the same uni files at regular mode. Looks like it is more a camera angle and controller differences to me.

Hopefully, with them dropping PS3, that limit will go away. Or go much higher at least.

I think I remember the NBA 2k devs saying that, in order to get around the number of teams relocated / uniforms modified, that they were using their servers to help store some of that information - not the hard drive, or game disk.

This means that you would constantly need a connection, and the servers would need to always be up, but couldn't that be another option for expanded uniform slots in The Show?

That could be another option. Personally Jerseys aren't the biggest issue, so I would prefer not to be connected to the Internet 24/7

True. But what they could do would be to include any jerseys that the team wore the previous season on the disk, but then store additional historic uniform slots [or even created uniforms?? ] on the server for those that want to use them.

Could be a good compromise to expanding number of uniforms available, without using up precious disk space.

I would be ok with that. It could be an option for those that wish to use "additional" uniforms. Be it historic or custom. Maybe a uniform vault like rosters/sliders have?

Please tell me the Cubs don't still have the "100 years of baseball at Wrigley Field," patch on their sleeves in MLB 17. Baez has it on his sleeve in the video.

I think it is just footage from 16. Haven't removed it yet. I wouldn't worry

We've heard the "improved hits down the line" stuff before...I'm hoping that it's a meaningful difference.

And re living the father/son back to back homers with Griffey would be great. I hope that 89-92 Mariners uniforms are in, instead of the Trident ones, or the Pilots one. Hell, the Pilots are the Milwaukee Brewers...

If only they were able to fund a staff as big as 2K... This would be the best game of all time. The gameplay is very close to being perfect, so if they were able to add all of the bells and whistles like presentation, graphics, immersion, expansion mode, My Career, rotating commentators, etc., it'd be a pretty damn hard game to beat.

I believe it is either the week before or the week of Pitchers and Catchers reporting. But I am not 100% certain of that info as it is a couple of years old.

Does roster cutoff date even matter as much anymore since the day you get the game a live roster update will already be out?
