MLB The Show 17 News Post

The folks at Sony Interactive Entertainment break down their MLB The Show 17 trailer which was released earlier this month. Here are some nuggets you'll find mentioned:
  • New hairstyles made it into the game (Shown in the new AA locker room).
  • Road to The Show will feature a new non-linear decision making system, which will allow you to make big decisions that matter.
  • More player and team specific personality will be included in this year's game.
  • Spin of the ball off of the bat has been greatly improved with new hit types like curving hits down the line.
  • Four new Historical Stadiums are included in the game. (Old Yankee Stadium, Hubert H. Humphry Metrodome, Shea Stadium, Sun Life Stadium) - Nice detective work 13SM13!
  • All batter walkups in Diamond Dynasty will show the player card types on screen.
  • Show Track allows for some new presentational elements in this year's game.
  • More player specific home run swings.
  • Both Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr. will be on the legends roster for MLB The Show 17.

I never cared for the series very much but fooled around with at least one of the iterations for a few minutes, and do recall there being a future stadium for the Oakland A's.

Thanks. Wish it would have become a reality! It seems they'll be stuck at the old dump for the foreseeable future, as MLB and the Giants like them just fine there.

I also did a Mets one. They are lying around somewhere. I gotta find them.
Okay, I found them.

Here's what I have as a framework: my Marlins Park sketches were all in the same scrapbook, and are incredibly faded now. I also drew Citizens Bank Park in that scrapbook, for reference (mind you this was completely from memory, as you can see many details are very far off). I scanned them as dark as humanly possible, but even then it wasn't enough.

The next three drawings are of the Marlins ballpark as a baseball field, football field, and an overhead shot I was working on.

Then apparently I found in that stack an incomplete "redrawing" of the Marlins baseball park. It comes through better, but of course it is incomplete.

The things that are similar to the official proposal are the retractable roof, "glass facade" in right field, and the left field has those arches on that brick wall. These were completely coincidental, as I drew this before the proposal was even made haha.

This final one is of a "Shea Stadium II" that I drew in high school. Thankfully, this one was already scanned so I have the digital file saved. I have no idea where the original copy is anymore, which is too bad because I always wanted to draw a city skyline backdrop with it.

I want to get into this hobby again. Drawing "new stadiums" is always very fun.

EDIT: Spelled "restaurant" wrong in Shea Stadium II.

Check the news bro. We're going to know where and when the new Park is going to be built by the end of this year.

Guess I haven't heard the latest. There's been a number of proposals over the years that have just never gone anywhere, so haven't been following any new park news for a while. Cisco Field in Fremont (my hometown) was the last one (quite a few years ago) I got excited about.

I was excited about the original design:

Then they turned it into this... which while it's the same basic idea, is significantly less appealing to me:

EDIT: This whole time I thought I was in the MLB Off-Topic thread for some reason. Sorry for helping the de-rail in The Show forum. My bad.
