NBA 2K17 News Post

NBA 2K17 patch 1.06 has just arrived for PlayStation 4 (7.4GB) and Xbox One (2.6GB). Once the patch notes have been released, this post will get updated. Until then, post what you're seeing!

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.

GENERAL
  • The Hornets will now have their correct court projection during the pre-game presentation.
  • Fixed an indefinite simulating screen that would occur when your MyPLAYER retired after the completion of his 20-year MyCAREER.
  • Fixed a hang that would occur in MyGM/MyLEAGUE when attempting to enter the Staff Signing experience when the team had no Assistant Coach (retired) and an expired Head Coach.
  • Addressed an issue in MyGM/MyLEAGUE where a league filled with Classic and Euroleague teams would sometimes hang late in the season when simulating.
  • Fixed a MyTEAM Challenge case where the in-game overlay would claim the challenge was not successfully completed when it actually was.
  • Addressed a case where a MyTEAM card that was sent to the Auction House could still appear in lineup menu as being available (when it actually wasn’t).
GAMEPLAY
  • Fixed an issue where pass icons were not appearing for users playing in 4K on the PS4 Pro.
  • Removed some long, drawn out dribble loss (pickup) animations from the body up system to improve responsiveness.
  • Made some aggressive bump back dribble collisions MyPARK only.
  • Prevent defenders from being able to steal the ball from an inbounder immediately after checking it in when playing in MyPARK.
  • Make sure all players are in position before checking the ball when playing half-court games in MyPARK.
  • Sped up the CPU’s ability to get into its offensive sets and run plays.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause CPU-controlled ball handlers to run out of bounds when attacking the baseline.
  • Cleaned up an issue that lead to unrealistic speed bursts in some size-up escape and combo moves.
  • Fixed a case that caused the wrong dribble move to queue up when attempting to perform driving combo moves (e.g. double crossover).
  • Updated Broadcast Stadium cameras for Bucks, Mavericks, Kings, and Clippers.
  • Beluba camera updated to zoom out more in transition and to have a wider range of zoom and height adjustment settings.
MyPARK/2K PRO-AM
  • A number of performance improvements to solidify the Pro-Am experience.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause some users to hang when attempting to hop from one park to another.
  • Users can now unequip the skateboard and mascot outfits from their MyPLAYER.
Many other small bug fixes and adjustments were also made, game-wide.

NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves unless noted otherwise.

MAKE UP YOUR MIND ON WHETHER YOU'D LIKE GUARDS TO BE ABLE TO SPEED BOOST OR NOT!!! QUITE FRANKLY, ITS FAIR GAME SINCE EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO DO IT... THE MOVES I'VE SPENT TIME PRACTICING ARE NOW REDUNDANT...

PEOPLE WHO SUCK WILL ALWAYS COMPLAIN ABOUT GAMEPLAY. STOP TURNING THESE EXCUSES INTO GROUNDS TO 'MAKE THINGS MORE FAIR'. IT'S A COMPETITIVE GAME WITH SOME PEOPLE BETTER THAN OTHERS. WE ALL PLAY UNDER THE SAME GOVERNING RULES OF NATURE WITHIN THE GAME.
Speed boosting is abusing the system and not everyone does know how to do it because some people actually try to play the game using basketball intelligence and team work. Not having some poor guy hold his nutsack while you go left right, left right, left right for 20 seconds until you get the moment to get open.

The fact that the ones who are now moaning about the new patch are those who 'cheese' the system to gain an advantage. It's more fair game more than ever if they have removed or hindered that. So those 'greedy' tunnel vision PG's who never pass as a playmaker can go cry in the corner for all I care. I'm glad 2K tweak the game to eventually get it on a level playing field for all.

Same with any shooters who moan about not making half court shots, get real.

Yeah... well... speed boosting is still in the game!

If it is still in then that's still ok because I already know how to deal with it. However, if I see people complain about it then it makes me happy to know that some 'cheeser' is struggling as such.

0:27 - Nice fastbreak by my opponent.

0:50 - Nice sequence where the AI or opponent was able to react to attempts to their the ball into the paint.
Please keep theae coming ksutt

0:45 - The BEST example of a steal, and Ellis was actually able to "break free" with his speed for the fastbreak. Side note: this another example that on the ball defense is better. I ended the game with ten steals.

Impressions:

Last night around 8:30 i downloaded the patch. I jumped in a 12 minute game on HOF TWolves (me) vs Nuggets. I had pretty low expectations because since the first patch or so i felt like my players were running in mud, everything took so long to develop the game didn't *feel* smooth and i felt like I was always fighting with the game to do the things i wanted to do.

Well, that feeling is gone now the smoothness of 2k is back. I finally felt in control and not a slave to animations and sluggishness of controls. Fast Breaks finally feel alive and apparently this is without the ACE updates so i can only imagine how much better they will feel.

On defense i feel like its more read react as the computer doesn't take ahour to get into a set...although i do think this can be improved even more.

All in all i like the patch. I didn't play mycareer and i probably wont I'm not sure. But i actually feel like playing 2k now and i'm happy the "fun" feeling has returned.

These are my opinions they aren't to be taken as fact and i didn't spend much time taking the game apart as many of you do. I play video games for fun not to be upset.

I know the Pacers don't have great shooters but they are still NBA players and guys missing wide open shots consistently is annoying. C.J. Miles, Teage, Paul George, and Ellis miss so many open 3s I didn't want to shoot anymore open shots anymore when the game got close. I started forcing contested layups since I didn't have any condfidence in the shooting. To me it just feels different from yesterday.

Maybe it's Me but the game just feels to sluggish, to many silly animations. Guys can't catch and shoot when wide open. They do this stupid animation where they have to catch and control the ball for 3 seconds. This gives the defense time to recover. They also do it when u on a break and pass to your ball handler, sometimes he animates like he is gaining control, thus disrupting your fast break. This game is beyond unrealistic.

I wish the devs understood that guys don't have to be steph or klay to hit a open 3. It's like now u have to be a great 3 point shooter. Average 3 point shooters are now bad 3 pt. Shooters now.
I'm not going to knock you, because I posted a picture in the PNO thread a couple of days ago with the same horrible shooting from the Pacers. It's feels good to me of late, and I just chalked that one game as a bad outing.

I can only speak for MyCareer but nothing has changed. It feels basically the same. (except shooting which feels off now) One thing that was there before and is still there after the patch: you always get slowed down when the opponent CPU makes a critical pass or goes for layup/dunk. I have this recorded actually but forgot to upload it. I was running way behind with the CPU making a fast break and when he goes for the dunk I actually turned around while continued to run in the same direction. None of my inputs changed. The CPU's action had influence on my player even though I was in the other half court with no one near me. I always had the feeling that sometimes something literally pulls you away or makes you sluggish intentionally. This is exactly what is happening.

I'll upload the video later.

I wish we could start simulation from any of the things we happen to be on.. I would leave it on game log or maybe the box score section.. Instead having to move back over to where it says continue simulation..... Ido overall like 2ks layout and how much more they have to scroll through and how you can download player training setups and all that.. Much better layout and more to look at the on Madden... I wish Madden had the trade finder thing.. Haa
I agree I want to WATCH the players. Simcast live doesn't make sense to watch little circles instead of the players.

0:50 - Last video. This is just another example of how easy it is to steal the ball while playing your own defense. As a disclaimer, the possibility of steal spammers might become a problem. However, this was just one game, and I could have been having a good defensive game against this particular.

Feel free to dissect the other videos. Also, I REALLY hope this thread doesn't become a crying fest over Sharpshooters, or what they didn't fix. I just want to read impressions about the patch to see what other people noticed.

Have they fixed the issue with players randomly sliding about 5 feet into position when receiving inbound passes after a made basket? I can not stand this! It's a HUGE eyesore & immersion killer!

Here is the video I was talking about earlier. This is MyCareer. See how I get turned around suddenly and walk backwards when the CPU starts his layup animation? I did not let go of the left stick and didn't hit any buttons. This happens whenever the CPU makes a critical pass or goes for dunks/layups or in general when his animations take a longer time. During this time you basically slow down or get pulled away. That is what makes it feel so sluggish. I don't know what is causing this but it is a major issue!

There's code in the fast break AI where defenders pause and look for a man to guard as they cross half court. I think that's what you're seeing applied to your player.

It should not be firing on the user though, and anyway, should not be firing in that situation with the play already under the basket. So I'm guessing that's a bug.

So should we go back to basic Superstar or HOF settings/sliders?

How long ago did you guys stop working on ACE Menu System because it hasn't been touched either.

Nice to know that the shot meter glitch is back in Pro Am.

Taking this garbage right back out of my system.
