NBA 2K17 News Post

NBA 2K17 patch 1.06 has just arrived for PlayStation 4 (7.4GB) and Xbox One (2.6GB). Once the patch notes have been released, this post will get updated. Until then, post what you're seeing!

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.

GENERAL
  • The Hornets will now have their correct court projection during the pre-game presentation.
  • Fixed an indefinite simulating screen that would occur when your MyPLAYER retired after the completion of his 20-year MyCAREER.
  • Fixed a hang that would occur in MyGM/MyLEAGUE when attempting to enter the Staff Signing experience when the team had no Assistant Coach (retired) and an expired Head Coach.
  • Addressed an issue in MyGM/MyLEAGUE where a league filled with Classic and Euroleague teams would sometimes hang late in the season when simulating.
  • Fixed a MyTEAM Challenge case where the in-game overlay would claim the challenge was not successfully completed when it actually was.
  • Addressed a case where a MyTEAM card that was sent to the Auction House could still appear in lineup menu as being available (when it actually wasn’t).
GAMEPLAY
  • Fixed an issue where pass icons were not appearing for users playing in 4K on the PS4 Pro.
  • Removed some long, drawn out dribble loss (pickup) animations from the body up system to improve responsiveness.
  • Made some aggressive bump back dribble collisions MyPARK only.
  • Prevent defenders from being able to steal the ball from an inbounder immediately after checking it in when playing in MyPARK.
  • Make sure all players are in position before checking the ball when playing half-court games in MyPARK.
  • Sped up the CPU’s ability to get into its offensive sets and run plays.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause CPU-controlled ball handlers to run out of bounds when attacking the baseline.
  • Cleaned up an issue that lead to unrealistic speed bursts in some size-up escape and combo moves.
  • Fixed a case that caused the wrong dribble move to queue up when attempting to perform driving combo moves (e.g. double crossover).
  • Updated Broadcast Stadium cameras for Bucks, Mavericks, Kings, and Clippers.
  • Beluba camera updated to zoom out more in transition and to have a wider range of zoom and height adjustment settings.
MyPARK/2K PRO-AM
  • A number of performance improvements to solidify the Pro-Am experience.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause some users to hang when attempting to hop from one park to another.
  • Users can now unequip the skateboard and mascot outfits from their MyPLAYER.
Many other small bug fixes and adjustments were also made, game-wide.

NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves unless noted otherwise.

Hmm I wasn't prompt to an update.

I notice the park has music during games. Is that park of the new update?

Just found another cheesy thing the CPU does. It's the contact layup animation, when you're going in for a huge dunk, then the defender comes in between you and the basket, so suddenly it goes from normal running dunk > contact dunk > contact layup > missed FG with no foul call.

The defender clearly impedes my shooting motion (dunk motion or layup motion, whatever 2K wants it be), but I'm not getting any foul calls. What the **** 2K? I guess they really just want to prevent us getting easy baskets by making this as frustrating as possible. It's not intuitive at all. To me at least, unless someone can explain this.

EDIT:

I forgot to thank 2K for making 1.06 a big step in the right direction in terms of defender-dribbler interactions. The crazy bumping animations and dribble pick-up animations were removed, and rightfully so. Getting bumped like that would be a defensive foul, and the crazy long pick-up animation is gone. I don't play Park so idk how that's going.

However, dribbles seem to have changed a lot. Chaining dribble moves while holding turbo seems very different from before. This might have something to do with speed boosting and preventing this. I get it, but it's taking away from the dribbling experience which 2K focused on so heavily.

I've had that since release where I've already started a dunk and someone runs in front of me and it transitions into a contact dunk where the defender begins to jump and turn away but suddenly it either makes me so the layup where u throw the ball into the crowd or I just jump and drop the ball while the defender who jumped somehow how reported back to the ground and is now running away with the ball it seems funny to me this only happens to me on my slasher, I've never seen this on my LDD and in the park and pro-am it happens to me very now and then but I still have SS, SC, and playmakers jump over our center and dunk with no interruption to the animation as if contact was never made even though it was.

It's been in the game since last year, if I'm not mistaken.

It happens in real life as well. Rarely, but you see contact up top and at times the ref hold their whistles. I actually like that it is in the game.

Two months in and this game is already heavily patched???

I would definitely vote in favour of a 2 year release for NBA2K if the game is released with this many issues....

This is easily the best 2K I have ever played. I love it. The patch was really great for me and the way I play this game.

I am getting awesome games in MyLeague, with realistic star and outcomes.

Awesome job. I am enjoying 2K on the PS4 really for the first time. 15 and 26 just did not do it for me and 17 is chock full of amazing customization options in franchise, incredible AAA presentation unlike any sports game on the market and just fun.

I have locked in my sliders for my play style.......and I did not need to change a thing after this patch. They tinted things up in regards to FG%, blocks, steals, and now the fast break is awesome again for me.

Yep this has been in there since last year. It was never fixed, addressed, or cared for. You will have some cases where you go for a dunk and pretty much get body slammed and still no foul but you get - for a turnover lol Just a typical bug that's never going to get fixed it looks like.

So the sliders you use pre patch 1.6 are the same sliders you are using post 1.6?

I'm just afraid that the current set of sliders I'm comfortable with, especially the shooting sliders may need to go back to default.

Are you able to see end of game highlights with 12 minute quarters?

Da_Czar confirming new ACE updates. Quoted from the "Fastbreak" thread:

It will not be perfect but it should be a marked improvement. This does not address behaviors like when people shoot but it does cover lane assignments etc.

In addition recently new playbooks have been updated for Knicks, Pacers, and Trailblazers.

Knicks freelance was updated and will be assigned in next ACE update.

There are amazing things our Ai can do that movement can't account for yet. So there is stuff we are telling you the game can do that are failing due to other systems.

As those systems improve more of the hoops that we have in the logic will begin to shine through.

A perfect example of this are the plays and freelances. Beautifully constructed but until patch 1.06 virtually useless right ? After patch 1.06 all those systems are out of the way and the flow is right there, the branching is right there. It was there all along but hard to see because of the systems.

But we are very excited about what the future holds for us in removing the systems barrier and allowing more of our "play basketball" to shine through.

Our game is at the point where there are no more easy wins everything we need to do is very time and resources intensive. And unfortunately you can't do everything at once.

So your question is really too big to answer I could talk for hours about any specific decision lol. But in general these games are not as far along as consumers believe they are. There is still SO MUCH MORE to do.

Just think it took a year just to stop everyone from running into the paint. that is ONE thing and there is more logic needed than that. But that was step 1.

Speaking for myself, I played my first MyLeague game (48 minutes) post patch 1.06 last night. I didn't have to change from the sliders I had pretty much optimized for myself before the patch. Any more tweaks I am considering are tweaks I already was working on before the patch. Caveat of course is this was just one game.

I can add my voice to the chorus of the newly encouraged by the game. Until now I felt like I was just fighting with the game for it not to be an experience of some good interrupted by egregious examples of just plain awful.

I can move about the court much better now, on offense and defense, both on and off ball. I haven't tried much off the dribble slashing yet but I'm not great at that as a user and the team I control doesn't really have guys who excel in creating off the dribble to drive anyway. So I haven't tested that yet.

I can also see the difference in how plays set up better than before, both for plays you call and in freelance. I still recommend calling your plays before half court, though.

High PnR from spread offense can still be cheesy for the user, I don't see any change there. That said, I can run an elite combo of roll man and PnR PG with my team, so I need to look more closely if it's just my players' attributes and badges or also bad defensive adjustments. My starters can present the defense with a lot of bad choices.

Such a difference not to have those constant collisions and bumper car mechanics to deal with in the game. That wasn't basketball.

This is much more like the game I thought I was buying. I'm looking more forward to messing around with it now.

Thanks for some feedback. I didn't make a ton of changes. I finally got the shooting percentages down and didn't want the patch to mess it up. Now for the body up sensitivity which was my saving grace. Since the dribble animations are fixed and much more smoother, would you say we can put that at default 50 again? I had mine on 30 and the cpu on 40 and it got rid of a lot of the bumping.

I really can't say for sure. Sliders are so individual. For me, I had my body up sensitivity, off the top of my head, at 0/30 but I jacked up CPU defensive awareness to like 80 or so. That was to give the CPU some defensive advantage back after I pulled back on the CPU rugby defense so much.

I will look into maybe rebalancing the body up as I play more games if necessary, but after one game last night, I did not really feel like there were problems with my legacy sliders. But keep in mind I've done other things with lateral quickness, acceleration, speed, rebounding, steals, play passing lanes, hands, ball security and other stuff, both for CPU and user. All those things and more affect the total package of game play and balance.

This is why I'm thinking that, for anyone who had a decent slider foundation for themselves pre patch 6, they should start with that and tweek in increments post patch. For people who just had given up on finding working adjustments before patch 6, I'd say start with a default package to your liking and make your adjustments from there.

Playing MyGM, played every single game and I'm currently in the Conference Finals.

Since the update, my revenue is no longer recorded. Two home playoff games = 0 tickets sold, 0 concessions and merch.

Unbelievable.

I don't know what to think about the game anymore. After feeling not much had changed yesterday, I had 4 very nice games today on Superstar MyCareer. Player collisions felt better than before.

I still think the double teaming and constant stepping out of bounds of the CPU (I had it happen 3 times the last game, I recorded all to make sure it's not just some normal thing that happens in real games too) is kinda game breaking since all my matches have been very close at the end. So losing one or two possessions due to bugs is very annoying.

# 177 ch46647 @ 11/23/16 05:55 PM
Double teaming has to go. Play as the warriors, defenders will sprint aways from Klay and Durant to double Curry.

Improved fastbreak logic and the removal of those drawn-out and intrusive pick up dribble animations?

I'll take it. Can't wait to test out this new patch tonight.

These two issues are much improved!

Game is playing great offline after the patch so far for me, the best it has ever been actually. Im seeing a lot more "free" feeling play, seeing animations i haven't seen before, guys scoring/missing where they should and fast breaks a lot better. My guys don't get bumped when trying to take off on a break so much anymore!

Props to 2K for sticking with it and to Da Czar for that response quoted back there somewhere, really great work.
BTW i play offline and adjust body up sensitivity down to 35/40 for cpu/user or thereabouts.
