NBA 2K17 News Post

NBA 2K17 patch 1.06 has just arrived for PlayStation 4 (7.4GB) and Xbox One (2.6GB). Once the patch notes have been released, this post will get updated. Until then, post what you're seeing!

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.

GENERAL
  • The Hornets will now have their correct court projection during the pre-game presentation.
  • Fixed an indefinite simulating screen that would occur when your MyPLAYER retired after the completion of his 20-year MyCAREER.
  • Fixed a hang that would occur in MyGM/MyLEAGUE when attempting to enter the Staff Signing experience when the team had no Assistant Coach (retired) and an expired Head Coach.
  • Addressed an issue in MyGM/MyLEAGUE where a league filled with Classic and Euroleague teams would sometimes hang late in the season when simulating.
  • Fixed a MyTEAM Challenge case where the in-game overlay would claim the challenge was not successfully completed when it actually was.
  • Addressed a case where a MyTEAM card that was sent to the Auction House could still appear in lineup menu as being available (when it actually wasn’t).
GAMEPLAY
  • Fixed an issue where pass icons were not appearing for users playing in 4K on the PS4 Pro.
  • Removed some long, drawn out dribble loss (pickup) animations from the body up system to improve responsiveness.
  • Made some aggressive bump back dribble collisions MyPARK only.
  • Prevent defenders from being able to steal the ball from an inbounder immediately after checking it in when playing in MyPARK.
  • Make sure all players are in position before checking the ball when playing half-court games in MyPARK.
  • Sped up the CPU’s ability to get into its offensive sets and run plays.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause CPU-controlled ball handlers to run out of bounds when attacking the baseline.
  • Cleaned up an issue that lead to unrealistic speed bursts in some size-up escape and combo moves.
  • Fixed a case that caused the wrong dribble move to queue up when attempting to perform driving combo moves (e.g. double crossover).
  • Updated Broadcast Stadium cameras for Bucks, Mavericks, Kings, and Clippers.
  • Beluba camera updated to zoom out more in transition and to have a wider range of zoom and height adjustment settings.
MyPARK/2K PRO-AM
  • A number of performance improvements to solidify the Pro-Am experience.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause some users to hang when attempting to hop from one park to another.
  • Users can now unequip the skateboard and mascot outfits from their MyPLAYER.
Many other small bug fixes and adjustments were also made, game-wide.

NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves unless noted otherwise.

I have him perfectly Defense on the post with Nance Jr. and Black just say did you just say "help" homie? I got you.

OGFilmRoom needs to add to NBA 2k17 as to why such and such team or player isn't successful.
I think that might a roster/tendencies issue. When I PNO games, the AI seems to rotate pretty good to the open players when there's a double team being called. In online games, it has a good chance of being OP.

However and since I can't see which player my opponent is controlling, I can't say if the rotation was done by the user or AI. Right now, I'm assuming the user stays with the double team and lets the AI play the passing lanes.

Not disagreeing with what you've suggested, but I've found you'll get more realistic and organic gameplay with a solid human strength advantage.

You can also go into roster edits and take a good defender and while using mass edits lower the strength. You'll see his overall drop a point or two an you'll see his descriptor change from defensive oriented to something else.
FYI- I'm using a minor modification to the Simworld sliders. They have Strenght set to "2" for both Hum and CPU.

I will upload my slider set to the Xbox 2kshare. You xbox guys can give them a shot. I recommend using the Simworld roster as well.

Would you guys be opposed to removing automatic double teaming all together until\if 2k can find a solution this year?

Nah it was boneheaded and Stupid trust me. Dekker was hot because of an alley opp dunk and a steal. So the CPU feed him the ball and Nance was playing good to great positional Defense and each time down Dekker got the ball on the Elbow/highpost this ish happenned. Made me mad enough to tweet this to the #ogflimroom(pure frustration).

I play with default 2k Rosters no editing, just assigning plays.

For 18 if not 17, I would rather have the option, on pre game settings or roster editing settings, to be able to choose who should double whom, when a player is hot.

Not at all. For some reason my teammates in MyCareer started doing it now too without me hitting the double team button. It's probably ACE that is doing it but you can not double team Curry if you leave Thompson open. No one would do that. So this is affecting me now on both ends suddenly.

I don't think this is a workable solution. They need to make the AI rotation better when a double does come.

I havent played for a few days, and just did some scrimmaging to re-aquaint myself with controls.

But it feels like the first pass and reception to start transition is much less clunkier.

What rotation? There is nothing to rotate. There will always be one guy open if a double team comes. And it will come as fast as the first play call sometimes.
It's not about that, it's about it being annoying as hell and making no sense at all. No NBA team plays like that.

I know users say there are too many doubles. The reasons why users say this need to be investigated.

I don't see this, but when I do see doubles the problem is the other 3 defenders stick to their defenders and don't seem aware a double has occurred.

Play with the Warriors. As soon as you score 8-10 points you will be doubles consistantly the remainder of the game. It seems hard coded to happen more often with specific players.

You are correct on this dirk. The other defenders do carry on as if there is no double team occurring. AI offball defense is too reactive instead of proactive in a number of instances. Double team and pre rotate situations are just a couple of situations in which all 5 defenders on the court do not seem to be remotely on the same page.

And yes the double team threshold is not high enough. I just dont see a situation in which a team would double someone because they have points in the 1st quarter

Yep. I've got a few videos of me playing with Griffin, a CPU defender comes off Redick to double one pass away. That should happen very rarely but nobody came to Redick until he caught the ball.

The logic needs to be tightened so that defenders are ready to rotate when a double happens.

Im not doubting it. Im just saying I don't see it that often.

I see doubles if i score 4 or 5 baskets in a row with someone, but im pretty sure the doubles always stop for me if i start missing with that player a couple times, or shoot with other players a few trips down. Like, they don't just keep doubling him the whole game, which sounds like what some people are seeing? Anyways for me, it hasn't really been a problem to be honest, similar to some past 2Ks in that regard going pretty far back i feel.

How do you guys like the "wrestle in the mud" "crawl like we're fighting for an NFL fumble" minigame that 2K forces you to play when you get a clear steal/loose ball?

EDIT: Just gonna add another thing. Can 2K fix the CPU and human speeds? Heat Lebron with the ball on a fast break just got beat down the court by Boston Paul Pierce.

i was watching the first one min of the GSW IND game and the first touch by A. Jefferson at the post I saw D. Green doubling him. he hasnt even dribble the ball yet, and no score yet. that was GSW defensive scheme where Al is one of the top offensive threat.

if we wan help 2k we prob can help think of some ideas how the double team logic should work. for years, the DT has always been a player scoring a ton pf points then it got triggered. last year, once yor star player crossed midcourt, DT was triggered and a lot of posters complained about it, citing game un-playable.

what would be yor expectation on DT?

Game plays very well after the latest patch. Dare is say 2K15 levels, which I believe was the pinnacle.

Sure you give up some easy baskets but I chalk that up to bad defense by bad players.

UI and sub screen/TO screen are still one of the worse decisions in the history of man, but I'm liking the gameplay.

Gameplay is much better but there still too many unnecessary animations when I get around the defender.

Speed is much better but that 2K killer crossover the CPU makes the user do when the CPU is beat.
