NBA 2K17 News Post

NBA 2K17 patch 1.06 has just arrived for PlayStation 4 (7.4GB) and Xbox One (2.6GB). Once the patch notes have been released, this post will get updated. Until then, post what you're seeing!

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.

GENERAL
  • The Hornets will now have their correct court projection during the pre-game presentation.
  • Fixed an indefinite simulating screen that would occur when your MyPLAYER retired after the completion of his 20-year MyCAREER.
  • Fixed a hang that would occur in MyGM/MyLEAGUE when attempting to enter the Staff Signing experience when the team had no Assistant Coach (retired) and an expired Head Coach.
  • Addressed an issue in MyGM/MyLEAGUE where a league filled with Classic and Euroleague teams would sometimes hang late in the season when simulating.
  • Fixed a MyTEAM Challenge case where the in-game overlay would claim the challenge was not successfully completed when it actually was.
  • Addressed a case where a MyTEAM card that was sent to the Auction House could still appear in lineup menu as being available (when it actually wasn’t).
GAMEPLAY
  • Fixed an issue where pass icons were not appearing for users playing in 4K on the PS4 Pro.
  • Removed some long, drawn out dribble loss (pickup) animations from the body up system to improve responsiveness.
  • Made some aggressive bump back dribble collisions MyPARK only.
  • Prevent defenders from being able to steal the ball from an inbounder immediately after checking it in when playing in MyPARK.
  • Make sure all players are in position before checking the ball when playing half-court games in MyPARK.
  • Sped up the CPU’s ability to get into its offensive sets and run plays.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause CPU-controlled ball handlers to run out of bounds when attacking the baseline.
  • Cleaned up an issue that lead to unrealistic speed bursts in some size-up escape and combo moves.
  • Fixed a case that caused the wrong dribble move to queue up when attempting to perform driving combo moves (e.g. double crossover).
  • Updated Broadcast Stadium cameras for Bucks, Mavericks, Kings, and Clippers.
  • Beluba camera updated to zoom out more in transition and to have a wider range of zoom and height adjustment settings.
MyPARK/2K PRO-AM
  • A number of performance improvements to solidify the Pro-Am experience.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause some users to hang when attempting to hop from one park to another.
  • Users can now unequip the skateboard and mascot outfits from their MyPLAYER.
Many other small bug fixes and adjustments were also made, game-wide.

NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves unless noted otherwise.

Spoiler

I've been saying that about the stacking and also having a 90+ 3 along w/ how easy it is to shoot even at a 70 is ridiculous. But I don't think it's much Mike can do w/ the shooting this year because of how bad the caps are. I think they'll have to get it right then.

But I read your comment and seen a big man shooting crazy so I decided to record a few of his shots. Some of the shots is silly that he's smacking them and was doing it all game IF he got the ball. The thing that kills me and shows me its OP the most is the nerve all these dudes have to take these silly shots. It's just telling me they know it's OP so they go take whatever shot if they have a little space lol.

Two in a row:

I am glad they did something about moving screens but wish they turned it up some more because it's still these screens all game. Also improve how I defend them. Look at my guy, it's like I am in a pinball machine getting bump every which way lol. That would also help combat the shooting this year.

Let's just hope they don't screw it up again, someone should contact them and point that out. Every time they make it good i start to feel clock ticking as if i don't have much time do play and enjoy because it's going to get worse sooner than later.

People should realize that online is totally different than offline and MyCareer is a another thing again. Demanding that they should lower 3pt percentage is ridiculous because it would also change the modes those people don't play.
Even worse, you don't have sliders in MyCareer. I happen to really like the idea of that mode, it's the only thing I play except for a tiny bit of MT Domination. But people saying they don't give a **** about that mode anymore are probably right...

People saying 2K17 doesn't need updates anymore. Like come on:

- It's still kind of silly what's happening in MyCareer with the double teams.

- The AI still doesn't work on offense or defense in transition (I read that tweet and I really hope it gets fixed).

- The textures on the shoes (esp. metal textures) are still messed.

- They made dribble escape animations run their full course instead of letting us move out of it (I assume this was for speed boosting purposes but idk).

- ACE seems wonky. It works, but sometimes it doesn't.

We'll see if 2K can get through these.

I am neutral towards the patch. I play online only and last night I played 5 games in PNO with the Raptors

Positives:
- less picking up the dribble
- CPU intercepts more passes, so some crazy passes that were succesful are now intercepted

Negatives
- Transition offense is still broken, people go and stand at the corner (read that Czar will try to fix it)
- Defenders still look that can put you into their magnetic field in which they can grab you or hold you via their hands wide open and no foul call

- Biggest letdown for me,
passing in the paint can still be abused. Even though the A.I interceptions are higher, the paint Defenders act like perimeter Defenders. Most of the time they RE-ACT, while they should be PRO-ACTING

Differently than the perimeter players, the post defenders try to avoid their players receiving the ball. If an 7'0 tall guy gets the ball IN the paint is almost a certain 2 points.

In 2k17 (and 16) the post defender does't seem to worry about his player receiving the ball in the paint, but tries to react when this happens. Well, it's too late

It is very worrying when you play a guy online and his 46 of the 55 points are points in the paint for example.

Anyone tell me if they are seeing the AI (offfline) get crossed up/broken ankle animations again after the patch at all? Seemed like that animation all but disappeared for me a few months back, would be great if it was still there at least occasionally.

I broke JR Smith's yesterday so yes, it's still in.

I just finished reading all the replies and can't say I'm impressed so far. I stopped playing online years ago because of the cheats people use. As a result I play MyCareer or RTTS or similar modes. And it doesn't appear they addressed the issues in MyCareer—double teams and transition offense.

Like I said before, theres still instances where defenders shift back in front you when there should be a 'turn the corner' animation happening. If they can clean this last piece up i'll be happy as far as 1v1 interactions go....even if the CPU is still a bit sticky.

With that said, still happy to see a lot more instances like this instead of being randomly knocked back or stumbling

Fairly certain this hit for PC yesterday as well. I downloaded a 136MB patch yesterday morning for 2K17, which matches what I'm seeing around the web. Gaminformer says that the patch hit for all three yesterday (here), so I'll take a look at this when I get back home.

Sadly, I have the Warriors next in my MyLeague ... I'm not anticipating a win.

If the mods could possibly update the thread title/original post to include PC in it, that would be appreciated. A few of my brethren are wandering in the wilderness trying to determine if we've even gotten the patch (the last patch notes on the Steam patch are from Patch 1.04, back in October).

I have it on PC and PS4 and it is def not the same...the Bucks camera was fixed, but in the pc version nothing changed...etc...cpu offense sets quicker now on ps4, pc version no changes...

PS4 patch was 7gigs...

Check steam update history...still says patch 1.04 was the latest.

The Steam page is notorious for being ignored by 2K, we don't get any information there that's not available somewhere else well before 2K gets around to updating Steam.

If you check this here you'll see that the buildID has been changed, which means a new patch was submitted to Steam and pushed out. I'm fairly certain we're at 1.06 but confirmation is hard to come across via websites -- PC patches also tend to be much, much smaller than console ones, so the size is not indicative of whether the patch hit or not.

Other users within the NBA 2K17 Steam discussion area are confirming they received a 136MB patch and are seeing some changes listed in the 1.06 Patch notes, so I *think* it's out but I'm not sure, as are others. Still, the 136MB patch hitting the same day that Patch 1.06 hits for PS4 and XboxOne seems to indicate that it's the PC's Patch 1.06.

But, when it comes to PC, it's guesswork with 2K sometimes. *shrug*

Yeah, that looks pretty close to ideal for me as far as driving contact. You shouldn't have to go all Rucker Park to turn the corner on someone when you have a skilled slasher. My biggest issue has been the unpredictability of the controls during the bumping animations. It just feels like I can't do anything unless I have a significant amount of space between me and the defender.

Very much looking forward to playing this later, been on the fence about trading the game in for weeks. Glad I waited it out.

For the generated rookies in MyLeague/MyGM, do we still have to edit some of their tendencies? and what about their progression and regression?

This is definitely the biggest change for me. Before the patch I thought it was just an issue on my part. I assumed i either wasn't taking the right angle or just not driving at an appropriate time, glad to see it was an issue that was effecting others.

It didn't make sense to me that great ball handlers or bigger wingman, like Lebron, would be picking up their dribble just because a defender cut them off. I can understand that this will happen from time to time, both in the game and real life, but most players aren't picking up their dribble everytime they get bumped. Perhaps worst of all was the delay that wouldn't allow you to pass or shoot until the animation played out. I'd like to see them allow you to pass or shoot at any point during the animation with varying results based on the player's skill level. Someone like Lebron should still be able to pass accurately out of such a situation but a less skilled player might throw a wild pass.

Again, I say that ridiculous stepback hop step move needs to be either removed or make the person forced to pick up their dribble or shoot after they do it once. NO big man in NBA history does that, and it just looks stupid in general.

They need to call that multiple hop step crap a travel or double dribble, the separation it creates and still allows a stand still shot grade is moronic.

lol you answered your own question. People who buy the game but don't spend another dime after that are not priority #1. They don't buy VC or MyTeam packs or anything like that so why focus on them when they won't increase your profit margins?

Do I agree with the practice? Who cares? But I do respect the business hustle behind it

Not trying to start a war or anything but a lot of the things are being fixed in these patches are for the better of everyone not just online guys and the roster guy is not the guy who does the gameplay so gameplay fixes (for problems that affect the whole game) have nothing to do with you not getting a roster update. And we MyCareer/Park/Pro-Am guys have been very neglected too, it takes them months to fix things that are borderline game breaking exploits (Moving Screen, the inbounds steal glitch, speed boosting, the full court laser cherry pick pass every possession, etc.) and last year we didn't even get a fix to any of our problems until the game wide patch to clean up RTTF.
