Madden NFL 17 News Post


Madden NFL 17 title update #2 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it includes fixes to gameplay, franchise, and Ultimate Team modes. Check out the details below.

Gameplay
  • Tuned Wide Receivers dropping wide open passes to be less frequent
  • Auto-Moves now set to OFF for all MUT Solo Challenges
  • Player-Lock camera fixes
  • Tuned Auto-Broken Tackles to be less frequent
  • Variety of defensive run-game tuning fixes
  • Strip-Ball exploit fixed
  • Fixed issue around clock running out on a defensive penalty
  • Fixed issue with QB’s unable to tackle after throwing an Interception
  • Fixed a variety of rare Special Teams issues
  • Defensive tuning vs. stretch/outside zone runs
  • Addressed a variety of fatigue-related issues
  • Nano-detection System improvements
  • Nano-detection System disabled for user vs. CPU games
  • Fixed 'Ice the Kicker' not functioning in certain situations
  • Addressed users holding kick button to take a delay penalty and re-kicking
  • Fixed issue with user not being able to switch players in co-op play
  • Tuned to WR/DB positioning on streak routes
  • Tuning & Adaptive AI to Linebacker fake-out chances vs. counter plays to make defensive reaction better
  • Kick-Meter Accuracy Range increased on All-Pro & All-Madden
  • Decreased 'nearby player' penalty for defender interceptions, making Interceptions more frequent
Franchise
  • Added ability to save/resume solo Cloud Franchise games
  • Head to head Cloud games will now default to the standard camera
  • Fixed issue where players on IR were counting against active roster
  • Fixed issue where user to user trades could be auto accepted when week advances
  • Many stats and ratings menus are now in widescreen format
  • Fixed issue where some heads appeared incorrect while editing
  • Addressed stability issues in Play the Moment, Training, Formation Subs, and Schemes
  • Fixed issue where some players with preexisting injuries would never return to health
  • Addressed issue where stats are not showing properly when viewed on team goals menu
  • Tuned game regression that can occur for quarterbacks
  • Fixed issue where defensive rookie of the year can show up as offensive player of the year
  • Removed ability for kneeling QBs to be hurt while simminng
  • Adjusted fatigue during Play the Moments
  • Punter stats are now visible in the menus
  • Draft Classes will now have varying penalty traits
  • Highlights menu is now available when ending the game on a simmed play
  • Going for it on 4th downs in Play the Moments have been tuned
  • Strategy suggestions in play call will now track multiple concepts
Ultimate Team
  • Added the ability to add multiple items to a set at once (“Batch-Add-to-Set”)
  • Improved MUT substitution screen UI
  • Chemistry art modifications (larger images!!)
  • Addressed the issue where filters in the Auction House would disappear
  • Addressed the issue where the “Unopened Packs” tile would show 0 even if you had packs unopened
  • Surfaced the “restart” button when failing a Solo Challenge
  • Game speed is set to default for all difficulties including Rookie and Pro (no longer “Slow”)
  • Auto Subs in MUT Solo Challenges are now working correctly

So I deleted the patch and turned off my internet and redownloaded the game.

It is sooooooooo much better. Only annoying thing is that the first patch must have added auto assignments (no longer an option in CFM). Very happy to go back though.

I have heard theories that Penalties have an affect on gameplay but I have never heard any thing about QB accuracy affecting run blocking. Man people have crazy theories.

They may be crazy to you, but for them, it's been tested.

While I swear when it comes to madden people think ever thing effects something that it is not suppose to effect. Do you have a link to his testing?

You need to check out his slider thread in the slider forum.

As I mentioned, he said it to me on Twitch today.

He's been testing sliders for several years with Madden and NCAA.

I can understand the skepticism when it comes to penalties. I have tweaked penalties from 50 to to 65 in the past few madden games finding a good balance and didn't see much effect in game play in that range.

Maybe you see more effect with sliders all the way up. But I did put defensive holding all the way to 99 and didn't see a difference from 50. I eventually moved it down to 63 because I was getting calls even though it was set at 50 in game so I am keeping it there until it gets fixed.

On another topic, I sure wish they would fix QB a.i. I have been averaging 4 sacks a game with the latest tuner and it would help me out if the CPU would throw it away or scramble instead of just standing there or continuing to run backwards. Some of these sacks are really dumb and half of the time I am not usering the player.

If the fixed the QB AI no one would ever get sacks because they have nerfed pass rush so much. In other words fixing the AI would require fixing pass rush, but that would require fixing offensive line and general oline/dline interactions.

You know that point where they are pedaling and pedaling forever. Throw the ball away already! When you have a nose tackle getting sacks and no one is open for like 8 seconds. Give it up already! At least fix that.

I played a huge amount of Madden over the weekend - went from Week six of my first season right up to pre-season one of season two.

I think the game is playing well on All Pro. I'm not finding field goals as easy as some of you - they're missable if you lose concentration or make a mistake, which makes sense to me. The AI is missing them too.

I'm seeing plenty of inaccurate QB throws. Which is nice. I saw the QB run an option play the other day (Cam I think) which looked great and fooled me completely. I even saw a DPI call yesterday which I've never seen on default penalty sliders.

The commentary sucks.

One thing I'm seeing a lot of though and I'm not seeing mentioned elsewhere is facemask penalties. Since the weekend I've averaged probably four a game, both sides of the ball. Is this normal?

I had been playing AM with some slight slider modifications (dropped accuracy for hum and cpu to 40 and bumped pass coverage and reaction to 52 for hum and lowered int). I was getting pretty good games although I still completed passes at a really high rate.It was not uncommon for me to complete 80% or more of my passes. The cpu offense was a decent challenge.

After reading this thread I went back to AP default. It's odd but there isn't really too big of difference between difficulty levels. The game definitely plays different though. I complete passes at a lesser percentage on AP. Coverage seems tighter, more knock outs, etc.

My problem with AP is so far in 2 games (small sample size) the cpu plays offense the same regardless of team. I played the Bills (me) vs the Eagles and I picked off Wentz 3 times,sacked him 4 times. I got out to a big lead and played conservative down the stretch. They made the final score respectable 30-20. Shady ran for 210 yards. I completed 68% to the Eagles 63%.

Here's the problem though. I played the next game as the Browns (me) vs the Patriots. I got out to a big lead (Pryor deep ball, Pryor long Wildcat run), picked off Brady 3 times in the first half. Patriots offense just not dynamic enough. Essentially running on first and second down and passing on 3rd and long.

I deleted the tuner, and don't have that big of a problem. Not like it was prepatch. For me anyway. I was getting like 6-8 sacks.

Ehh that pretty similar to user play. Good qbs throw the ball away, bad ones hold onto it.

Actually I was on all madden, and came back to all-pro. I then deleted tuner. I can't compare how all-pro plays with or out. Not positive it does anything. But listening to everyone talk about cpu accuracy at 0. And still accurate. At 5, I still miss passes. But I believe bcruise deleted it and said the accuracy was still there. I also deleted my profile. Maybe that was it. Idk. Sorry I can't give a straight answer. Just my experience

Any word on the punt issue from ea? Do these guys realize the game is completely unplayable when every punt goes
20 yards of the wind is over 10 mph. This is a complete joke. They've known about this for weeks and weeks. They don't care but I'll never buy another madden again

There is already a thread for that, and yes, there is a fix coming at some point.

You can Play the Moment for punts and get back to your game for a quick fix.

Is it just me or is anyone else seeing false starts constantly from the CPU. Iam talking about 15 times a game on default.

I can live with CPU punting the ball 25 yards but not when it's 4th and 20 because of all these false starts.

Right now the game is unplayable for me against the CPU a patch to fix ths current patch can't come quick enough.

There doesn't seem to be much talk about it, is there a way around it

I have not had the punting problem at all. I think the shortest punt I have ever seen the CPU have in madden 17 was like 25 yards and that does not happened often. When it comes to false starts no I am not seeing them that many times on default. I forget where I have them set to but I know it is higher then default and I don't see like 15 a game. The closet I have seen to that is like 2 games when the CPU was getting close to scoring got like 4 false start in a row and like 7 or 8 for the game. I had to lower it some after this patch.

Game is going back, this last patch nerfed running to the point that opponents are doing nothing but all out blitzes causing fumbles or picks by nose tackles
