The PES 2017 demo is available now for Xbox One users, weighing in at 3.3 GB. Queue it up right here.

UPDATE: The demo is now available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Another thing fixed, and I am still in shock the demo has changed...

On top and superstar the cpu used to do this annoying thing where at kickoff the opposing ST would bum rush you right after you tapped it to the other player.

Played 4 matches now and have not seen that happen once. That is a welcome change as well.

Notice the D overall is better.

I'm confused. How is it fixed? Like Konami is fixing it magically? I'm confused.

No idea how it's been done, but it's definitely fixed.

The cdm moves up into the open spaces now if not needing to defend

The whole defensive back line is less static.

No more felony assault right after kickoff.

IMO everything about the gameplay which was great feels even greater.

And no clue why. I am as shocked as I think matt is. He had been putting it out to konami what was wrong but nobody thought they would fix it for the demo.

How has it been fixed without downloads? Have you checked your downloading record?

Man, it's gonna be a long year if people are already talking about gameplay changes before the game is even out, let alone before a patch. Gotta watch out for placebo and confirmation bias, guys. Lol. Don't see how (or why) Konami would touch gameplay on a demo.

Edit: at minute 26 of the video (name:Konami listen me?) you are in a very similar situation to the video I posted on which I was reporting that CB were running out from the ball carrier until they reached the penalty area. On your video the two CB behaved so much better. They retreated a few meters then stopped to block the progression of the ball carrier. Great!

This is literally impossible, any changes they would do to a demo it had to be through a download, an update, a patch, whatever. At least in the PS4, don´t know about PC or Xbox...

Im not saying there are no differences, but those are the result of something else besides an update.

Meanwhile, i stopped playing every game i was playing and im glued to the demo!

Look, I agree. I have no idea how any of this happened.

But look at Matt's videos.

And I did not see it at first when I grabbed the demo, it's tough to see because it's off screen. If you are pushing the ball forward why would you be looking at your CB's or CDM?

I saw it after Matt explained it in one of his streams last thursday or friday.

Then I see his post from last night and jumped onto his stream and he showed us how it was fixed in the demo.

So I jumped out and tested it myself on PS4. The CDM moves up and fills the space.

You have to go into replay to see it.

All I know is it was an issue since the demo came out and now as of some time yesterday it is not an issue anymore.

I played the demo for another hour or so last night, and it's going to be really tough to play FIFA now. I'm getting used to the PES controls, and it'll make it even tougher switching back and forth.

I haven't played FIFA 17 yet, but the PES 2017 demo is definitely stronger than FIFA 16 in the gameplay department. There are so many more little things in this game that catch my attention and impress me.

It looks great, and I won't be surprised if the final product looks even more crisp. I played mostly night games to start with, but day games look magnificent. I'm looking forward to playing more tonight.

Has anyone been able to draw a penalty kick against the CPU? I have given away two so far but haven't had to CPU get commit one against me.

Had one! No straight red card so far despite having been aggressed a hand full of time.

No trace of a download but I agree this game has changed for the better.

Yeah this makes me wonder if they can change gameplay server side.

Which would be huge if so.

But only of course if they make the right changes. So far so good if that is what is happening.

Now that positioning has been fixed, physicality and midfield play are all around the place.

The beauty with this game is that you are permanently forced to create

Thanks everyone. I posted this on NGB, sorry I'm too lazy to type it all up again:

I had spent the majority of the week testing various teams in PES 16, to see if the DMF issue was still occurring. To this very second, it still is, and never got fixed. Here is what it looks like, since I don't want to waste anyone's time with 2 hour long videos lol. I'll make sure to stream for less than 2 minutes for the proper attention time next time

This is what it looks like, when the ball is way up the field:

PES16 -

- DMF is directly in front of the two center backs.
- DMF serves no purpose to help the offense.
- CB's are not spread out far enough.

PES 17 - before (footage from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdJr_L8BoWE)

- DMF is still in front of two center backs
- DMF still serves no purpose to help the offense.
- CB's are not spread out far enough.

PES 17 - now - Attacking FB instructions on

- DMF is now involved in the attack.
- DMF is properly positioned for transition by being in front of the forwards.
- CB's are spread out further apart.

PES 17 - now - Attacking FB instructions "OFF", All Attacking instructions "OFF".

- DMF is still involved in the attack.
- DMF is properly positioned, (a bit tight to the attacker for my liking) for transition by being in front of the forwards.
- CB's are spread out further apart.

So now the DMF is getting involved in the attack a lot more, they are not just stagnant in one spot:

This is why there are more shots from outside the box off clearances. This is why it is less end to end (as in midfielder/defender pass straight down the pitch to an attacker), and why there is a lot more build up from the CPU.

Overall, you may be asking - why is this even important?

Because it made its way in PES 16, and never got addressed, never got fixed. Some may not look at the radar and wonder about those irregularities, but as broadcast camera user, the radar is my dear friend. This disconnect that happened in PES 16, was making its way into PES 17 as well. I told myself, if I saw it once, I'm going to post about it and hope someone learns from it. If it happens once, it will happen again.

The odd thing is now I cannot recreate the PES 17 - before look of the CDM, from the footage I posted. It wasn't a one-off, it was happening quite a bit. I have no explanation on why it's different now, but whatever it is - the game will be at full potential for best football gameplay ever - and I mean that. Agree or disagree, the proof is right there in the videos. I'm not going to question it anymore, and just hope that it makes its way into the final version of the game. Absolutely cannot wait for this game. Yikes.
