Overall the gameplay has really gotten better. (Here comes the not so good) The graphics overall have improved, but are really stale in others. This is what ruins the imerison for me, it's the players body types, and well players in general. I know that we won't always get the whole MLB player representation...but c'mon some big leaguers have been on the big league squad for a while and still haven't been scanned. For instance, I'm a Cardinals fan, most of the roster has been off the last 3 years!! Yes 3 years! I'm becoming increasingly frustrated and annoyed by this. We are one the best teams in baseball for the last decade and we can't get any love?! Yadi's scan has been off for years, Randall Grichuck(sp?) hasn't been updated, Kolten Wong is just off, I can't explain it, but he is...along with a few more that are just off...I know we haven't had a roster update, but it's been years since a Cards update so why would I expect this update to be any different? I can't be the only Cards fan that feels like we get the short end of the stick with the Show over the last few years...Am I?? Anyway, good to great game that needs to def. be REFRESHED, so to speak...
"...but c'mon some big leaguers have been on the big league squad for a while and still haven't been scanned" I feel you on this, but I'm guessing not every player wants to get a face scan

I finally start my RTTS. Buy some stubs and it's not showing in my account. This is crazy.

Also I miss BP before the game.

Imo this game is growing stale. Great game, but u not really missing nothing if u stick with 15'

One major head scratcher is why only 5 save slots max for franchise and season?

Would love to know the answer to this.

It's a PITA with all the classic rosters, season files etc. I know we have USB but I have to save the file to the usb then delete from the HDD because if I don't and say I overwrite a 2016 franchise file with a 1987 franchise file....then I go to save it to the USB as well....it wants to overwrite a file on my USB with a different season/franchise file.

It's crazy.

I'm perplexed and hoping maybe someone knows the answer.

Why do we have the option for Daily Rosters in Play Now when the rosters aren't updated?

For example, I found a starter (with starter stats since Play Now / Daily Rosters now tracks stats during the MLB season) that was in a team's bullpen and not listed as a starter.

So this stater that just threw several innings the day before was now available as a bullpen arm. That defeats the purpose of playing this mode.

I've also seen lineups being shown incorrectly. If we are using Daily Rosters, why aren't the lineups the same as the game we are playing? I can understand playing a game that has not taken place, but if I play yesterday's game, the lineup should mimic the actual lineup card unless I specifically make changes.

Seems Play Now Gamers are ignored here. Or am I missing something?

I have seen Matt Moore and Chris Archer in the bullpen at the same time using daily rosters....

I haven't been able to play DD for 3 days now. It finds an opponent and then the Challenge Failed error appears every single time.

No other game I play online is having any issues.

I really miss the old Play Now mode. In MLB 15 was great, never had a problem, lineups were correct and there was even the complete box score. Now you have only the final score, daily roster doesn't work and sometimes, it depends on result, you can't even know who is the starting pitcher.
This was Play Now in MLB 15:

Well....you're assuming that those posters are correct in their assumptions.
They are not.

Personally, I don't get the impression that the game has gotten away from realism. The game is as realistic as its ever been, if not more with some of the new animations, the new hitting concept, and the changes to franchise mode. I'm not sure what exactly it is about the gameplay that has people believing that its taken a step back from realism.

And if the one of the biggest complaints is the grass, well then I would have to think that SCEA did a pretty bang up job on the game for this year.

Just my .02

Your opinion may be that the game is moving towards arcade.
That can never be incorrect.(your opinion)
But your assumption that it is....can absolutely be incorrect. The basis for it.

I never said anyone's opinion was wrong.
But nice try.

The lack of realism issue is more a presentation issue, then a gameplay one. Especially if you are talking about RTTS.

There have been so many cuts and removals over the last couple years, the actual experience of coming up to bat, the actual at-bat itself, and the in-between are basically a pure arcade experience at this point.

Hopefully with the introduction of Hybrid and Quckplay, they can restore Broadcast to how it was.

In terms of gameplay, I am seeing a lot of homeruns, and not a lot of singles, but I need to play quite a bit more to see how that plays out.

# 594 CMH @ 04/15/16 12:29 AM
I played on broadcast today and it didn't show any batter walk ups but the first one every inning.

I switched to hybrid and it has walk ups. Switched back to broadcast and walk ups were back.

I think something is screwing up the two options which might be why guys are seeing different things than the developers intended.

Just finished my first game of MLB The Show 16.

Threw a PERFECT GAME versus the Diamondbacks with Noah Syndergaard. 14 K's. Won 3-0.

(Never thrown a no-hitter in any baseball game.)

Best. Game. Ever.

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME !? It seems the camera angles have changed during the flight of the ball DURING FIELDING. I remember in 15 you could actually view the ball in the air as its coming you direction. Now if someone hits a HR and I go to the wall I can't look up to find the ball. Do I have to change a camera or am I not pressing a correct button? Please help me.!? Overall I give the game a 9.3 and that's only based on having no loading screens and the fast pace play.

I can easily get on board with that. Go back and play MLB 11 (still a great game after all these years) and experience broadcast presentation....or if you really want to see another way...real time presentation.

The pace, the walkups, the foul balls, all the fidgeting by batters after each pitch. yes I know MLB is trying to speed up the game...but it still has it's nuances. Those have been slowly removed over the last 3 years.

I still love the game. But I totally can get on board with the presentation being cut too much.

It has gone a little over board IMO. I want that full robust baseball game experience we used to have on 11....hell even 12 still had most of the elements.

Great point.

As far as too many HR's....I would say keep playing. I am seeing all kinds of great games and hit variety has never been better. They nailed it this year. It's been an evolving feature (ball physics) that I have noticed each and every version get better and better.

I watch baseball everyday, multiple games (flipping back and forth with MLB Extra Innings like most of you I am sure) and the amount of monster HR's has increased two fold, the amount of errors I see on a nightly basis thus far has been astounding (George Springer had a doozy of an error...he looked like a little league rec ball player that's how bad it was which led to a 5 run inning with 2 outs)...so all kinds of things happen in games.

I don't know if it's really a bug, but I like to play with Quick Counts on and the Pitch Type screen off. I use my catchers finger signs to determine which pitch to throw.

The problem is that the Quick Counts notification that displays during the first pitch of every at bat blocks the catchers fingers for about 5 seconds. It's not a huge deal at all, but kind of annoying.

I was a big fan of the Real-Time Presentation in this game. Count me in the camp that is disappointed with the amount of presentation features that have been chopped from the game over the last 3-4 years. I understand why SCEA made some of the decisions they did, but some presentation features (throwing ball back to the pitcher, batter stepping out of the box after a pitch and going through his pre-pitch routine) could've been kept in, imo.

Armor, I know you mentioned that the season totals don't show in the OSD when a batter comes to the plate in Franchise ... do we know if this is something that'll be patched? That's a pretty big oversight.

Yeah it's bizarre because totals show in the first AB but underneath a blank slate next to Avg, HR RBI OPS

Then in the second AB I have actually seen season totals below the large today's game stats. Then it never shows up again.

I have to believe it's bugged and a patch will address it.

I hope at least. If this was a design decision I am baffled by it as in the real MLB broadcasts it is always there and the series stats as well which have shown up for me (thank god)

But series recaps in pre game presentation I have yet to see which were great.

Fingers crossed on a patch addressing some buggy OSD's
