I agree with leaving the options in...they had always done that in the past. I guess they must be running into "space limitations"?

How about they remove the silly little sequences that occur when you leave the game alone for a while? I don't really care if the center fielder wants to do pushups or the umpire strums the bat like a guitar...save the space for something that matters.

Really think space isn't an issue, I have no idea where this idea that there a space limitations coming from.

Agree on that sequences though, I even find them slightly annoying, like then don't fit into a serious sim and take me out of the immersion even sometimes.
Other thing is the need of the devs to present themselves in game all the time, don't mind having them as spectators but why do they need to be shown so often and only them...

Most of these scenes and animations are still in the game, they just have it programmed to skip through them.

I have heard the devs bring up space limitations before. One example was brought up when talking about the size of the jerseys and how they are unable to have players wear their owns jerseys in the All-Star game because of how gigantic the jersey files are.

Honestly that sounds like some extreme inefficiency.

Space limitation is a pretty common problem, especially if you're using an old engine. It's not the console hardware, but in-engine limitations. There are slots for everything: teams, animations, sounds, etc... . And obviously, adding or removing things can be easy/difficult depending on the engine specs. I have no details, but probably SCEA use its own engine and only SCEA knows its own limits. This engine was build specifically for PS3, which was a strange and unique creature while PS4 and XBoxOne are pretty much like a PC. You can use a NASA PC but if the engine set a counter to 100 for teams, the counter will be 100 even if your hardware can land a space station on Mars. It's a software problem. And if the software is an old one, you'll have more problems.
Honestly, brodcasting issues are a different beast. Animations are still there, they simply cut down their lenght for whatever reason or because telemetry or maybe they think baseball should be faster.

I have to believe it's bugged and a patch will address it.

I hope at least. If this was a design decision I am baffled by it as in the real MLB broadcasts it is always there and the series stats as well which have shown up for me (thank god)

But series recaps in pre game presentation I have yet to see which were great.

Fingers crossed on a patch addressing some buggy OSD's
Also hoping it will be patched and it is not a design decision.

From the presentation/commentary stream.

Yea I also think we are suffering now for how well the game (engine) was working on the PS3.

Yep, cause the game was optimized for a very specific hardware/software which is very different from what we have now with PS4. MLB The Show on PS3 was a miracle. Probably one of the best looking game on that hardware with over the top resolution ( 1080p ) and framerate ( 60 fps ). Now it lives on its own past cause it was glorious, an outstanding technical gem. That's why it looks still fine even if it feels outdated. We can live with that, SCEA is a small ( and talented ) studio and build a brand new engine is a lot of work and resources.
However, this release of The Show is quite unpolished, there are many things that don't work as intended and technical wise is a hit and miss, especially if you compare it with MLB 15, which was a fine and solid release out of the box. I don't want to spread too much negativity, i'm enjoying the game a lot and i can't wait for OSFM V2 to start a franchise and another RTTS player. But the game needs a lot of work, few more patches, it's pretty clear they have rushed it a bit too much.

Fingers crossed.

People mentioning the engine......I'm not sure much can be done about that. The cycle isn't long enough to do a brand new engine given the time constraints and limited personnel SDS has. About the only way they can do that is skip a year and Ramone has already said several times that that will never happen.

It's too bad they didn't feel the need to implement a new engine or heavily modify the current one when they began developing for the PS4. I doubt we see the game improve very much visually or performance wise until they do, and I doubt we see it anytime soon.

In my opinion the game has improved visually and performance wise from the first installment on the PS4 til '16.

But just my .02

I've only played two games and man its a beautiful looking game, but the baserunning pretty much makes it unplayable. On a clear base hit the runner on base will just stand there. I'm sure others have posted about the same problem, but is there a fix for this? I was hoping they would fix it with the update. How did they miss such an obvious error?

There are others discussing here:

Reds vs. Cubs - I control the Reds - system controls the Cubs. Count is 1-2 - Simon bunts, fouls the ball off gets to stay in the box.

The game still has numerous issues but I really don't see any work being put in for season mode etc.

It appears most of the patches cover franchise etc.

Oh well, still a blast.

I have noticed other issues and have created error reports but have no faith I'll see a fix. Minor issues like the pitcher's pitch count is always over-stated after the game. I've had pitchers throw around 100 pitches, take them out and then the final box score the game reports they thew over 145 pitches. Must have been counting pitches during warm-up.

I for the life of me cannot find a happy medium for pitching this year. I have tried slider sets from others on every difficulty, I have tried my own slider sets on every difficulty, I have tried default on every difficulty from allstar on up. I just can't find it, I either dominate everyone, or get rocked by everyone. It's really getting frustrating, because I have my hitting perfect for my liking. Just can't manage to get that sweet spot with pitching where I get a lot of variety. I really don't know where to go from here at this point.

Try dynamic difficulty. You'll dominate for a while until you get to a balance point.

There is a major problem with MLB 2016 The Show and that is the base running, especially when set to AUTO. This problem has been reported numerous times but as of this date 4-24-16 there has been no response to this problem. This problem needs immediate attention NOW.

You haven't been paying attention but Ramone has said the base running issue has been addressed in the next patch.

Oh how I love watching the CPU make roster movements (Recalls and send downs) during the season based on performance.

Also love the commentary this year. Joe Ross through a No Hitter in his last start. When he took the mound for the bottom of the 1st, the announcers acknowledged his no hitter in his previous start!
