NBA 2K16 News Post

NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

UPDATE: Patch #4 is available for PC and Xbox One now.

Check out the patch notes below and let us know what you are seeing!

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

off ball d is fine imo for myleague vs cpu. once a while i'll caught up in the screens but it happened when i fell 'asleep' on the plays the opponent ran. my controlled players will go where i want them to go.

did u mean mc? got some vidz to show? also not quite sure on what u meant by false stepping.

There definitely was crazy issues w/ movement before patch #4. I still wonder why it happened to some users and not others. But most I talked to had issues.

Now, I am not having those problems being mentioned. It might happen slightly, but it's nothing like it was before.

Feel sorry for the dudes still experiencing this because this is most likely the last patch and that issue damn near made me quit 2K.

It really is weird how people experience patches so differently. When you and others say that you are not having these issues that are destroying the game for me, I completely believe you. But it makes the problem that much more frustrating, too. The answer must be some combination of: how you play, whether you play mostly online or offline, and whether you play on XB1 or PS4. It still doesn't explain the huge discrepancies, but it's something.

Yeah. I had the movement issues bad last patch. Player not turning around, running out of bounds on change of possessions and etc. After the patch, I feel a lot better. Not as good before patch #3, but it's a lot better.

I've missed so many alley oop dunks since this Patch. Anyone else having the same problem?

It's like there are 4 different version of the game out right now. If this was a PC only game, then I could understand because all kind of crazy stuff happen with video cards, drivers, motherboards, etc. but for console versions to seemingly play so different from each other is really strange.

hmm ... u mean when play onball defend or on offense?

for onball, i'm at 30 defensive assist strength and it works great for me offline myleague - the player go where i control it. i tried once on 100 and dislike it - the player slide more than where i want them to be.

for off ball, i absolutely got no issue and i rely heavily on it to counter the cpu ai defender nonsense.

for offense, the player movement in pnr plays, freelance triangle, post moves, crossovers - they are working great for me. love those crossover animations.

Yes, I'm talking about in MC.

Here, I sprint along w/ James to the left elbow, FT-line extended. He moves to the top of the key, I follow, but somehow end up at the right elbow. I get back in time to cover any driving angles, and he puts up a shot that misses.

https://vid.me/uluW

Inputs: followed LBJ to the corner & kept my eye on the action on the bottom of the screen --- when I see Irving pass to Love and sprint over, I feather LS to the right & get ready to R2 past him --- LS & R2 past the screen shadowing LBJ to the left elbow --- when he makes his move to the top of the key, I'm following him but right here:

My player stops responding & subsequently slows down, so I tap R2...and he goes flying all the way to the to the right elbow.

In this vid, check out how my player stops a dead sprint, and hesitates at 0:13. I'm assuming that my progress was somehow impeded by Mozgov's presence, but I never fully regained control of my guy. After the hesitation, he runs off to Bron's right shoulder. I was damn near dragging him back in front of LBJ, and when I finally got him there, and the shot went up from the left wing, my player turned around and started basically tap dancing near the lane.

https://vid.me/NTh3

Inputs were: feathered LS towards LBJ when he makes his move from the corner --- still feathering LS to stay between him & the hoop --- LS down and R2 to sprint behind him when he cuts to the top of the key --- still holding R2 & LS down when my player pauses --- release R2 & LS --- hold LS down and slightly left to get in front of LBJ...my player goes directly to the top of the key & to the right & slightly behind LBJ --- I move the LS up and then slightly left to step back and move over in front of him and that resulted in the tap dancing that you saw near the FT line.

After that hesitation at 0:13, I never felt like I was in control of the dude. All of that extra movement was not what I was doing w/ the sticks.

I'm saying...this wasn't happening on Dec. 15th (day 1 of patch 4). What I mean by that is: tapping R2 in the situation in video 1 did not result in my player flying off several feet away from who he's guarding. That situation wasn't the first time where I had to try to get in front of someone, especially from a standstill, with the aid of R2 after patch 4, but I don't remember having a player in full "dead sprint" animation from one tap...from a standstill.

Same thing in vid 2. On Dec 15th, I could course-correct and go where I want to go. That entire situation was a cluster**** of "the hell is going on rn...?" I did not move my LS in the directions the dude was running. And every attempt at a re-route, lead to more confusion.

The game isn't broken...I'm not complaining about losses or whatever folks whine about. I'm just saying, I can see & feel when my inputs are not being played out. I just don't get why it's all of a sudden happening now, when it wasn't a week ago.

Only thing I can think of is that the 'main menu update' had some sort of a negative affect. It's not supposed to, no...but that can happen with the code, depending on the architecture of it. I work with code for a living, just in a diff field. If anyone can appreciate the fickle bitch nature of code/programming, it's me; and any other developer/programmer/engineer in here.

But unless I was playing a diff game 7 days ago, those weird movements weren't there. I'm refraining from calling it 'input lag', because some of them aren't my inputs at all.

So glad I can hit the CPU back with these now and muck possessions up as much as they can mine...

opponents keep lagging out online i guess, or either quitting in close games due to lag

ok saw the video. it seem like the momentum brings the player past the spot where u want him to be.
can try this? continue to feather using the left stick and turbo when u feel u need to chase. now when u anticipate Lbj coming to a stop, use the left trigger and put the left stick to centre. sometimes i do use alot of the left trigger + left stick to prevent them from running out of the designated spots. momentum is part of game and used to be worst in past 2K where they move like sliding on the ice skating ring.

i'm really not sure if this works in mc. in myleague, i use 30 for defensive assistance and the above controls work for me. if that applies in mc, i think it may help. when i used 100, i experienced A LOT cpu sliding effect (on ball). sliding as in the player doesnt come to a stop when i place left stick to neutral position.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the game and there's still this horrible input lag. Has to be patch 4. I checked everything. My internet connection is solid, my controllers work fine with any other game and my monitor is damn near brand new. Either my ps4 has a problem running the digital game online or patch 4 has some negative affect on my game.

I'm actually really enjoying playing as a big again..

I'm ignoring the bad now, and just accepting all the good.

So from tonight,

Game 1 in Pro-Am:
23 points, 26 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks.

Game 2:
28 points, 28 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks.

Game 3:
37 points, 25 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 10 blocks.

I got screenshots too so don't say I'm lying lol

Unless Verizon is throttling my connection I shouldn't be having these issues. The game isn't laggy like connection lag but more like severe input delay.

Welcome to my world, these issues have gone thru the roof after latest 4th patch. Moving is like 0.5x awful.

This is too serious man, i'm all in the same experience with you. Players move with heavy input lag. Sometimes i see my centers or pf's running the half court like they are being shot with a bullet on the way and moves like 'i'm hit i run, i'm hit again i run again oh i'm hit now i run' if you know what i mean. This is really bad online/offline. First i thought it was my connection but no.
Worst of all some like you and i experience and some never does, that's the worst of all..

It feels better playing defense that is for sure. Everything feels too fast, but again you can adjust game speed so it isn't a big deal.

I do agree with the input lag comments, and I play offline.

I've spoke about this many times ... Don't know how the hell this got into the game and the devs let it pass... For those of us who play mygm and MyLeague it ruins the game as you can not react in a timely matter on offense or defense... It's not a mass complaint bc we are only 15-20% of gamers who play the CPU in franchise modes etc. ... The other 80% all play Myplayer ... So they never have to control there team or defend the AI each possession lol. If so the masses would have screamed and 2k might have fixed the game. ... NBA 2k is a RPG... With a small drop of sim.
