NBA 2K16 News Post


NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

UPDATE: Patch #4 is available for PC and Xbox One now.

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

I did the last game actually draw a charge, 1st since patch 4 released. When the game 1st came out I would get a few, but this last patch is when it seemed I started not getting any or seeing very many. Not that there were anywhere near enough before, when you compare to real life, but patch 4 seemed to actually nerf it when it didnt need nerfed, there actually needs to be more for both user and AI.

While I agree that you shouldn't be able to sprint into someone's arm and get a steal, you also shouldn't be able to pull some And 1/Globetrotters ish and dribble through defenders like they don't exist.

-Reward good post players/punish bad ones.
Why put all this work into refining the post game, only to have hooks and fades miss so much? Yet people can just spam the power back down for 4 seconds then hit the shoot button and force the ball in with absolutely no move performed...or at least let me send that into the 10th row and not give me a foul animation.

That said, it feels like a switch was flipped the past two days and I can dominate in the post again. Not allowed to do hooks though, just up and unders...
I had 25 15 and 5....at half, in a Pro-Am game then everyone quit. Made me have hope in 2K again.
Yeap....

I played a Cavs user last night for the first time in weeks, and the guy was just gliding right past my defenders as he ran through the paint with a full head of steam.

no prob. charging calls definitely toned down. i think it takes to understand the opponent tendency and using the proper controls. if u have the tendency to play onball, u have the tendency to keep bumping the left trigger and getting ready the right stick to contest or the jump button for block shot. onball is so fun that i dont think abt pressing the circle for charge calls. if only 2k could fix the cpu ai defense otherwise i cant enjoy onball to the fullest.

Yeah, it seems the CPU onball defense on HOF is harder than it's ever been.

Especially since they bring double teams sometimes now.

I'm just about to stop playing. I can't shoot, I can barely move to where I want to, Players reacting slower than ever on defense, On defense I feel like I'm being moved around, Pushing the left stick fully has me walking instead of running at times.

Unless Verizon is throttling my connection I shouldn't be having these issues. The game isn't laggy like connection lag but more like severe input delay.

Ok will they ever fix your players randomly standing out of bounds after a timeout?



You're telling me Calderon spawns by the Blazers bench with his man wide open in the corner lmao? This happens to me all the time but usually it's the inbounder's man but this is the first time I've ever had a shooter's man standing out of bounds. I almost blew the game because of this nonsense.

This is ruining the game after patch 4. I was just in perfect position to steal a pass right under the basket, only to have the ball pass literally through my elbow to end up in the arms of the CPU player who, of course, threw down a dunk. Why is it then that when I pass to one of my teammates, if the ball so much as brushes a CPU defender's shadow, it's deflected. Please fix your broken game, 2K. It's gotten to the point where I will have to give NBA Live a rental next year.

Do you see how weird and uncoordinated his steps are as he runs into the lane? Those little slight hesitations and hitches when running what should be a straight line... That's what I'm talking about that wasn't there on day 1 of patch 4. A straight line was a straight line.

I have a few vids of my player in MC taking the weirdest chop steps in all sorts of directions, and all I was doing was guarding LBJ. I'll get those uploaded in a bit.

It's as though all human controlled defenders have had 12-pack, or so, and their reactions and motor functions are dulled. This really needs to be fixed, but I'm afraid that another patch might just make things worse.

My idea for next year is to tie cut offs from the R Stick into the left trigger...

  • On Ball defense is overpowered against the CPU. The CPU is just too sticky on the perimeter good defenders , bad defenders, average defenders seems to not matter as much as far as the level of defense the CPU can play. -I need to have full control of my players, they go in different directions where I don't want them to go
-I pressed the steal button to try to intercept a pass and my player went 10 feet tumbling over in the slowest animation you'll ever see
- I can easily cause someone to lose the ball just by sprinting straight into the player, same thing players do to me too
- terrible defenders like Enes Kanter easily strip the ball from you when you're driving in
- when you're driving in for a layup and a blocking foul is called, it's never a shooting foul

I could only imagine how good this game could be if you had control of players. I'll try to do a Dribble move but the game is in some canned animation and he won't do it

Can you change directions easily without your players taking a false step? And if so, how are you maintaining contact with the CPU when a player you're guarding takes off, without using turbo (which leads to the random false steps)?

On ball D is fine. Don't continuously crowd the dribbler, give space to cover driving angles, and use LT judiciously. But off-ball D is a mess.

Yeah man it's really not that tough for me to get around...could be that I spend a lot of time in practice messing around...I don't know. Honestly, I think the patch helped the P&R even more as far as coming off a pick for a jumper. They cut the steps you take when coming to a stop short. I wish we could go back to prior patches so I could show if.

The main movement issue for me is getting the ball in transition.
