NBA 2K16 News Post


NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

Not feeling this patch #4......... At all.

And I really TRIED to give it some time & get used to it.
Game after game, I put up with it.

Been playing MyCareer mostly.
And now the whole mode feels so 'unbalanced' now. (And not in a good way.)

To me, it feels like the scoring has been changed drastically.
Feels like a real STRUGGLE to score more than 6 points before halftime.

- Before Patch #4, I could score at a decent clip... and drop about 10-17 points by halftime. (with 8 min qrtrs)

- But now After Patch #4, I cannot hit the VERY SAME SHOTS before halftime.... that I CAN easily hit in the 4th quarter.

And it's extremely irritating when my halftime scoring is always only like 2-6 points.... but I might finish the same game with 25-35 points....(which means that I am FORCED to play 'hero ball' in the 4th quarter, and put up a ridiculous amount of shots just to score roughly 20+ points, or so... cause its the only way to stay within 'striking distance', in order to win the game.)

It's like Patch #4 really turned the dial up on the 'hero ball' aspect of the MyCareer mode.
And playing 'team ball' has been nerfed.

Patch #3 was soooo much better, in my opinion.

So...does anyone have tips for shooting after the patch? I was shooting pretty well before patch 4, and now I literally have trouble making layups, and go for very long stretches without scoring. It's like the entire shooting system has been changed. I was also playing good defense before the patch, and now I can stop nothing (gave up 63% shooting my last game). The turbo CPU rebounding is also back (got out offensive rebounded 22-7, and this is not an isolated incident). A lot of people seem to be liking the patch, so I realize it's probably my fault, but it gets very, VERY frustrating having to completely relearn the game every time they drop an update. Especially when the game was damn near perfect.

A guard is the best paint protector in this game. God forbid you try and take the ball to the paint when there's a guard their because 9 times out of 10 you will get stripped.

Even if you know where to launch the animation will change from dunk to getting stripped.

All these Post Moves and none of it results in a basket at the pro am except the post fade/post shimmy. Maybe post hook. I did a drive to the key and missed the wide open layup. I did a post fade to the outside shoulder and the game faded me the wrong way once again .

Yeah...unless another patch comes out, I think I'm done for the year. In a week, this game has gone from, "This is amazing" to "Hmm. Maybe a slider set can fix what the patch has broken" to "I can't wait for MLB 16...". Great job, 2K. Seriously. You rendered the best sports game ever virtually unplayable. Why, WHY did you bring back the "Point guard puts his head down and drives, no matter what, until he gets a layup or a foul" offense?!

It's really weird. I'm at the point where I'm scared to attack the paint on fastbreaks when there's a guard waiting on the other end, especially when there's an elite one like Westbrook or Curry. I just settle for a mid-range jumper now.

Hell I had my point guard get stripped by another point guard going in for a layup yesterday.

I don't know why you guys are complaining. I don't see such a big difference. Yeah, the game is changed but in my opinion NBA2k16's patch four is one of the smallest patches in 2k's history in terms of gameplay changes...

The real problem IMHO is that last two patches killed the "physical" game..I see less contact.....less block....I also feel less weight on players

CPU plays better...but overall I like the game more pre-patch (the last two patches I mean).....

This is exactly what I feel like after this last patch especially. It also seems, there is absolutley no charging calls now. I have seen only 1 and it was the AI who drawed it against me. Now when you set up to take a charge the player just kind of moves backwards a tad and either nothing is called or its a blocking call, also the player might just fall down like a flop and no call is called too. Not that charging calls were called enough to begin with but now there is basically none. Personally the lack of charge calls I have always felt is all the fault of the online whiners, back when you use to see charges called in the game, I remember a lot of onliners crying about it, and every since then there has been hardly any charges called in the game.

Live ball was nerfed way too much. Now guys like Steph Curry and Westbrook never lose the ball when crowded and dribbling.

Honestly man, the only thing I feel regressed defensively is the live ball...I actually feel like I can stay in front of the CPU better post patch...and the defense at the rim is much better w/o the bail outs...

Hate that stupid PG strip though...

It's hero ball time at the park...before the patch whenever I played with a random he would pass it to me but now since the live balls been nerfed they just dribble dribble dribble trying to break down the defender.

It was actually fun to play with randoms this year but now not so much....

Oh well...

Love the strip. Been loving it for years specially in the park.

Patch #4 was definitely an improvement for me and others that had the movement issues. So it saved the game. Only issues is w/ shooting. Other than that, hopefully the game is final.

Has anyone notice a slowdown by the PG when he crosses the half court line. If feels like he's running in mud...

I tried several different games and different rosters and I'm geeting the same results...
