the great thing about this game is that one game, I can feel like it's way too easy. I beat Leicester 8-2, Bony had 4 goals and I just generally dominated possession.

Next game a few days later against Arsenal, I lost 3-2. Sure, the difference in teams is big, but I could tell a difference, too.

also, there are fouls in this game :P

I agree somewhat dmendenhall_but I dont think Fifa 16 is up and down out the box at all nor is pes for that matter sure they can be if you play that way but then the games just come down to the way you play pretty much.

When i get the full game i will be editing a couple of teams Defensive lines higher and max out compact . See if it helps at all.

Matts Video on the Pes defense is pretty spot on, thats the bigger problem in the long run not the fouls . They need to play the ball more and not mark space or the man when they usually end up doing neither.

Both games are vastly improved in my opinion and worthy of any ones money.

Im getting both for sure.
Classic case of Developer competition pushing each other and why its good.

Im playing both games on Pro and nerf my own abilities if i i feel its not fair. Ive always thought pes was best played at pro and Fifa this year as soon as you go to world class it seems it just backs of your defensive line to give the cpu more room around the box.

Going to be a good year for Footy gamers

Edit:- Fifa has loads of fouls so if anyone isnt seeing them i dunno its pretty spot on.

I'm getting at least 4 fouls from the cpu every game I play on superstar with 20 min games. One game I got 7 fouls out the cpu, and not all of them were slide tackles. I guess it all depends on how you play and what settings you play on. For those saying it's too easy to score, put the game on superstar, the speed on -1 and set everything to manual. I guarantee you will get more of a challenge.

First of all, I liked the demo but it made me feel sometimes meh about scoring, now I switched to manual shooting for a few games and although 98% of my shots ended up 5 blocks away from the stadium, when I actually connected one, wow, great feeling.
I switched to assisted 1 level for 1 game and I won easily 5-0, so I am hoping I can master manual shooting more.

Fouls, same as the demo, I really hope they fix this, it was nice to play fifa demo and actually get fouls from the AI. (set pieces suck though, esp penalties)

Gameplay, for some reason I feel it plays a little better, my players are running better in spaces, the AI is not ping pong-ing so much as the demo. However I feel they could be a bit more aggressive in the attack

Commentary is good, after hearing the same thing for 5 years anything is good, although a few more lines will hopefully be added next year as I've heard the striker's name shouted quite a few times already.

Kits: I understand people are p*ssed off about the OF, but I fixed the BPL in 35min and it was totally worth it. They looked great on the PS4 and the process was easy.

In the end, I was late for work today because I kept playing games, something that didn't happen in the demo (could be that I was just tired of the same teams, or the assisted goals didn't give me any enjoyment). Enjoying the game.

Everyone knows how to manipulate FIFA w/ sliders but this game is different. What have you even done to change the game to play the way you want? FIFA out of the box is like that too! Just up and down. That is what casual gamers want. We are the minority. Anyway in a couple days I will post some vids of simulation type gameplay and how I achieved it. Of course some people from won't even look at it and just keep being ignorant.
I don't know. Maybe some of these issues can be improved upon with different settings but the number of easy chances I'm seeing is reminiscent of FIFA 15 to me in that they are due to AI programming issues, issues that can't be fixed with fluid formations, different tactics, different settings, whatever. It's the same as not being able to "fix" last year's defensive issues in FIFA with sliders. Same thing.

For example, I'm creating super easy one-on-one chances by simple 1-2s, with defenders not properly tracking runs; I'm seeing CBs not properly mark attackers, allowing for too much space and easy chances; I'm conceding far too many goals because my keeper parries and a CPU attacker responds quicker than defenders in the area.

It shouldn't be up to the community to adjust the game to accommodate for its flaws, whether it's with sliders, passing settings, fluid formations, manual passing, whatever.

And by the way, FIFA plays anything but an up and down affair this year right out of the box. In the FIFA demo, I have to work for my goals. In this, it just feels all too easy to create chances.

Really loving playing the game with game speed at -2.

If you choose Fans View camera, you will soon realize that -1 speed is way too fast.

I was playing -1 and it was ok but now I can't switch back.

At -2 and fans view camera the game feels perfect.

Graphics suck badly tho.

Can't agree with that. Yes, Fifa has better overall atmosphere as you play the game, stands look better, etc, but the graphics aren't bad. I also think PES nails player likeness much better than FIFA, especially their face scans.

Good stuff Matt, as always. I can say with certainty that the game plays differently on the higher difficulties. The lines are much tighter and AI much better about containing and not over pursuing. I'll stream in twitch later playing full manual and Superstar, I'd love your input.

I was doing the same thing on Top level.

I was really killing the AI.

However, once I switched to Manual passing and manual shooting. The game plays great.

Also, I get killed in tournament modes. The AI defense is so aggressive and solid.

It's so hard to beat defenders 1 v 1 when playing during tournament mode.

The replays on PES are amazing(always have been). It is probably the only game that I choose to watch the replays at halftime and at the end of the game.

Graphics from the Fans View Camera suck!

Up close graphics are amazing.

I actually did the camera view from behind (not sure what it's called) but it was fun for a game here or there. Gives you a different view of the field and passing lanes.

My favorite thing about PES is what a lot of people hate and that is it's customization. I love changing kits, editing players(hairstyles in this game are great if that's your thing) and changing formations and tactics.

Agreed. I decided when the squad update comes out, I'll start a ML with original PES lineup and use my home town team, the Colorado Rapids and put them in the Championship and move my way up. I like that I can change their kits each year if I want to.

3 games played so far. Absolutely love it!

I play 10 min halves on superstar with -1 game speed and manual passing.

Fouls:
-CPU fouls me 2-3 times per game - no complaints here.
-I foul the CPU 5-6 times per game. (I'm a cynic so I take tactical fouls to stop the CPU from countering). I was playing as ManU in my second game versus Chelsea and Fellaini got a second yellow in the 70th minute as I was trying to stop a Chelsea counter attack. Ended up scoring a 85th minute equalizer with 10 men and drawing 1-1. That game was so friggen satisfying!

Atmosphere:
Chants for licensed teams are authentic. I'm a Juve fan and when they started singing songs I recognized I joined in no joke

As you move up in difficulty do the CPU players get attribute boosts, or does it just get smarter?

# 98 duffman @ 09/16/15 02:18 PM
How has the cpu goal variety been? In demo and in most videos I've seen online, looks like they like to dribble into the box and shoot low almost all of the time. Is that the same in retail from what you guys have seen so far?

Yes, too many people playing on low difficulty settings with assisted controls, gives a wrong idea about the game...

Matt, play the game on Superstar and see if the CB gives you the space you complain early in the video. Play with no assisted settings also, to see how hard it is to create chances against CPU.

Really, we complain about the people in FIFA thread who play with the default demo difficulty (semi-pro) and say the game is easy, we canīt do the same here. Your videos are great, but this one is "tainted" by judging the defensive AI of the game on a very low difficulty setting...

BUT the games DOES have a very severe problem on controlled shots inside the box to the far post, the go in at an alarming rate. This is the biggest problem with the game and possibly a game killer one...

Certainly not feeling anything like a sim experience that's for sure.
Try upping the difficulty a bit.
