Matt, play the game on Superstar and see if the CB gives you the space you complain early in the video. Play with no assisted settings also, to see how hard it is to create chances against CPU.

Really, we complain about the people in FIFA thread who play with the default demo difficulty (semi-pro) and say the game is easy, we canīt do the same here. Your videos are great, but this one is "tainted" by judging the defensive AI of the game on a very low difficulty setting...

BUT the games DOES have a very severe problem on controlled shots inside the box to the far post, the go in at an alarming rate. This is the biggest problem with the game and possibly a game killer one...
Yeah the video was from a couple months ago when the first look of the demo was posted showing Bhatti playing (the IGN one). I couldn't verify of the lower difficulty, but throughout the video I mention that I believe it was on a low difficulty - so I hoped that was the case.

I bought the game last night expecting to sneak in some time with it before work - but no such luck arrived. I definitely plan on providing my thoughts as the defensive animations are what I'm most concerned about - and not just from the demo, but videos I've viewed on youtube.

I'm going to hold off until I read what you have to say, I must admit though I spent some more time with the demo today and I came away pretty happy

I tried. I tried to love it. But its just not possible. I can't play this anymore.

In 12 games the CPU scored directly after me, every time. On that kick off they would find some way to get an insane almost magical like run into the box. Within in seconds of kick off, with 2 or 3 players vs all 10 of mine. And once the CPU is in the box its all over. They hit the far post top corner every damn time. Its crazy. And not a single one of those games had less than five total goals scored. And not a single CPU foul. I just can't play this game.

Very odd. Must be the way you play then. No one has directly score off a kickoff after me yet, and my goalkeeper comes up with big saves in the box a bunch.

If you play PES like FIFA you will get destroyed Guaranteed.

The key is to not rush the game. It's a better strategy to cut off passing lanes to forwards and intercept than to try and win the ball. When you chase the ball it opens up gaps in your defense and opponents on high difficulty will exploit that space everytime.

If you watched the Barca-Roma game today, you should try to play like Roma. Sit back and congest the midfield. When you win the ball, counter attack quickly.

Playing PES like FIFA is like Roma playing kamikaze football vs. Bayern (Roma lost 7-1; they chased the ball and got destroyed because they left gaping hopes in midfield for Bayern to exploit).
Play PES patiently and defensively and you have a much much better chance of getting a result.

I'm just seeing lots and lots of poor defending all around.

Change your controls to Type 2 (FIFA controls). The default setting is Type 1.

I guess it all depends on how you play and what settings you play on. For those saying it's too easy to score, put the game on superstar, the speed on -1 and set everything to manual. I guarantee you will get more of a challenge.
Most people wont do this because it make the game too hard.

I think most people want a challenge but dont want to be frustrated by the challenge. There is a HUGE learning curve switching everything to manual and -2. I personally play this way, but i think most people want a pick up and play experience with limited frustration.

This is what I love about you PES die hards. The first thing you assume is someone else is "playing the game wrong".

Maybe you could post a video. Your experience seems to be very different from most I have talked to.

lol if you're getting scored on that easily right after scoring you're probably doing something weird.

I haven't experienced anything like that before.

How long have you played PES before this? Do you play FIFA more than PES, generally?

Well, maybe not wrong. Just poorly.

There is no "right way" to play the game. That's the beauty about football; there are so many ways to get a result. That being said, some strategies are more effective than others.

If you're not playing the game on Superstar, (maybe Top Player), you're doing it wrong. I honestly don't get the stuff people are complaining about aside from lack of fouls. Even then, that just means you're dribbling with little variety. Basically, use the L stick to twist and shift at the last second to fool the defender into fouling you. It's much easier with forwards of course. This is the best soccer game I've played on the pitch. I think people just aren't used to it. There's no way people are blowing out the CPU on Superstar. Lots of complaints looking iffy. Also, the more realistic game speed is -1. There, the dumb speed complaints fixed lol

its a view from 8 miles away from the pitch. What graphics do you really expect from that view?

Dribbling with little variety? So if we are passing the ball, we aren't going to get fouled? What about 50-50 balls, do those result in fouls? Any fouls for when a player miscontrols the ball and their attempt to gain control of it again results in a foul?

I'm not trying to be smart, but you're the first person to describe how you've been fouled by the CPU.

FWIW, higher difficulties on PES has notoriously been known to produce more of a challenge, but in all previous PES - the higher the difficulty, the more gaps that open up because of the aggression level (PES3-PES6) shown by the players. I hope this isn't the case.

Went ahead and bought the full game because I was so underwhelmed with the FIFA demo, so it wasn't a difficult decision.

Settings: Top Player, 15 minute match

-1 speed feels right. Overall game speed doesn't feel faster than the demo to me, as others seem to have observed.

Shooting and passing on default feel fine to me playing against the CPU on Top Player (my usual difficulty).

Fouls are weird/tricky. I played a match as Real Madrid vs Espanol and I drew 5 fouls, including two yellows on one player. And I wasn't doing anything special with regards to dribbling or movement, the CPU was just being physical. Then the next match I drew only 1 non-offside foul.

I'll keep playing and see how it goes. Thus far it's a sizable step up from last year.

It is rare to see a foul call on 50-50 balls from what I have played and I don't think the PES series have ever got that right.

I do get the complaints people are making about fouls there are in the game just very random but people must have forgotten that they really have never been done that well in any footy game until Fifa 15 in which the variety of ways you can get fouled.

My 1st game felt like it was on warp speed (default speed) but I realized I didn't have the 1.01 update. After that the flow has felt good.

Even got in 2 online matches against another OS'er and it was absolutely lag free. Aside from some missed fouls both matches were great against another all-manual user. A 2-1 game between Zenit/Valencia and a 1-0 Milan Derby.
