Madden NFL 16 News Post

The much anticipated Madden NFL 16 patch has arrived for both Xbox One (732 MB) and PlayStation 4 (749 MB). Check out the list of updates below, which include improvements and fixes for gameplay, Connected Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and more.

UPDATE: Just received official word from EA.

Quote:
Players will not need to restart their Connected Franchises to see most of the fixes in the Title Update. However, due to draft classes being randomly generated, you will have to restart if you want the changes to your current draft class, as we cannot retroactively change those ratings.

Also of note, the roster update is scheduled to arrive on Friday, according to Rex Dickson, creative director of the Madden NFL series.

Let us know what you are seeing!

GAMEPLAY
  • Addressed issue where AI defenders would get encroachment penalties after random huddle breaks and occasionally during the no-huddle offense
  • Addressed rare issue where receivers were called down by contact even when they weren’t being touched

So has anyone actually tested to see if the confidence boost bs is actually fixed correctly? Not just are their attributes not going over 100, but are they even still getting large unrealistic boosts at all? Ive yet to notice anyone really test this and seeing some of the things they claimed to fix in patch that isnt fixed, kinda feel like this needs to be tested well too. I would but im at work all day....

So the sim engine isn't working properly?

I didn't fully test it out but I did play a couple of CFM games to try and get a feel for if it was fixed and it appears so.

The first game I played I completed most of my drive goals on offense but nobody really jumped up too much.

BTW, you can see why confidence goes up for players on the field after a play where a green "+1 con" appears above them. Pre patch this was going off like crazy and for the whole team. Now I only see it occasionally so it appears to be much more limited.

I play as the 49ers so I run the ball a lot. Currently 7 games in I am 5-2 and my entire Offensive Line and Carlos Hyde has 99 confidence, but the good news is it doesn't seem to make the running game OP. Their overalls have only been boosted by a point or 2 and i am still only averaging around 4 yards per carry per game.

IMO Drive Goals needs to have a patched in option to get turned off. Some of things it lists are obsurd. In the 4th quarter the CPU was trailing and my defense's drive goal was to not allow more than 40 rushing yards on the drive. Well the CPU threw the whole time, marched down the field and scored a touchdown, but since I didn't give up 40 rushing yards my entire defense got a confidence boost...... after we gave up the tying score.... makes no sense.

You need the tuner to play online games.

And if this does turn out to be another CFM issue due to confidence that's going to be really disappointing.
It is actually.

the play now plays great, but then on CFM, your first game also plays great, but then when you start gaining confidence, its a complete arcade game. user QB never miss passes, OL pancaking everyone. I had 7 pancakes from my LT on one game. And on play now i never got more than 1 or 2 on the whole OL.

Something is happening behind the hood, the rating boost from confidence are not that big, 4 or 5 points, but players does perform much better than that. like i said my QB never missed a pass, even when trying to. This never happend on Play Now.

If anyone can (I'm at work) can we run some sims on a offline cfm with tuner deleted, and see what happens to Greg Robinsons pbk after a couple of seasons. I don't see how the tuner would effect the Sim engine, but I guess we never know. Hopeful since it's affecting (armor +sword) qb pocket presence post patch.

Yes , like last night, my first pass of a possession , threw an int. Whole Oline got xp and confidence for meeting their drive goal " dont allow a sack " .... haha . 1 play . SMH, this is why this stuff needs an option to turn off, like every single thing they add each year should have as ive mentioned before. If you like that kind false realism , have at it, but if you dont , you shouldnt have to "deal with it" . Options people, options. That or dont add a new feature until you have put it in code, and had a full year to make sure it works well first. One or the other, because this is getting really old .

The human run game is too easy

And I'm seeing robo QB rear its ugly head big time.
Agreed. Played 5 full games all-pro default sliders after the tuner. Deleted it, now the game plays fantastic.

To delete tuner, you have to find the file within settings-> application saved data management. At least that's how it works in ps4

Correct, you could also go into the settings menu of the game itself, in the manage files tab and delete it from there.

You can also delete it in game in the file management section.

For everyone testing, don´t compared play now with CFM. Games plays totally different.

I played more than 50 games on Play now (while i wait for the patch).
And i played around 20 on CFM.

PLay now, always plays great, very organic. even with tuner and patch. CFM doesn´t. User QB is too good, and everything feels more arcade. OL being to strong, etc. I thought this was the CFM bug, but now after patch i´m still seeing that.

Last night i was playing against the Jets and i couldn´t overthrow the WR even by tying. My QB is already 92sa, 91ma and 63da. even all deep passes were on the money. It was such a huge disapoointement to see this.

So again, if you try something do it on CFM, game plays different, i guess because the #$"#$%$#%# confidence thing.

This is my guess as well. I think the confidence system is the culprit for cfm issues.

This is one reason we always play our CFM on slow and not normal speed. Normal speed feels too arcadey. Its so fast your players feel more like they are sliding around on ice, instead of planting their feet and making real moves. To much swirving around. Slow speed , you actually see the moves the players are making and they look and feel more real. You have a slight second more to read whats going on during a play. The speed threshhold needs to be about a 30 for it to not feel too sluggish on slow speed but still have a difference in the faster players speeds and the lower ones. Just my take on it.

Came to the thread to post my observations and see I'm not alone. Played 3 CFM games not a single QB under 70% completion percentage. Any missed passed were break ups, didn't see on errant throw like before.

This game plays night and day difference between Play Now and CFM. It's so noticeable to anyone who looks, obviously the confidence / drive goals thing is the culprit as many have noted.

Probably not possible for this year but please allow us to turn this off. This isn't Call of Duty or an MMO. I don't need boosts or the next great piece of loot. I don't need the carrot dangling on a stick routine to keep me playing.

I don't know how I feel about this game only being able to enjoy it in Play Now. I'm really hoping they can do something about this.

I had this same exact thought. Test it with and without the patch to see if maybe that makes a difference. No idea if it would... but anything is worth a shot.

In my save, Russell Wilson threw for 3,800 yards in my first season and the Seahawks went 16-0 only to lose in the divisional round, which is strange...

We have human qb slider at 35 and see pleanty of 50-55% completion percentages. If your issue is with CPU qb, maybe try turning slider down to 25, see what happens. We keep our qb slider up intentionally to make it much harder to beat the cpu if you happen to have to play a cpu team which is rare in our league. Just a thought.

Okay, ran offline sim without the tuner. Greg Robinson pass block down to 64 after year 1, bad but not terrible.

After year 2, 39 but ONLY ROBINSON and Oher are under 60.. Rest of league looks normal.

I also checked qb awareness, no major drops at all. Looks normal to an eyeball test.

Again, this is offline, no tuner, default sliders
