Madden NFL 16 News Post

The much anticipated Madden NFL 16 patch has arrived for both Xbox One (732 MB) and PlayStation 4 (749 MB). Check out the list of updates below, which include improvements and fixes for gameplay, Connected Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and more.

UPDATE: Just received official word from EA.

Quote:
Players will not need to restart their Connected Franchises to see most of the fixes in the Title Update. However, due to draft classes being randomly generated, you will have to restart if you want the changes to your current draft class, as we cannot retroactively change those ratings.

Also of note, the roster update is scheduled to arrive on Friday, according to Rex Dickson, creative director of the Madden NFL series.

Let us know what you are seeing!

GAMEPLAY
  • Addressed issue where AI defenders would get encroachment penalties after random huddle breaks and occasionally during the no-huddle offense
  • Addressed rare issue where receivers were called down by contact even when they weren’t being touched
  • Addressed quarterback locomotion warps on certain drop backs
CONNECTED FRANCHISE
  • Addressed issue where players could receive over 100 confidence resulting in a short-term attribute boost
  • Tuned regression for offensive linemen
  • Tuned rookie deep accuracy rating
  • Tuned supersim stats where pocket quarterbacks were generating too many rushing attempts
  • Addressed issue where team could sign elite free agents for a low amount
  • Addressed issue where some free agents would disappear from the free agent pool
MADDEN ULTIMATE TEAM
  • Addressed a rare issue where certain items would not have an image
OTHER
  • Addressed issue where the commentary line and presentation would repeat for a quarterback who returned from injury
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when using multiple controllers
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when exiting a game and the background video would continue to loop

The first and third show Cutler never ever letting the play develop. Not under pressure...just three steps....take off...with a turbo sprint. Hectic QB play. Never saw this from QB's before at all. The second link shows Forte just running straight into Cutler (knocked him off his feet and he get's up and then throws the ball into the ground).

It happened a 4th time...but I did not catch that on video...but it was the same exact thing as the first and third link.

Once I deleted the tuner the game felt organic, flowed, QB's had rhythm, stayed in the pocket went through progressions properly again.

Just like it did pre patch post tuner.

So I again once I eliminated the tuner (not the patch) the game went back to the great playing game it was on the field before the patch dropped.

I am going to Re-DL the tuner and see if applying it post patch results in the same odd QB behavior in the pocket.

Thanks for being so attentive to the game and the community!
Bro...that play where Forte knocked Cutler down was awesome! LOL Made my morning. Shades of the buttfumble ala mark Sanchez

Guys it would probably help EA and everyone else if there was video of these things. Just saying "the game plays better without the tuner" or "QB's are taking off way too much with the tuner" doesn't really prove anything.

I'm not doubting anyone's word. I just think it would help get the ball rolling faster if there were actual video evidence.

Edit: A&S posted some right as I must have typing this. Lol. Thanks man

One of them was actually on a five wide pass near the goal line and he took off and dove in for the score. I'm uploading now as well as the Play Now game I played earlier and I'll post both when they're finished.
Ok, I was forced to go offline because the servers are down until 9:00 am EST.

So, offline, all pro, and Packers vs Bears.

Cutler didn't take off running at all for the entire half.

I'm assuming this is happens in online franchise(cloud) only?

I am not known to be an alarmist. But just seeing it is not enough.

When you play the game you can feel the hectic nature of this issue. I don't know if it affects all QB's. Cutler is known to take off some times.

But not letting the play ever develop was not happening pre patch post tuner.

Just trying to help. I love this game. And it is the best yet. I have confidence the team will get things working.

They had to rush this patch out. I am sure the next one should smooth over the game and makes most things work to the sim community/offline/online sim players satisfaction. The responsiveness has been great.

A&S - can you do us a big solid (I am at work) and see if deleting the tuner also fixes that LT regression and other CFM oddities?

It was in an offline CFM.

Hey maybe it was an anomaly but again the feel of the game when I deleted the tuner....was so much better again. Hard to describe in words. But I will test again with the tuner DL to make sure. But seeing what I saw 4 times in a half was really mind bending. Never had this happen before. And the frantic nature of the QB scramble/leaving the pocket/never letting the play develop was alarming.

Here's the game's I played earlier. This one is a Play Now game on my custom sliders, All-Madden. I didn't notice anything out of the norm in either game. The Packers game was really fun and admittedly I didn't take the half of the Texans game very seriously at all in regards to play-calling or style. Rodgers finished and I only sacked him once at 30:40 of the video. Rodgers also had a nice scramble at 56:25 and then followed it up with a TD run where I should have sacked him on the next play.

This is a CFM half against the Texans. Mallett was like 14/16 in the half and ran a couple times but nothing seemed that weird. I think I sacked him twice (12:30 & 32:54) and he ran three times (13:17, 27:06 & 32:32). Again, not the greatest test but nothing out of the ordinary to me really.

Quality will probably be poor as they just finished uploading as well.

Fantastic. This will help us out big time. I'll have the team look into this first thing today.

Odd, very odd.

I didn't stream mine, but hopefully with your video evidence and others stepping up like I see Duece did, maybe the team can get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for the response Rex.... I have some more videos a few posts up with Brady.. kind of potato quality but you can see the issue there too.

Rex is a beast! Madden's Creative Director scouring the community and chasing down these CFM bugs? Much respect.

He takes off in all three of them with hardly any pressure on him. A&S's Cutler videos show the issue much better. My vids are from the first drive of the game alone... I didn't have time to play a whole game to get better examples.

A & S, the second video you put up, I was playing Packers vs Bears in the offline CFM.

On the goaline, 1 yd line, Forte ran into Cutler and Cutler threw the ball towards a WR in the endzone, but it fell short into the ground.

I think what is happening is that if a QB is run into by their own player, they think it's a defensive player trying to sack them or tackle them and they try to get rid of the ball quickly.

Just my take.

Mallet 14/16? Is Robo QB back after the patch? I've seen EA do this on numerous occasions where QB accuracy seemed decent right out of the box and then they patch in Robo QB.

I was on Default All-Madden settings and, on those, there will tend to be a lot of robo QB. It was like this in M15 as well as pre-patch/pre-tuner. It's just the nature of All-Madden. Once you tune CPU QB Accuracy down and bump up User Coverage and Pass React quite a bit, you see a lot less of it. In the Packers game above Rodgers finished 25/37 and yesterday I held Manning to 21/38 so it's way more fixable this year than last year.

Agreed, EA literally did not need to do anything in game wise regarding game play this year. Loved it all around. It was the XP mess and sim stats that were dead. That tuner never needed to happen IMO.

Deleting the tuner may be a nice thing for an offline franchise, but a pain for a 32 man online one. I can see now having to walk 15-19 of our guys thru , how you delete the tuner . Hahaha . Sometimes i wonder if some people have ever touched a computer. Im gonna try to get them all on board though. Now to fix the LT regression and speeds.
