Madden NFL 16 News Post

The much anticipated Madden NFL 16 patch has arrived for both Xbox One (732 MB) and PlayStation 4 (749 MB). Check out the list of updates below, which include improvements and fixes for gameplay, Connected Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and more.

UPDATE: Just received official word from EA.

Quote:
Players will not need to restart their Connected Franchises to see most of the fixes in the Title Update. However, due to draft classes being randomly generated, you will have to restart if you want the changes to your current draft class, as we cannot retroactively change those ratings.

Also of note, the roster update is scheduled to arrive on Friday, according to Rex Dickson, creative director of the Madden NFL series.

Let us know what you are seeing!

GAMEPLAY
  • Addressed issue where AI defenders would get encroachment penalties after random huddle breaks and occasionally during the no-huddle offense
  • Addressed rare issue where receivers were called down by contact even when they weren’t being touched
  • Addressed quarterback locomotion warps on certain drop backs
CONNECTED FRANCHISE
  • Addressed issue where players could receive over 100 confidence resulting in a short-term attribute boost
  • Tuned regression for offensive linemen
  • Tuned rookie deep accuracy rating
  • Tuned supersim stats where pocket quarterbacks were generating too many rushing attempts
  • Addressed issue where team could sign elite free agents for a low amount
  • Addressed issue where some free agents would disappear from the free agent pool
MADDEN ULTIMATE TEAM
  • Addressed a rare issue where certain items would not have an image
OTHER
  • Addressed issue where the commentary line and presentation would repeat for a quarterback who returned from injury
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when using multiple controllers
  • Addressed a crash that could occur when exiting a game and the background video would continue to loop
  • Addressed general bugs and stability issues

Are other guys noticing positive results since deleting the tuner? I would tend to agree that it was only a user vs user issue.

What are you seeing play out differently?

Again I have no idea if the patch update worked on my console so I started a franchise and simulated the first week to check stats. A lot of QBs that don't run had 6 carries. Doesn't that mean the patch didn't work for me?

I am only going to post this one more time as I don't want to be redundant.

After DL the patch I proceeded to play a CFM game. Bears at Packers (me).

In the first quarter and a half Jay Cutler would just take off as soon as he dropped back and have a turbo charged burst.

It was ridiculous, and flat out buggy and wrong. The game never ever had this kind of QB play pre-patch post tuner or even pre tuner. It was obvious something was wrong.

I went ahead and deleted the tuner and fired up the same exact game.

Night and day. I had over 40 viewers watching this stream late last night and we played the entire game and Cutler scrambled just one time and it made sense and there was no super charged turbo take off.....he had Peppers in his face on a goaline slant play and he took off appropriately.

Trust me when I tell you....something is not jiving when you DL the new patch in combination with the tuner.

So if you want to play H2H online or draft champions or MUT.....yes you need the tuner. It only takes seconds to DL. But when you want to play the CPU in your CFM...simply delete it.

Until a new patch arrives or a second tuner or whatever...EA needs to look into this ASAP. QB AI/pocket awareness and game speed when they scramble or get happy feet is bugged in combination with the tuner and the latest patch. The game is simply off and a hot mess with the tuner and patch combination. It is simply a different game IMO.

Now a fellow OS'er (Hoos) informed me he re-downloaded the tuner after DL the patch, and the game feels great after three games.

I am going to test this as well and report back. But for now I highly suggest you delete the tuner (which only addresed the dice roll result of one on one aggressive catch results) and it was truly intended for H2H play and the spamming of the aggressive catch going deep. I never found anything OP with aggressive catch playing the CPU and not user catching.....or even user catching. It is fine vs the CPU without the tuner.

Bottom line is.....delete it and find out for yourself if you have been seeing this ridiculous QB play like I did. It was so obvious something was off. And it is crystal clear how it is fine without the tuner.

The patch is fine. It fixed some of the CFM bugs, commentary lines about the QB coming back from injury etc. The tuner is the culprit in how the game is off post patch. It has nothing to do with confidence or anything of the sort.

You always have the option of not DL.

Always. It is not automatic.

Dumb ?, how do you delete tuners?

Thanks for the positive feedback. In my lone game I played last night Packers (me) @ Colts I noticed Luck sitting in pocket much longer and being less aware. He scrambled twice for good yardage but not when he was under pressure, just stood there and took the 6 sacks (12 mins 15 runoff) He did make a very odd throw for an awesome TD late in the game, one in which I got called for PI, it was a first in my madden experience. I gave up a TD and was amazed at how incredible the catch/contact/penalty was. Was a bit baffled that Luck threw it about 45-50 yards flat footed just before getting planted. I clipped the video, it will forever be saved.

I just asked him the same in his slider thread.

He's online, he should be answering.

This does not happen in Play Now, but several reports on here it happens in CFM. I played a half game with Brady vs Packers and Brady was Brady, pocket passer, 16 of 20.

Thanks for responding.

I don't know guys. I played two games in Play Now after getting the patch and already having the tuner.

First game Big Ben took off on me 4 times, didn't seem anything out of the ordinary and I had not yet read of this problem. My Browns beat the Steelers 21-17.

I then read here that Qbs were now running like they should not be and it seemed Brady was one of the QBs who would do this.

I then played a game against the Pats and Brady did not take off once. Pats beat my Titans 31-21.

Both games played great, granted this was only two games but not seeing a problem on my end so far.

Based on the early reports around here, it's not happening in Play Now, but happening in CFM.

So you too are seeing positive results with no tuner? Sounds encouraging.

I still have the tuner, but in my Play Now games, 1.5 games total, I have not seen this issue. The reports are in CFM it is happening.

I am about to fire up a CFM between Brady and the Packers.

I can definitely confirm the tuner makes the game play worse than it did before the tuner.

Tackling is different, and not for the better.

The human run game is too easy

Animations seem more stiff and a lot less organic and fun

WRs have a difficult time holding on to anything

And I'm seeing robo QB rear its ugly head big time.

The game is no longer in my collection, but guys who are saying the game plays different and it's not for the better are definitely not crazy. I noticed it almost INSTANTLY after the tuner

I just did this and started up a CFM. I played a half on basically default everything against the Texans and recorded it. It probably wasn't a very good test but I didn't see anything out of the norm there either. Mallett was the starter and I think he had 3 carries in the half but it definitely didn't seem anything out of the norm. One of them was actually on a five wide pass near the goal line and he took off and dove in for the score. I'm uploading now as well as the Play Now game I played earlier and I'll post both when they're finished.

Rex here are links to highlights I created for you to see.

The first and third show Cutler never ever letting the play develop. Not under pressure...just three steps....take off...with a turbo sprint. Hectic QB play. Never saw this from QB's before at all. The second link shows Forte just running straight into Cutler (knocked him off his feet and he get's up and then throws the ball into the ground).

It happened a 4th time...but I did not catch that on video...but it was the same exact thing as the first and third link.

Once I deleted the tuner the game felt organic, flowed, QB's had rhythm, stayed in the pocket went through progressions properly again.

Just like it did pre patch post tuner.

So I again once I eliminated the tuner (not the patch) the game went back to the great playing game it was on the field before the patch dropped.

I am going to Re-DL the tuner and see if applying it post patch results in the same odd QB behavior in the pocket.

Thanks for being so attentive to the game and the community!

Still no patch for players who like to play offline cpu vs cpu cfm. or a real coach, owners mode. I expressed my concerns to Rex and got blocked. That's cute!!!! I still haven't bought the game. waiting for 2k basketball. They pay attention to consumers.
