NBA 2K16 News Post

2K has just announced 2K Pro-Am for NBA 2K16, which is a new mode for MyPLAYERS. Check out the new trailer here.

2K Pro-Am will feature instant matchmaking, with no waiting and games will start immediately. That means, no "Got Next" spots in 2K Pro-Am.

Quote:
Grab your friends, design your own logos, jerseys and arenas for full branding of your team. After your identity has been stamped, rise up the leaderboards with your team to compete against the best in the world in 5 on 5 matches on full-sized courts with NBA rules in a venue that supports 40 players playing simultaneously.

2K Pro-Am will feature daily, monthly and overall leaderboards with league leaders, power rankings and more. You can completely customize your team and create your own uniforms with the ability to change colors, number size, stripe configurations, collar types, mesh patterns, resizing text and logos (which can be imported) and so much more.

You can also completely customize your arena from the ground up by selecting from various jumbotrons, scorer's tables, baskets and sound effects. If you don't like a particular floor pattern, change it up (Herringbone, Honeycomb and more), along with colors of any line you can think of (out of bounds, key, center circle, half court, perimeter, etc.). Users can create customized text on the floors and sidelines, along with the ability to upload custom images.

NBA 2K16 2K Pro-Am Features:
  • Play with your MyPLAYER - Walk on or form a team with friends
  • NBA style basketball including timeouts and fouls
  • No waiting. Instant matchmaking against similarly ranked opponents
  • Fully customizable team designer, upload images or choose from customizable logos
Read the details, watch the trailer and let us know what you think!

I am praying that I can finally be able to edit the chicago stadium for those classic bulls teams.

Let's say they let all teams play through a qualifying period (maybe a couple of months or so) and invite the top 64 teams with the best record/win pct. and have them play in a one and done type tournament during the month of march for the 2K Pro-Am championship trophy.

Treat the qualifying months as a regular season and issue individual awards at the end of that season, and issue a MOP award at the end of the tourney.
There's no way this would make ppl play more sim. It would actually make things worse because a 1 and done winning format would just have ppl literally cheat the whole way thru lol. Unfortunately.

Only way to get ppl to not use exploits to there advantage would be for 2K to suspended or ban ppl that spam moves and glitch the game out.

Hopefully that peaks enough "casuals" interest to the point that 2K sees it as an endeavor to get into. If anyone can do it, 2K can.

That's my point though. Looking at just the way college games sold when they were out, you could make a great argument that there is no market for the game. NBA games were in a similar spot though. They never sold as bad, but the market didn't look like it does now. NFL games and maybe FIFA (not sure on their numbers back then, I'm just assuming based on soccer's worldwide popularity) were the only sports games doing numbers like what 2K is doing right now. Plus you have to take into account the circumstances around the game.

They never put that game in position to succeed. It always came out in November a full month after the NBA games dropped. November is the time of year where all the heavy hitter games drop like the Halos of the world allowing college games to get buried. They pretty much never promoted it when it did drop or before for that matter. Most importantly there was no MyPlayer for basketball games around at the time. MyPlayer doesn't get near the credit it deserves for its part in helping grow video game basketball into what it is. With a MyPlayer mode, a new release date closer to tournament time and better promotion and they could grow the college game.

You're right on all counts. I have literally only seen one CH (08' I think) commercial on TV and I watch only sports channels. It never got marked and it released a month after NBA games and right during the always packed holiday game season. I never understood why they didn't release it during like Feb during the "dead" gaming season and right before the tourney. I still don't think the numbers are there for an annual release, but releasing every few years (with all being compatible with the NBA 2k's released) and implementing the things you said could bare fruit. People do love MyPlayer and online play and they will spend coin. Like you said, 2K has broken barriers with NBA game sales. Maybe they could double or even triple what the college basketball games did with a great game (first and foremost) and a slight change in the model or release date. Either way, I'm in with them.

I like your idea of not releasing it as a yearly basis but still having the game be compatible with all editions of 2K. By doing this you could really get accurate draft classes over to 2K no matter what year. Also think adding a MyPlayer mode that it never had in the past like there person before you suggested would really help sell the game, especially if they made it so you could play the college career however you like 1-4 years and be drafted into 2K and continue using the same player.

I could be wrong but I think the last year of NCAA football was pretty successful with ultimate team so including that mode as well would probably be another seller

I guarantee pro-am is going to be full of 99 overall players after about a month.

I personally credit MyPlayer for making 2K the juggernaut it is today. Basketball games and career modes are like PB&J.

I just thought about a CH2K8 MyPlayer and NBA 2K8 Draft Combine, and now I'm sad.

Hope you can assign defenders so I can strap up the best scorers on every team

the rec still isn't full of 99 overall players today. you over estimate how much some online players play mycareer... A lot get to a point were they're comfortable and just quit so they can play online. In my squad of people I am the only 99. Also, 99 doesn't mean anything, plenty of people play terrible regardless of rating, if anything 99 overall makes some people worse as they take worse looks, get lazy on defense, etc and expect their rating to help them out.

Another potential cool thing about this customization if it's available in MyLeague/MyGM is the ability to "rebrand" or add a new color to the teams scheme. Say after a few years I decide to rebrand the Denver Nuggets like they did when they got Melo. They went to that Carolina Blue (or whatever the official color is). All we would have to do is get a new design/uniform and upload it. Voila! That kind of stuff would be nice and keep MyLeague fresh.

I know some people including myself have the concern that it might be difficult to get 5 friends on a frequent basis to really enjoy the game mode, anyone else think the name ProAm gives some indication that it might be set up similar to the way Crew was in 2011 where if you didn't have 5 players you had NBA players as teammates?

Cant really see it being set up to where you pick an NBA team since thats nothing like the random assortment of players a ProAm game is. But how about something along the lines of you start out with various rookies as your non human teammates and as you play more and get better you gain "Rep" which would attract higher profile players to joining your team much like in real life where the Drew League gets much higher players than smaller local leagues. Everyone knows how much 2K loves incorporating their VC into modes so this would give them another way of having people spend money as well.

It would also be amazing if we could create new alternate jerseys.

I.E You need X amount of rep to unlock the right to buy Klay Thompson but even then you need to cough up 50,000 to get him. All First or Second team caliber players could be like 100-200 thousand VC.

If they do allow CPU team mates it will be something like that (so they can make money)

Good ideas by both of you guys. I don't like VC, but it's a VERY good move for 2K business wise. And I've always said if Crew was brought back, VC could be implemented very well. And that's a very good way to implement it. If it's not like that this year, I could see it happening in the future.

Only thing I don't like about it, is teams would have mostly all type of stars. Compared to if you could buy a roster to use. Also, how would the purchasing be? Would the owner of the team have to be the one shelling out all the VC? If so, hopefully during games, they get more VC than other users. It's so many things 2K can do with this mode.

Live: "Hey guys, after a couple years off, we're back!"

2K: "Lolz. That's cute. Yo, I heard you like modding, so we put modding into 2K, so you can mod courts and teams while you mod those logos and jerseys and mod them in your crew."

Live: "... **** my life."

I want to know if we can edit or create courts for the actual NBA teams in the game outside of MYleague and MYGM mode

# 238 Sundown @ 08/03/15 02:17 PM
Team Curry court. As a fan of what was the long suffering Warriors, this is still surreal.

Safe to say Crew is back and then some?
