NBA 2K16 News Post

2K has just announced 2K Pro-Am for NBA 2K16, which is a new mode for MyPLAYERS. Check out the new trailer here.

2K Pro-Am will feature instant matchmaking, with no waiting and games will start immediately. That means, no "Got Next" spots in 2K Pro-Am.

Quote:
Grab your friends, design your own logos, jerseys and arenas for full branding of your team. After your identity has been stamped, rise up the leaderboards with your team to compete against the best in the world in 5 on 5 matches on full-sized courts with NBA rules in a venue that supports 40 players playing simultaneously.

2K Pro-Am will feature daily, monthly and overall leaderboards with league leaders, power rankings and more. You can completely customize your team and create your own uniforms with the ability to change colors, number size, stripe configurations, collar types, mesh patterns, resizing text and logos (which can be imported) and so much more.

You can also completely customize your arena from the ground up by selecting from various jumbotrons, scorer's tables, baskets and sound effects. If you don't like a particular floor pattern, change it up (Herringbone, Honeycomb and more), along with colors of any line you can think of (out of bounds, key, center circle, half court, perimeter, etc.). Users can create customized text on the floors and sidelines, along with the ability to upload custom images.

NBA 2K16 2K Pro-Am Features:
  • Play with your MyPLAYER - Walk on or form a team with friends
  • NBA style basketball including timeouts and fouls
  • No waiting. Instant matchmaking against similarly ranked opponents
  • Fully customizable team designer, upload images or choose from customizable logos
Read the details, watch the trailer and let us know what you think!

Gameplay can always improve, but their gameplay is already great, its not as bad as people make it out to be

Essentially, you keep the same Rec but only allow 40 people but allow no people hovering and weighing down the session, match making allows a much more manageable instance.

It's simple math. Rec runs okay with less people in it as it stands right now.

Even if they rehash the same servers, this SHOULD run better than even park.
So are saying the Rec center could be separate lobby from the Proam? (just trying to make sure I understand you completely)

The gameplay doesn't need huge changes. The player responsiveness and accurate movement (to what I input on my controller) is what needs work IMHO. Last night, for instance, I barely feathered the left stick on defense to shade the ball handler, trying to force him one direction. Instead, the game made Wiggins turn his back to the ball handler, allowing the guy to drive right past. Gameplay, it plays a pretty good game. Movement in several areas is where I'm hoping to see things ironed out.

It's a good year to be a bball gamer.

I'm just wondering, why some were playing in the gym with four courts, and then you had the game in the arena , but I guess we'll find out in the coming days

There still is rec, but if you squad up you have the option to go instant matchmaking to spare you the trouble were you will play on those custom courts, probably voting to see what court your squad plays on.

Making a ProAm squad for PS4 .

PLEASE be fun and not so uptight but good at the game. And even better in crunch time. If you want to join

You must have a kik

Search #6godproam and join the group!

Not sure if this question has been answered but can you customize arenas for existing teams? For example, if I wanted to bring the blue paint back to MSG can I do that and use it in Association mode (or whatever it's called these days)?

Just really hope the servers will be vastly improved before I get overly hype

A real crew mode has finally returned. Seems like it might even be better than 2k11's version.

I think it'll add a lot of replay value to the game

Looks like I'm not gonna have much of a life now when 2K comes out

This is cool for a lot o people. I'm waiting to hear about regular gameplay. I have never did my player on any 2k I have owned. I did the 2k team once. I'm happy for everyone though and the sonics court was cool

Sure there's impossible to eliminate lag, but if you play any other sports game(PES,FIFA,MLS,even NBA Live), make a comparison, it's easily to find out 2K has a huge problem in online experience. Input delay and movement lag ruin all the online modes of NBA2K15.

I probably won't play a lot of this mode seeing as I don't have a lot of Psn friends but damn does this make me hopeful for team relocation in MyGm and myLeauge

So, were those 2k16 graphics or 2k15's graphics used for this trailer?

Think about most of those games you mentioned. You are zoomed out from the player to see the whole field. The lag is less evident/noticeable. Now look at a game like Madden, where you are close to the players. You can see noticeable input lag.

This....is what I was waiting for...I am so dang happy!

My BIGGEST question regarding this is: If I have 3 friends and my own created team, does the game fill out 2 players for the rest of the roster or do you HAVE to have 2 other users?

I'm hoping this is like Fifa's Pro Club mode where it fills out your roster with generic players. It would be even better if you could unlock NBA players to fill out your squad.

But it would bother me if I had to have to learn to play with/rely on two other players that are random each time if only two other friends are on..

Everyone knows that if it's not absolutely perfect gameplay, it's trash. Makes total sense...

To crazy people.

OK, lets talk about other games for a second:

Live which doesn't even have 10% of the 2K traffic will STILL on occasion have nasty latency and lag.

FIFA and PES both use a networking model that will lead to outcomes on the field that are different across systems as well as warp guys.

Because of FIFA, EA has to have a MASSIVE datacenter backbone. Something that 2K has only recently started to actually build up. After the big outage last year - when 2k started the rebuild of the server infrastructure - things got a LOT better and I see it continuing to grow.

I seriously don't think 2K was really ready for the success of this game. It's become part of the modern culture as much as Madden. That's saying something. But the price of that is that the company has to start thinking MUCH bigger than it has ever have and we will see if it can be done fast enough.

Well, that sort of thing happens when you become a monopoly due to EA's cancellation of the NBA Live series a few years back.

We have Plenty of gameplay stuff to talk about when the time comes.

As a dev when you see the work other people are putting in on their area's. You want to be certain your part lives up to that level of excitement. We feel very good about where we are at right now. Just don't get over hyped. It's still a game and all games no matter how dope always have areas they can improve upon.
