NBA 2K16 2K Pro-Am Features Matchmaking, Tons of Arena & Uniform Customization & More

2K has just announced 2K Pro-Am for NBA 2K16, which is a new mode for MyPLAYERS. Check out the new trailer here.

2K Pro-Am will feature instant matchmaking, with no waiting and games will start immediately. That means, no "Got Next" spots in 2K Pro-Am.

	Grab your friends, design your own logos, jerseys and arenas for full branding of your team. After your identity has been stamped, rise up the leaderboards with your team to compete against the best in the world in 5 on 5 matches on full-sized courts with NBA rules in a venue that supports 40 players playing simultaneously.

2K Pro-Am will feature daily, monthly and overall leaderboards with league leaders, power rankings and more. You can completely customize your team and create your own uniforms with the ability to change colors, number size, stripe configurations, collar types, mesh patterns, resizing text and logos (which can be imported) and so much more.

You can also completely customize your arena from the ground up by selecting from various jumbotrons, scorer's tables, baskets and sound effects. If you don't like a particular floor pattern, change it up (Herringbone, Honeycomb and more), along with colors of any line you can think of (out of bounds, key, center circle, half court, perimeter, etc.). Users can create customized text on the floors and sidelines, along with the ability to upload custom images.

Yo it's crazy we finally got what we want back for the most part.

Need to be able to have more than 5 guys on a team so if one's not on the whole team can't play...we can just throw in another. And also we need to be able to be on more than 1 team at a time. I can't do a bunch of work and editing on jerseys, courts, and logos just to lose it all if I'm on another team cuz my main dudes aren't on.

Definitely hope they did some more work on the ratings so everyone's not a 95 on day 1..that's a good way to ruin a mode they put so much work into. But if not then it's whatever it's still thousands of times better than last year.

Stuff is insane... I'm not even one of those dudes who was crying for Crew mode to comeback and they just went above and beyond with this stuff, I may even decide to touch the online space this year.

Hopefully the uploading images is pretty strict though, cause you know every 12-year old out there is gonna try and see if they can get away with uploading dicks or whatever.

I don't even like these modes because of the way people abuse things but THIS! I might have to dabble! The possibilities! I know this mode is meant to be more of an arcadey exhibition buuuuut...I'm praying that it at least resembles basketball. PLEASE make defense matter! The Park got to the point where it was just a bunch of idiots turboing around. If they make it to where stick skills and IQ make a difference this could be gold for me!

I wouldn't call it a monopoly. It's not about that. People don't realize that, by itself, this game more than doubled the size of the audience for video game basketball. Meaning, it's success went FAR beyond being the only option for a couple of years.

People really don't pay attention to this stuff. Even when it was Live, 2K and Sony's NBA series out there on the market the total sales numbers weren't hitting 5 million or they just barely got there. 2K is routinely doing 5 million+ on their own now and they're still doing it, even with Live re-entering the picture snagging some sales.

Exactly why I've always said the excuse for college basketball games' demise wasn't good enough, because you can grow that market if you put the time and effort in and properly market it.

It's not going to be sim based...it's an online mode. No online modes are sim, except for association and that depends on the league you are in.

Pretty easily actually, if they don't want it there. The Show has some nice uniform customization options with a logo editor (which appears on the field), but it's only applicable to Diamond Dynasty.

Is it possible for 2K to implement a 64 team NCAA style tournament for the Pro-Am to add extra incentive for players/teams to actually play serious sim basketball?

Let's say they let all teams play through a qualifying period (maybe a couple of months or so) and invite the top 64 teams with the best record/win pct. and have them play in a one and done type tournament during the month of march for the 2K Pro-Am championship trophy.

Treat the qualifying months as a regular season and issue individual awards at the end of that season, and issue a MOP award at the end of the tourney.

There won't be any middle ground on this once its released out into the wild. It'll either be the best experience ever or an unmitigated failure. I can't imagine them creating something this server-side labor intensive without having a solid base to make it consistently perform at the level of their competitors. Making large sections of your game dependent on back-end infrastructure that isn't up to the task is a mistake you only make once, if you make it all.

I would honestly be shocked if they can't now deliver the online consistency that other titles have been delivering for a few years now.

Honestly, though, I am not sure that the market is there for college ball as much as I love it. I love what 2K is doing however. NBA 2K is a smash hit, and now (hopefully) there will be a college aspect to it. College ball could get the exposure in the videogame space that it has never had before. Hopefully that peaks enough "casuals" interest to the point that 2K sees it as an endeavor to get into. If anyone can do it, 2K can.
