MLB 15 The Show News Post

MLB 15 The Show patch 1.03 is available now for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, which fixes quite a few offline and online issues with the game. Check out the details below and let us know what you are seeing.
  • Offline/Online - Fixed the issue causing runners to be left on base after a home run. This would happen any time a user runner went half way and was stopped when the ball went over the fence and was a called a HR
  • Offline/Online - CPU or User would attempt to advance after a high infield fly ball was caught. Defender would use a casual throw to the next base, but it would be too slow and the runner would often be safe
  • Intentional walk exploit fixed – Calling for an intentional walk after the baserunner leads off causes the baserunner to take additional steps and getting thrown out easily.
  • Online - New Action shots for 50 players, to be seen on Player cards in Collections and Diamond Dynasty mode.
  • Online - Collections screen now save and load the last page you were on, making buying and selling cards more streamlined.
  • Online - Tuning to Online Gameplay - These fixes are all intended to stabilize online gameplay and eliminate consumer reported blue screen crashes and hangs that lead to standoffs.
  • Offline/Online - Foul/Fair ball detection in CHI White Sox - 3rd base line
  • Online - HBP/avoid and pitcher ejection issue - One user would get a HBP reaction and ejected, the other user would not resulting in a freeze.
  • Online – When defensive shifts would occur in an online game, the OSD’s were inaccurate. Fix for Defensive Positioning drop down to reflect the current defense.
  • Online/Offline - Reduce the success rate of bunts
  • Offline - Fixed retail crash while simulating through Franchise mode. Occurrences described below:
    • Crashes when simulation far in the future
    • Crash when autosaving following very specific injury sequences
    • Crash when simming through certain pinch hit appearances
    • Crash when entering the amateur draft
  • Offline - Fixed a low frequency retail crash in RTTS player editor.
  • Offline - Fenway red seat added in the right field bleachers.
  • Online - Restricting batting views for online games per Design - if user has batting view that is restricted, force batting view to catcher - don't give user restricted views for batting view
  • Online - issues with take it yourself plays at first base online have been resolved.
  • Online – Numerous online gameplay stability checks to eliminate consumer reported blue screen crashes.
  • Online - Resolving guess pitch on defensive machine and forcing offense machine to use data from defense machine
  • Offline – Changed the art of the Injured icon (Franchise/Season)
  • Online - Adding additional entitlements to the show shop, to allow for future promotional packs
  • Online/Offline – AI check that was not allowing for early moving catches
  • Offline - Fix for crowd catching flyball vs. fielder catching robbable balls - don't allow ball to attach to crowd if already attached to a player
  • Online Franchise/Diamond Dynasty – Play by Play audio code has been modified to exclude filling in career stats for Arena mode (DD) and League Mode. They get filled in for MLB season mode only. Online modes career data was incorrect.
  • Online - Adding one more minute to the online Pause menu countdown

A fly ball that is hit into the box seat area on either side can warp back into a CPU fielder's glove if he reaches the wall and starts running in place before the ball comes down. The key is how long the ball is hit in the air and how deep into the seats it goes - it does not happen on every foul ball.

Further, if you're playing a normal game you can cancel out the bug by pausing/switching to the CPU team before its player reaches the wall. If you pull him away from the wall manually the ball will stay out of play. Once a catch animation starts it's too late, so you have to identify one of these foul balls pretty quickly.

There's no way to do this in RTTS, of course.
Thats great to know now I can maybe finally platinum the game as Im missing the hey kid foul ball trophy ! as I havent had one chance not one to get it in hundreds of game not once ?

Don't count on it working like that....it's pretty clear from the audio lines that play during one of these that it doesn't recognize the ball going into the seats.

I think that trophy has to be triggered by the reach-over catch animation.

I'd love to see if they would ever share the formula for stamina loss and stamina gain on rest.
I honestly don't think all the fatigue is factored into each other as well as it should be. There is fatigue to limit abuse but it needs to be communicated to the user, including this scenario, pinch hitting, substitutions, innings played?

I would hope they have a formula for this but I don't think it would include pitch effort, unless it is just a subset of total energy impact.

Man I love this game. I was very hesitant about buying it this year because baseball usually loses its appeal to me around late May to early June. Not this year. I have played 28 games of franchise without quick counts and I cat put it down. Even with the Witcher 3 coming out, I would rather play the show! Really enjoying my franchise and having a blast playing.

I just got a baserunning glitch. First time seeing it too.

Had a runner on first base, batter hits a base hit, runner goes to second.

Then when the next batter comes up both runners are on first base overlapping each other.

The base hit still counted but there are two runners on first.

Has anyone seen this? Why haven't they fixed this?

I personally haven't seen this. And they may not be aware of the issue which is why it hasn't been fixed. Be sure to go to their forums and create a bug report.

Disappointed to say that I'm still seeing bunt attempts that go foul with two strikes, are still not resulting in outs.

I had the CPU try to get down a sacrifice last night and it worked just as it should. First two foul bunts were strikes, the third was an out.

Does anyone else think that the cpu's double play rate is far too high? It doesn't seem to matter the count, the pitch location, pitch type, or circumstance. If you have base runners, it's gonna happen, A LOT. I also think the cpu defense is far too good. If I'm going to hit into a ton of outs then I want to hit into a ton of realistic outs. The ability of the cpu defense to make those iffy, questionable, diving or chasing the ball down in the gap plays is astounding. 95/100 they get the out. Even after sliders outfielders cover the field way too fast. Unless it's a line drive or deep fly ball, it's not touching the ground. This is just what I've experienced, I know it sounds like complaining but I'm really just curious to hear some of your experiences so I can help myself make this game even more fun.

All done with Mlb 15 for now. Suicide squeeze has not been fixed, bunting with two stikes over and over not fixed. Cpu will never throw over to first ._._ camera cuts always show baserunner stolen base stats as 0 stolen bases and 5 caught stealing ._? Game looks great but these things are too much for me. I don't feel they will patch this if they have not already . Great upgrade with grahics._but back to 14 for me.

Dont know what game your playing but I havent had any of these problems playing on Allstar Default ? I mean if I even try to lead off the cpu pitcher throws over , they really nailed pickoffs logic perfect this year

Also havent seen this suicide squeeze stuff you mention either ?

I haven't had any of these issues either since the last patch has been out. Now I havnt played all that many game as Ive been waiting on pitch edits to get done, but the handful of games I have played I haven't had any issues at all with anything. Personally I believe this is the best game to date by MLBTS devs, and that's saying a lot since they put out quality games every year.

New patches come out after the development team completes them and they pass certification from Sony. There is no set date that they release (every Tuesday etc..)

With that being said, there has been no mention of any new patches that I've seen. Update 1,03 is the latest patch to be released.

I had this happen the other day. Very frustrating.

Some things that need tuning for next year.

Foul ball pop outs to the catcher are excessive and really a downer. I see way too many each and every game. Just my thoughts as previous versions it was not this excessive.

Broken Bat's are way too excessive.

I have just started to keep tabs on the pop outs to catchers. I have played now...over 250 games.

Yes it is a sickness and I am ACTIVELY seeking counseling and a support group.

So it is becoming quite apparent to me it is a problem. At least in my eyes and my playing experience.

There are some warts (like every year when you play enough games) but overall the very best game in the series history. Took many steps forward. And in area's that have opened up new modes to me.

Online Franchise/Diamond Dynasty. And the main reasons are attributed to 2 things:

1) of course the connection and servers are greatly improved (still needs lot's of work to catch up to EA's online experience with Madden but a great leap this year).

2) Manual fielding. I am truly having a blast playing defense for the first time ever in this series history. It was the one area that sorely lacked for me coming over from MVP 2005. They really improved outfield play, and understanding that you need to be able to track balls properly, play balls off the wall properly. Ratings really matter in this aspect of the game. Ball parks too. For example...I hate playing at Fenway as the wall is a mother ****er to deal with now! LOL. Just like IRL.

They really nailed this area of the game and I can see even more progress going forward. So since fielding is much more intuitive, I ventured to online play and have not looked back. I still play plenty offline (where the game is platinum) but playing online franchise with Simulation Owners here at OS and building my Diamond Dynasty team has made this game virtual drugs for me. I will probably log over 500 games by the time MLB 16 comes out.

That is what the Devs want to hear.

Well done SCEA....well done.
