MLB 15 The Show News Post

MLB 15 The Show patch 1.03 is available now for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, which fixes quite a few offline and online issues with the game. Check out the details below and let us know what you are seeing.
  • Offline/Online - Fixed the issue causing runners to be left on base after a home run. This would happen any time a user runner went half way and was stopped when the ball went over the fence and was a called a HR
  • Offline/Online - CPU or User would attempt to advance after a high infield fly ball was caught. Defender would use a casual throw to the next base, but it would be too slow and the runner would often be safe
  • Intentional walk exploit fixed – Calling for an intentional walk after the baserunner leads off causes the baserunner to take additional steps and getting thrown out easily.
  • Online - New Action shots for 50 players, to be seen on Player cards in Collections and Diamond Dynasty mode.
  • Online - Collections screen now save and load the last page you were on, making buying and selling cards more streamlined.
  • Online - Tuning to Online Gameplay - These fixes are all intended to stabilize online gameplay and eliminate consumer reported blue screen crashes and hangs that lead to standoffs.
  • Offline/Online - Foul/Fair ball detection in CHI White Sox - 3rd base line
  • Online - HBP/avoid and pitcher ejection issue - One user would get a HBP reaction and ejected, the other user would not resulting in a freeze.
  • Online – When defensive shifts would occur in an online game, the OSD’s were inaccurate. Fix for Defensive Positioning drop down to reflect the current defense.
  • Online/Offline - Reduce the success rate of bunts
  • Offline - Fixed retail crash while simulating through Franchise mode. Occurrences described below:
    • Crashes when simulation far in the future
    • Crash when autosaving following very specific injury sequences
    • Crash when simming through certain pinch hit appearances
    • Crash when entering the amateur draft
  • Offline - Fixed a low frequency retail crash in RTTS player editor.
  • Offline - Fenway red seat added in the right field bleachers.
  • Online - Restricting batting views for online games per Design - if user has batting view that is restricted, force batting view to catcher - don't give user restricted views for batting view
  • Online - issues with take it yourself plays at first base online have been resolved.
  • Online – Numerous online gameplay stability checks to eliminate consumer reported blue screen crashes.
  • Online - Resolving guess pitch on defensive machine and forcing offense machine to use data from defense machine
  • Offline – Changed the art of the Injured icon (Franchise/Season)
  • Online - Adding additional entitlements to the show shop, to allow for future promotional packs
  • Online/Offline – AI check that was not allowing for early moving catches
  • Offline - Fix for crowd catching flyball vs. fielder catching robbable balls - don't allow ball to attach to crowd if already attached to a player
  • Online Franchise/Diamond Dynasty – Play by Play audio code has been modified to exclude filling in career stats for Arena mode (DD) and League Mode. They get filled in for MLB season mode only. Online modes career data was incorrect.
  • Online - Adding one more minute to the online Pause menu countdown

Nothing about Diamond Dynasty Extra Innings games finally working properly?

They way they are tuned causes a significant disparity between pitcher's abilities versus offensive players down the line. The result is a dramatic drop in offensive production baseball-wide, and crazy good numbers for pitchers..

C
All I can say is I just played a game and had 3 separate instances where there was a runner at 3rd with nobody out and the CPU DID NOT SQUEEZE

In addition to that, there's a weird progression bug where slow first baseman and catchers develop 99 basestealing ratings.

Miguel Cabrera was like 3rd in the AL in steals in my RTTS last season lol. And that would be bad enough even by itself, but then you factor in that it was 2020 so not only is Miggy suddenly turning into a legit basestealing threat, but it's at age 37.

Yeah, this is an important add on to what I was saying. I actually had this happen to me with David Ortiz in one of my franchise modes. He ended up with the 99 bug and had like 50 steals.

This issue was fixed in patch 1.03

We never gave any indication this was being tuned. In addition it's not part of the code base we are comfortable messing with in a patch setting.

Will it undo all the wonky progression it already caused, or am I stuck with Panda Sandoval, Miguel Cabrera, Dioner Navarro, Francisco Cervelli, and Chris Davis stealing 30-40 bases a year until my player retires?

EDIT: I already know the answer is that I'm stuck with it, but this is a good example of why a lot of us wish we could edit players in RTTS mode. Just to police and correct things like this. Sure some people will abuse it, but it's a single player game mode, the leaderboards are already pointless, so what's the harm?

I did NOT see anything in the Patch Information regarding missed tags on baserunners, which should be automatic outs by several feet or seconds !!!

Just saw a completely missed bunt on a pitcher sacrifice attempt, with the pitch being a corner strike. Never saw that pre-1.03.

Please don't reduce it any more, bunts are still going to be successful if the pitches are strikes, but the corners will generate a lot more fouls and misses. At this point I'd say people need to change their strategy a little if they still see too many successful bunts. I'm afraid it will be taken out of the game almost completely if the success rate is lowered any more.

Never had a problem before the patch. I never had a squeeze play and I got bunters out frequently on low sinkers or popping up on high heat. The few successful bunts felt well earned. This is all just my experience and my opinion of course. Personally I feel a lot of issues could be corrected with gameplay, at least offline. I have never and probably will never play online with this game.

Please put this at the top of this list for '16 franchise mode.

Thanks!

I am a bit disappointed that the CPU base runner not taking an extra step was not addressed. It mentioned it in patch notes from the previous one but for some reason it still didn't work. I was hoping that it would of been fixed with this patch.

Are you playing online? I play 95% of my games offline, and I've never seen this happen. Not while I was fielding, and I've never had a chance to go 2 bases while batting.

So the starter stamina issue in the Playoffs in franchise mode wasn't fixed?

Gonna have to disagree. If you play the playoffs game you can go 7+ days without the pitcher getting their stamina back. October 10th, Game 1 of the ALDS i used Yordano Ventura. His stamina wasnt all the way full by October 18th when i used him for Game 1 of the ALCS. If its not a bug and thats how its intended to be then it should be changed for sure.

Concerning the scoring from second on a sac fly...

Note, the throws were pre loaded, no slider adjustments.
