NBA 2K15 News Post

We recently had a chance to interview Rob Jones, Sr. Producer Visual Concepts and Erick Boenisch, Sr. Producer, Visual Concepts to talk about a new mode for NBA 2K15 called MyLEAGUE, exclusive for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Before we get into the interview, here is a quick rundown on some of the options. In a nutshell, it’s the Association Mode that we all know and loved on old-gen consoles, on steroids.

MyLEAGUE offers both a single season or up to an 80 year franchise experience. You will have complete control over every aspect of how your league plays out.

Online leagues are horrible. You can't even play CPU teams. Who thought this was a great idea and who thought it was a great idea to continue to not address this?

Yaasssss! Now here's hoping for an offline version of my career w/ sliders. I tire of scoring 40+ points a game (regardless of difficulty) after you hit an 80+ rating. I want to be able to make it impossible for my player to score that much save really good games w/ smart play and poor d from the opponent (which only sliders can prevent). Worse come to worse, I'll create a player and player lock in association. But as I play association mode just as much as my career, this news on assoc changes has secured my pre-order.

2k, take my money please!

I'm curious if someone from the dev team or someone here on the forums who knows can tell me if double double, triple doubles etc, are kept track of now in myleague and mygm this year? I hope it's kept track of.

That's a good idea. I hope all stats that the NBA uses today are in NBA 2k15. I would also like to know more information on setting Draft Orders. Like on last gen you literally had to trade picks to make them resemble real life Draft Orders. Now I'm hoping you are able to just set Draft Orders for teams. For example: Boston has at least 5-8 picks next year. Can I just set that in-game association. One last thing, with this Robust Create a Player I would like to see more body edits added. Fat, Muscle Mass, Hand Size (can determine grip on ball and maybe catch ability), Leg Length and/or Size and Chest Size (can determine how much a player can take a charge). Example: if Nate Robinson takes a charge from Dwight Howard, you should see him get run over in many diff ways opposed to Blake Griffin taking a charge from Zach Randolph. Wouldn't get moved back much.

Yes, more stats would be nice. They have a good amount in the game already but I'd love to see some more team stats. Loire advanced stats like John Hollinger's creative thinking. I know they've had PER, PPR, EFG, TS in before. Offensive and defensive team efficiency are the best ways to gauge how well an offense or defense is playing so I'd love to see that added.

You can this year per Rob Jones(podcast).

Does anyone know if players become staff other than coaches after they retire? If they don't, I'd like that in MyLEAGUE.

An unfair advantage to be honest.
davez(works for 2k) mentioned in the MyGM thread that real picks are in minus some that have protected rights

That's why I said "if they don't" because I haven't seen any from my experience. I'd like to hire former players as scouts and trainers but I never saw the option to. Other people likely have, so that's why I asked.

Players only become Assistant Coaches and from there can be promoted to Head Coaches. That's an interesting thought though, do you have any real-life examples of players becoming staff members in other positions? Can't think of one off the top of my head.

Leftos, do you think that it might be possible for us to have a say on who becomes available as an assistant or FA assistant ? ... maybe by making interactive the retired players screen at the end of the season ... something like we just check/mark there and enables their staff availability ... it goes hand in hand with the level of control my league seems to aim ... also a create a staff would be a welcomed addition.

And maybe something within this:

Wasn't Darrell Armstrong a player development coach for Dallas the year they won?

Leftos, if this is not in my league you should consider it. Nba 2k last gen had in association mode where a user could schedule a practice on the whole team. For my league and association mode last gen it would be nice to not only schedule a practice for the whole team, but for a individual player too.

Jared Jeffries became a scout for the Nuggets. That's one I can think of off the top of head. I'm pretty sure there's much more. I think it would be cool for lower rated players (Perhaps based on Potential even..) became positions other than coaches. Not saying they can't be coaches altogether, but just a thought I had.

Edit: If it counts, Allan Houston is assistant GM of the Knicks, while Juwan Howard works on player development with the Heat. There's more than that, I'm sure.

So far this game is everything I needed it to be for me to buy it day 1... I really didn't expect them to go all out like this..

Now Im just waiting for this "robust" create a player!

One thing that I know is too late now but would love for 2K15 is the ability to edit staff and give or take away badges. I know guys sometime got badges but it was extremely infrequent. Like others have mentioned a lot of guys end up becoming scouts/GMs and the like.

Wow, I was going to make NHL 15 my first PS4 purchase before buying MLB 15 the Show this spring. But, with the lack of modes and communication by EA for NHL 15 and the fact that this game looks incredibly in depth, I might just have to make NBA 2K15 my "fall/winter" game this year. Excellent work 2K and thank you for your willingness to communicate with the community. The NBA 2K and MLB the Show dev crews do it right!

Juwan Howard. He retired and became a Player Development coach, IIRC.

Anthony Parker is/was a scout for the Orlando Magic. Actually a lot of former players are advanced scouts for teams.
