NBA 2K15 News Post

We recently had a chance to interview Rob Jones, Sr. Producer Visual Concepts and Erick Boenisch, Sr. Producer, Visual Concepts to talk about a new mode for NBA 2K15 called MyLEAGUE, exclusive for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Before we get into the interview, here is a quick rundown on some of the options. In a nutshell, it’s the Association Mode that we all know and loved on old-gen consoles, on steroids.

MyLEAGUE offers both a single season or up to an 80 year franchise experience. You will have complete control over every aspect of how your league plays out.

I was thinking the same thing lol. Hopefully 2K has a nice database for tracking records and awards.

Such as a leaner frame like Durant, something a bit thicker like say Paul Pierce or even Blake Griffin, and something more muscular like Lebron (pre-Paleo diet). This coupled with the existing option of ripped or smoother skin definition would allow for quite a bit of variety.

And please create a tattoo system that reflects options more akin to what we see today in the NBA. If it's too complicated to have tattoos layer over one another, than create larger scale tattoos that in of themselves are layered such as full sleeve tattoos. Even upper chest tattoos would be appreciated, as these would show around the neckline.

And can we PLEASE finally be allowed to select our team uniforms in MyCareer? As 2k has said themselves, MyCareer is the most popular game mode and for some, the only mode they even touch. Again, if this is truly the year of the fans, this is something that has been asked for ever since the mode's inception.

P.S. And my ultimate wish...incorporate FIBA into MyCareer and MyLeague. Would be great through the course of careers to be able to represent TEAM USA once your players has earned that right. And that would go along way towards players continuing to play out multiple seasons. Seeing how it stands currently, by the end of the first season, many have already captured ROY, MVP, All-star selection, Championship, and Finals MVP. After that, it doesn't leave much left to shoot for.

I agree with everything you said. IF the create a player suite is good enough to create player faces on par with the default NBA players, I'm cool. But I have my doubts because there were some terrific created players for last gen, but because of limitations in create a player, they never looked like they belonged in the same world as the regular player. I would prefer hundreds more of the premade faces, of different ethnic backgrounds, where we could change the hair, beards, tattoos, etc. to select from over "low grade" looking players.

I'll leave that there lol

EDIT: Would also be nice to finally see team colors expanded so that we can finally get those correct.
co sign this whole post especially the bolded part. It is UNACCEPTABLE that this feature isnt implemented yet. I mean even EA RISING STAR mode allows the player to use alt jerseys..

In addition, we also added a new option in the setup menu of MyLEAGUE that allows you to decide whether or not you want to start the mode with the injuries assigned in the roster. Default behavior is to wipe all injuries such that everyone starts healthy.

There is one thing we have been discussing internally and have been split on; would love some opinions from the community. As I mentioned in the original interview, one feature in the Injuries 2.0 system is that players will wear appropriate accessories when recovering from an injury (e.g. sprained knee). If you manually assign an injury to a player, would you expect that player to then be automatically equipped with an appropriate accessory, or would that be a little too heavy-handed and taking control away from you?

Feedback welcomed. Hope everyone enjoys the addition!
This has me so hyped for NBA 2K15!!!! I can have a MYLeague without PG13 and see how the Pacers coupe with that and plan for the here and now and the future. I love it guys. Keep it coming. Bringing back power to the gamer

One thing that disappointed me about my Gm is I never saw cpu trades during the draft after the patch. Is trading back in for cpu teams during the draft?

Also I would love to see sign and trades.

The fact we can edit injuries brought a tear to my eye. So much customization.

The question now becomes, can we start a MyCareer with pre-existing injuries as well?

I hated the fact that all injuries were wiped clean when starting the mode, resulting in Kobe Bryant and Nerlens Noel playing the whole year--Noel's presence in the Rookie Showcase was even lampshaded by Steve Kerr, basically going "Huh. I guess his recovery's further along than we expected."

Don't get me wrong, I hope Nerlens Noel has a great real-life career, but still, seeing torn-ACL guys like Joel Embiid on the court BEFORE the draft is a blow to realism, and one that's now even easier to fix.

That said, thank you guys so much for putting this in for us. Please don't take this as looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Are we going to be able to assign injuries to rookies in a created draft class? Something similar to Joel Embiid or Nerlens Noel?

Not sure if MyLeague will be the right mode to query this....but here goes...

Does anyone know if there will be a way in this mode (or any other for that matter) where you can mimic the real NBA season in terms of rosters, injuries, signs, trades etc.?

And I mean without doing it manually - like if (hypothetical here) Josh Smith got traded on the 17th of November, that happens in your season (without you having to manually go an do it)?

Similar to the concept of Live Season (in the "other game")....

I am guessing the best way of doing this in your season would be to import a roster mid season (with it not messing with your stats accumulated thus far) - does anyone know if that is possible in this mode??

EDIT: Basically NBA Today but in a recorded season with stats, scheduling, playoffs etc.

Thanks in advance everyone....

I've been wanting this since its debut with NBA live 10. It's my dream that has never been done in 2k series.

Seems fairly basic aswell - basically NBA Today in the form of a recorded season....

Simply put, the days happenings (by date) gets "archived" in the "cloud" if you will.....and when say the 10th of December arrives on your schedule - it synchronizes and then lets you keep going - it doing this on a daily basis..... your stats staying un-affected of course.

Nothing would please me more than facing a team and the rosters are the same as the real life match up that took place on that day in the real NBA season.....

Is it going to be possible to have the Euroleague players in FA so they can be brought over to the NBA whenever I want or will they not be able to be released from their teams?

I'm a little late to the party, but my pre-order is done! This is the first version of 2K that i have purchased in over 5 years that was not credited to the addition of the rookie class!

What I want to hear is Game-Facing like EA... Hopefully Live 15 will have Game-Facing. It seems kinda pointless that they only sold the Xbox One with the Kinect but yet no Game-Facing???

The question here is, you go to Edit Player, you assign an injury to a player and set its duration. Would you expect Edit Player to pick an accessory for you and assign it to the player, or would you rather only have it happen in the natural flow but not in Edit Player, unless you go in and explicitly assign the accessory yourselves while in the menu?

And yes, of course you'll still able to assign accessories before or after editing the injury so you can set the one you want. Our divide lies on whether Edit Player putting an accessory on the player automatically because you assigned an injury would seem jarring.

If you want Edit Player to do that, should it replace any existing accessory if it's not in our list of accessories that help that particular injury?
Out of curiosity, about how often would an injured player return wearing a new accessory? Will some injuries yield automatic accessories (say, every blown ACL leads to a knee brace)? Or will it be a matter of probability (45% of ACL tears will lead to knee braces)? Further, how long would a recovering player wear a given accessory before returning to their previous accessories (or lack thereof)? Will some players keep the accessory forever?

I'm thirsty for in-depth storylines for players/teams.
I want hype trains, write-ups, and media, for every player that's playing remotely well - and i want the talk tied into his career. For example, if Jr Smith is merely, contributing, to a contending team - i want a write-up/story on this anomaly. I WANT TO CARE ABOUT THE WHOLE LEAGUE.
I want to be able to immerse myself in each team's storylines like i do in real life.
Satisfy my interest in each player in the league! and each team in the league! Stats, 5 headline stories, award chases, thats not enough!!!! I want a few write-ups per week on each team - this is how i indulge in the NBA in real life..
HOW ABOUT YOU HAVE YOUR OWN ESPN network in the game, 2k..!? Let me scroll through each team, and read weekly stories. Make it a really cool/big deal to be a headline story - attach tweets to the headline stories (the best part about headline stories is the talk about them. the reaction. let me see the people's reaction.)

I understand that it would be a lot of work to have pre-written write-ups/storylines for even about 50% of the players in the league. Maybe it's not possible for other teams, but, at least let me immerse myslef in the news about my team. Let me pick a storyline for my team. for example
-- the Lakers, we suck. (if we end up "competing" , i want the biggest weekly hype train about how we're doing this). on the other hand, if we continue to suck or be mediocre, dont let me hear the end of it, like it is in real life
-- a squad of misfit players/redeem team. - if this team ends up "competing" , i dont want to hear the end of how much of an anomaly this is, and how specific players are finally stars or living up to their potential etc.
-- a squad of young players. " the new stars of the league have arrived" "look at Jabari Parker. he's the best thing since Lebron." "is the Greek Freak Jabari's Pippen?"
-and i want this stuff weekly. a few writeups a week about my team.

i want to get lost in storylines and media! i want to read about my players and my team.

In free agency, will we see teams clear cap space? I didn't see it too much in 2K14 like 2K said. For example, how Cleveland traded with Boston and Brooklyn this past summer.

# 759 cthurt @ 08/21/14 09:14 AM
I havent been to a mid night release for a game in years but for this game I will be first in line at gamestop. These on the fly additions being added are amazing. The ability to control injuries put it over the top for me, excellent job 2k.

# 760 BluFu @ 08/21/14 12:04 PM
question for devs on injuries: will the cpu reset their rotations/minutes for every injury? in past games, it was hard having guys average 36-40 min because of the injuries.
