MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

The game fully installs with the disc. The disc is just an authentication key.

Not necessarily

All you got was a ticket for a refund.. Be careful if you don't want two copies as you will lose money regardless.

I think we're safe in this situation due to the considerable amount of backlash and customer complaints.

But yeah, I won't feel totally secure until I see my Amex credited next week.

For the rest of you, if you truly want to play any time soon I suggest giving Sony a call and requesting a refund. I've never not received mine when told I would get it. Just got my copy from Best Buy!

By the way, just as a side note.. Sony is extremely kind about people wanting their money back with this. I would be willing to bet you won't get one bit of grief by calling in. So many people have already done it that it isn't even in question.
I guess he could have made his point better. The thing is when you call in and request a refund they open a case for you which goes to someone else or some other department who then decides the fate of your case. You are then notified a week later via email whether your refund was granted or not. Not everyone will get the ok for the refund. This has happened in the past. Some people will be stuck with a digital and physical copy. But since a card was used anyway people can always do a charge back through their bank or cc company.

i've been reading this thread since yesterday and let me say this.. It's the fact that Sony has it posted every where online that "Digital Day 1 Games will be available to download anytime after 12:01AM" apparently no digital download yet has been released at that time according to people

This is not helping Sony push to turn everyone over to digital copies. If i still have to wait till noon to play a game i would rather wait for UPS to deliver it or drive to my local gamestop.

Speaking of gamestop... the manager even told me to not buy the digital copy and get a physical copy. The one time i didn't listen to Gamestop i get screwed -_-

I'm wondering what the number is on the amount of pre orders they had. Could have been just a simple crash, which could have caused a domino effect.

Somebody on the PSN IT team gonna take the fall for this one unfortunately....

I don't care that we can't download it yet because I will not have enough time to play it until the weekend anyway. As long as I have it by the weekend I am good.

I do feel bad for the people that took the day off as I know personnel time is very limited and to have a day wasted has to be devastating. I get ten days a year and use them all at Christmas so I could not take today off but if I did and wasted it with only ten for the whole year it would be awful for me.

I hope this is resolved quickly.

I don't disagree. I think everyone is anxious and excited to play the game. I understand their anger. No excuse for Sony here. The reality is that we will survive. There is plenty of other more important thing to get upset at in the world than a video game.

I guess. I've never had that happen to me. I have ALWAYS received my refund when told I would get it. And I'm sorry, but this situation is no regular incident. I guarantee most, if not all, people will get their refund.

You convinced me. I'm calling Sony now. Wish me luck!

Can we stop with the "when I was younger I would be upset about this but look how mature I am now, blah blah blah" posts?

I just waited nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes on the phone for a supervisor, only to be told that they were having technical difficulties in transferring me, but the supervisor would issue the refund.......then the phone went dead.

I have never seen such F'n amateurs in my entire life.

Called back, waited for another 20 minutes or so, someone picks up, disconnected again. I'm now on the phone for the 3rd time and nearly 2 and half hours later trying to get a refund issued.

I purchased the physical copy from gamestop, took all of 5 minutes to get there, and about 30 seconds to complete my purchase. If Sony doesn't refund my $59.99 and I just spent $126 for this game, then I will sell both my PS3 and PS4 along with all my games and Sony will never see another dime of my $$.

This went from a clusterfck of a rollout to really pissing off their customers for no reason whatsoever. They screwed up, issue us a refund, it's as simple as that.

Instead of complaining about sony costing you 126 bucks. Blame yourself for buying a game twice.

What I don't understand is why you guys insist on buying a physical copy when you can rent it for $5-10 to tide you over until the download works. That's my plan, anyway.

No, I'm going to continue being pissed at Sony. I was told an issue would be refunded before I purchased the game at gamestop. However the support rep I spoke with failed to update my account stating this.

Do you work for sony or something. You sure do seem very apologetic for them. You must be one of the mouthbreathing sony reps

Let people vent if they want to vent. It doesn't cost you a thing and you can always move on to another thread.

In this situation people have every right to complain. When you spend money for a product you expect it to be as good as advertised, or released when advertised. 12 hours later on a digital release is unacceptable.
