MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

I feel like this needs to be posted. From cracked:

Quote:

"It Could Be Worse"

This is arguably the most depressing platitude of all, because you use it only after you get **** on. You wake up one day and your best friend sleeps with your spouse, your dog dies, you lose your job, and you get diagnosed with Puckett's Erratic Dysentery. What an awful day. But hey, it could be worse -- your house could have fallen into a sinkhole, and you could have found out that your mom and dad are brother and sister and that's why you suck at math.

You don't deserve to be **** on by yourself after life ****s on you, so never tell yourself that things could be worse. That doesn't mean you need to wallow in self-pity like some kind of mega-baby; it means you need to deal with and come to terms with what is wrong with you and move on. To say "things could be worse" is an awful way to minimize what's happening to you. It's like calling yourself a whiner. Yeah, I'm on fire, but hey, I'm not being fisted by an ape. That may be true, but being on fire sucks, and you need to be OK with admitting that. It doesn't make you weak or sad in any way. You have as much right to be unhappy about unpleasant circumstances as anyone; you don't need to suffer more than anyone has ever suffered before it's OK to acknowledge it.

This platitude almost amounts to blaming the victim, in this case yourself, for whatever is wrong with you, and it puts you in a position to refute your own feelings. Why would anyone ever want to do that? Because we're conditioned to in a society that wants everyone to shut up and be happy. Ever heard a parent tell a child to eat all their food because there are starving kids in Africa? If you cared, you'd box up my leftover broccoli and send it to the Ivory Coast, not make me choke it down. How does my nausea help a starving boy, anyway? It doesn't, but the sentiment is only to make you feel bad about the way you feel.

As it happens, most platitudes serve this purpose -- to make you basically bend over like a bitch and be happy about it. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, this too shall pass, tomorrow is another day ... they all mean that, yes, you're currently being rode like a majestic stallion across the frontier, but why are you complaining? Just shut up, my show's on. If I had to guess, they were all legitimately thought up by someone who wanted to be polite and supportive but also just got sick of listening to their friends complain.

I absolutely will sell every sony product and game I own. I decide what companies and corporations to support with my wallet. This is by far the worst customer service experience I've ever been a part of. Sony knows they screwed up, now they are just exacerbating the situation by not making it right with their customers. I'm not some entitled little tw at demanding that they compensate me for my troubles. I simply, and politely requested a refund for a good that I purchased and they have failed to provide.

And you have absolutely no business whatsoever saying that you hope I don't have kids. Maybe I do and I teach them to value their $$ and to also support companies that actually care about their customers instead of ones that make situations worse for no reason whatsoever.

Some of you judgmental shlt for brains need to take a step back and realize that we have every right to be upset, frustrated and disappointed.

I get it though, every forum has their trolls who make situations worse.....just like Sony

By the way anyone on the fence, I got an immediate email from PS confirming a "one time goodwill" refund of $59.99. I've never requested a refund before so if your situation is similar, take that fwiw.

I'm guessing we'll be getting some of that free currency that is in the game once this is rectified.

Major way to drop the ball Sony.

If anyone is looking for extra dough for The Show then don't be hesitant to bring some used games to GameStop this week. My budget simply doesn't allow for me to spend money on a game this month (and there's so many good ones coming out...). But I wondered over to my local GameStop, saw they had a 50 percent trade-in bonus going on, and I returned Madden 25 (PS4) there and got $40. That and another oddball game left me paying ~$3 in taxes and I got The Show.

I usually hate dealing with GameStop when I can sell a game on Facebook for twice their offerings, but with tis 50 percent gimmick going on it's worth it since it's an instant transaction!

What an absolutely rude and absurd comment to make.

Nice! I'm calling again. Would you mind pasting the content of your email so I can reference it during my call? I want that "one time good will" deal

How old are you though? Have you ever been late for anything? If you don't want to be judged, stop making it so easy. If you exercise a little patience, they will fix the issue. That's what adults do. Seriously bro.

Maybe the planned to have it out by midnigh, but something came up last minute. **** happens. Don't let your day be ruined by a video game. It's not going to kill you to wait till tonight or sometime tomorrow to play the show. Anyway, i learned my lesson and i won't buy another digital copy.

You certainly are in your right to do so. Its a little bit drastic but I guess Sony didn't do themselves any favor. The least they could have done was an immediate refund, no question ask. I don't know how your financial situation is, so maybe that money is a big deal to you. Patience always rewards those who wait.

It a shame that you will take this route as I can tell by your reaction that you are probably a huge baseball fan and the only game in town is on the PS4. Its not like you have a choice.

Sony should give everyone that pre ordered a free game of our choice. Or at the very least a $20 coupon code.

In the end, the digital copy is worth buying so I don't have to change disks.. so I couldn't play for 15 minutes before going to sleep.. Not a big deal

It should be up this afternoon and downloaded by the time I get home. If not? Who cares? I'll be playing this game for an entire year anyways.

# 1316 tylorlenart @ 05/06/14 01:53 PM
The main reason i digitally ordered it digitally, because i wanted to get it at midnight without the hassle of standing in line waiting to get my copy. I have had times where i pre-ordered a game and when i got to the front of the line they ran out of copies, so thats also why i ordered it digitally to ensure ill get a copy the day of its release.

Also, you don't hae to worry about your CD getting scratched and it not working. Yes i bought all my games digitally thus far, except the ones that came with the bundle i ordered. Im going green, by not polluting the air by driving to gamestop. lol

This definitely is not the end of the world, but is very frustrating. Poor showing on Sony's part.
