MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

I don't even think Walmart carries it right now. It's not on their website and when I walked in to my local walmart at 7 in the morning they spent half an hour looking for it and couldn't pull it up in their system. Lady brings out two carts of street dates and nothing was in there. Grabbed mine at target and it's going to take forever to install fully.

The intro video is ****ing awesome tho

So, here's a game available to play right now...or maybe a riddle.

Billy has to be in bed by 10 PM, and can wake up at 6 AM to play a video game. Billy CANNOT be awake at 12:01 AM. What is Billy's profession?
Billy also has to wait 3 hours for the game to download, so Billy doesn't give a crap if it's available at 12:01am or 3:01am.

Also, Billy doesn't have a job. He just sits in his parent's basement and trolls on OS all day. Don't be like Billy.

If my credit doesn't go through I'll have two. Sell it online or to a friend and lose a couple bucks. Big deal.

When I was 20 maybe 21 I would have been up in arms at this happening, and dont get me wrong, im upset too. But I think as Ive gotten older Ive grown calmer when you realize its really antrivial matter. The game will come when it comes. I am off today and work the next two, so it would have been great to get it and play when I woke up this morning obviously, but that isnt gonna happen. Ill have fri-sun to play it so it is what it is, no fun for any of us, but we will make it through this, Im pretty sure of it!

Wal-Mart, Game stop - don't even have the game available at this point in my area. Nothing I can do but wait, it's a beautiful morning I think I'll go outside..

I know the SCEA San Diego guys must be absolutely livid, assuming the technical problems all lie on Sony's end. The Sony Blog Update is either saying that there is other issues at play or playing it off like it isn't their fault.

I don't know much about game development or sales but surely they won't sell as many copies by missing digital release. Us hardcore fans will buy no matter what but with possible negatively publicity on mainstream gaming sites will only seem to hurt the MLB: The Show brand and that is unfortunate.

People lose their jobs for stuff like that. At least in my world (IT). Realistically, they could have hardware failure on their side or the image was corrupted. etc.. A millions reason could be responsible for this delay but everyone who has work in IT for long time always have a Plan B and a backout plan to prevent situation exactly like this one to happen.

Its not the end of the world thought. For the thousands of hours I played the Show over the years, the 12-24hour wait, won't kill anyone.

I feel really bad for The Show team, seeing as this most likely isn't their fault. They worked tirelessly for months on this game and Sony can't release it properly for them. I'm betting their game is fantastic enough to make many people forget this fiasco though

Not sure why you're so hell-bent on believing refunds are impossible. Ah well, why do I care! I'm like that guy last night in here. Commenting in a thread that doesn't pertain to me. I'll go enjoy my copy now.

For the rest of you, if you truly want to play any time soon I suggest giving Sony a call and requesting a refund. I've never not received mine when told I would get it. Just got my copy from Best Buy!

By the way, just as a side note.. Sony is extremely kind about people wanting their money back with this. I would be willing to bet you won't get one bit of grief by calling in. So many people have already done it that it isn't even in question.

Got my copy an hour ago, got my Stanton cover, just gotta wait for it to download and I'll be set. Although it looks like the loading times people were talking about were no exaggeration.

Here's a suggestion instead of trying to get a rare refund getting duped by Sony again...go redboxing the game for a day

# 1260 Boshemy @ 05/06/14 01:16 PM
I'm still considering downloading from PSN after work, only because I'm thinking having it fully digital may cut back on load times? Is that the case?
