MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

You're right I forgot about that one and it's valid. Well, for some people, I should say.

I was asleep. I thought I'd just let the system work how it was designed to work.

I guess I could have assumed PSN would screw this up and just plan on buying a hard copy today.

But then again, I could have gotten into a deadly car crash on the way to Best Buy! Pheww, glad I didn't make that mistake!

You're already assuming everyones in the same niche. There's at least one million people trying to download the game atm and there are a variety of scenarios that you are dismissing. Your point seems to be "This is why I didn't pre-order, obviously everyone is the same as me" which is outlandish.

I just wanted to say, I just got off the phone with tech support.

They are outsourced from india, so you do have to deal with a bit of an accent (just a heads up). But the guy I talked with was helpful.

Said they couldn't give a time frame because they are maintaining the PSN. Then I requested a refund and he asked if I wanted it in my PSN wallet or my credit card.

So all in all, pretty helpful support. Didn't have to jump through hoops. And now im off to Wal-Mart

Wow.

Ok, now I have to say this feels like trolling.

I am totally p*ssed at Sony on this.

False advertisement. They have my $$, and I cannot download the game.

I had the same nice service from the people at Sony CS so I'll wait and see. I'm still thinking that if you show your displeasure without being arrogant, you get at least good service.

I'm really not trying to troll here. I don't understand it here, just as I don't understanding preordering on itunes, or preordering kindle books.
Some people are asleep at midnight. Did you hit your head or something or can you just not understand that?

Haha, I was just thinking, if I ordered at 9pm PST for overnight deliver last night, it would be here in a couple of hours.

Disclaimer: Now, overnighting the hard copy of a video game is a completely insane thing to do and I wouldn't actually do it.

I just explained it two you twice. Someone who wants to go to bed at a reasonable hour and wake up to a fully playable game is enough incentive to pre-order. Any other questions?

Have a question. I like many others preordered the digital version. Obviously it was never there to download at the 12:01 EST. So I went ahead and bought the hard copy a little while go. The question I have is say I download the digital version when it's finally up and then I want to sell the disc version. Do I have to delete everything that was installed from the disc or can the data remain on the hard drive after I downloaded the game digitally. In other words, do I have to reinstall the whole game again.

I've gotten kicked out of the live support chat queue twice now.

In line for my third fail now.

Been a great experience so far.

The words i want to say to you right now.

Look, we all know at this point we made a mistake trusting Sony. Pre-ordering for me was like I said, I decided that digital was the way I was going to go so why not just lock it up. What's to lose? (Now I know). You get excited for the game. You want to support San Diego Studios as soon as you can. There are a lot of little contributing psychological factors that go into the decision to commit all-in, as soon as you have the option. Plus, there WAS a bonus in points as previously pointed out.

And you haven't addressed my other point that it wouldn't have mattered whether you pre-ordered or waited until 12:30 and clicked "buy now". You'd still be in the same boat.

In my situation, I incorrectly followed the musings of the people on this board that said it would be a pre-load download a few days in advance that PS4 update 1.70 added. This was in fact not the case.

That's a good question.... I just did the same thing as you (it actually will end up not costing me anything), but I'm going to sell the physical disc once the digital version works

Got off the phone with sony at 1115. I was told it will be avail sometime between 1-4pst. Said that was unacceptable and asked for a credit to my psn wallet and was given a request number. Told it would take 3-5 business days.

I then got in my car, drove two minutes, down the road and bought the game. Even if sony doesn't give a refund, I'll just sell my physical copy on eBay or craigslist.

With waking up to see that the download is still not available, I do have some sympathy for those who don't have the game yet. The uproar is actually understandable at this point.
