MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

I could be wrong, but I think a refund to your card MIGHT be harder to pull off.
A lot more hoops to jump through I would imagine. Plus it allows your average joe customer support to refund things with no harm done, because sony still "technically" has your money in the wallet.

They had this same issue with Spider-Man 2 not being available at midnight.. But I guess that went unnoticed since it's not a big title release

I already requested a refund. I'll get it one way or another. I'll do a chargeback on my card if I have to. If they want to cancel my PSN account thats fine. I won't let them get away with this.

I wish there was a way to pay SCEA and the developers of The Show directly. That way they get as much of the profits as possible. Knowing Ramone, I feel like if this was in their hands, we'd have a lot more information.

"Wont let them get away with this" did they do something to your family or something? Sony is just so evil man.

Just forwarding my conversation with store support...

Jake: Is there any sort of time estimate? I'm very disappointed with the lack of communication;
Luis A.: I would really like to give you an estimated timeframe, but since the store team is working at this moment we don’t want to set wrong expectation, but I am pretty sure this will be fix soon as possible.
Luis A.: The most exact time would be at noon.
Luis A.: By that time the game will be available to download.

Yesterday I got my battle.net account locked, because I wanted to sign in from an unusual IP address.

Left a ticket at Blizzard Customer Service to call me back. In 2 minutes I got my call and a very nice lady solved all of my problems even giving me tips for future usage of the account.

Sony should learn from Blizzard...

It's a videogame. Stuff happens. What was so vital for a huge RICH company like Sony to collect 60$pp for a videogame before it is even released? Do they urgently need the money months before 12:01?

If it bothers them that much, they should raise a charity. We may help them.

Here it is. I've fixed it for you. Now take your trolling elsewhere.

I understand doing this and have no problems with it, but I'm sure there are plenty of kids begging their moms to buy them the hard copy because some CS rep filled them with false hopes.

Anothet story: I bought Baseball Prospectus on iTunes and unfortunatel I tapped on a previous installment of the book. I wrote to apple instantly and they gave me a refound in 2 days. You know I was the idiot, who bought the wrong book, but they gave my money back... thats what I call customer service...

All we get now from Sony is silence...

By the way, this is not San Diego Studio's fault. It is Sony's!!!

Well besides beating my wife they've stolen money from me and not given me a product. I'm sure they're collecting interest on my money as they have been since I pre-ordered.

I've seen the same copy-and-paste responses from their chat support in this thread. All with the same grammar and word-use mistakes. Odd.

I'm now being told by the rep that if I request a refund from my bank, that a debt of $59.99 will be placed on my account and my account will be frozen until that amount is paid off.

What in the world is Sony trying to do here?

I can deal with the delay, I get that things happen, but they are now pissing me off to the point where I'm about ready to put my PS4 on craigslist and never give Sony another penny for the rest of my life. It would take a 5 minute call to my bank to be issued a refund, I could call them during the 5 minute drive to the gamestop down the street to pick up my hard copy.

This is completely insane right now.

They keep saying noon, but I feel like that's just because it's the next hour.... I may go to gamestop with some gift cards I have to get it, but I'll still download it when it's available. I can always sell it on Ebay and get most of my money back... hopefully

Some companies you can purchase the game direct from them on their website.

I hope you're right. The whole issue just seems odd to me though. Updating the PSN store seems like an awfully simple fix for an issue they're currently trying to resolve.

I'd venture to guess that the issue is related to the 1.70 update that allows pre-dowloading. The Show is one of the few games that released after the update but before the pre-download feature was in effect (it will start with the Watchdog release). Seems like is could be a legacy issue. It's all speculation though

Did any other games release for digital download yesterday, and if so, any problems downloading?

As I drove to work this morning thinking about myself rushing out at lunch to pick up the CD for this game and thinking about all you peeps who failed to download the game last night, I had to remind myself that I better pay attention to the road and not get into an accident. If something bad like that was to happen, I would easily forget about this game.

So people have the right to be dissatisfied today (I am sure some heads are rolling at PSN and I sure as heck would not want to be the person(s) who messed up). But let's not forget, this is only a game. Soon we will all be playing the game and hopefully the PSN peeps will learn a lesson from this.
Great post. I like many others here pre-ordered the digital version hoping that it would be available for pre-load. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and like a lot of you stayed up until midnight in hopes of downloading the game over night, but alas the game was not available on the store for those who pre-ordered it.

It sucks that the game isn't available right now (especially to those of you who took the day off hoping to be able to play the game), but things could be a lot worse. At some point we will all be able to play this game so take solace in that. It's a first world problem we're experiencing right now and I sincerely hope that Sony's network team has learned an important lesson from this situation. We will all be able to play the game at some point so we all need to exercise some patience at this time.

Hopefully for the ones here who are trying to get refunds that they aren't dealing with too many hassles with Sony's customer service.
