MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show will be available as a Day 1 digital download at 12:01 AM EST on May 6th. (SEE UPDATES BELOW) Similar to how users were able to download the PS3 version, expect it to be available at that time, give or take a few minutes.

It doesn't appear as though you will be able to pre-download, as some hoped with the latest PlayStation update. VG24/7 noted Watch Dogs will be the first game available for pre-download, releasing on May 27th.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 AM EST, the game is still not available to download.

UPDATE #2: Due to unforeseen technical issues, MLB 14 The Show for PS4 is not currently available for download via the PlayStation Store. All parties are working as quickly as possible to remedy the issue. We’ll update this post as soon as a resolution is reached. Thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE #3: Based off of the many responses, the download should be available for everyone now.

I'd venture to guess that the issue is related to the 1.70 update that allows pre-dowloading. The Show is one of the few games that released after the update but before the pre-download feature was in effect (it will start with the Watchdog release). Seems like is could be a legacy issue. It's all speculation though

Did any other games release for digital download yesterday, and if so, any problems downloading?
No other game was day 1 digital today. Theres atleast one other game that can be downloaded when the store updates.

Thanks man. Nothing here has really gotten under my skin. I guess I haven't really considered the worst jabs as really referring to me because I'm not totally up in arms about this or anything. Just figured the people poking fun at those who are weren't talking about me.

It sucks that the game isn't available right now (especially to those of you who took the day off hoping to be able to play the game), but things could be a lot worse. At some point we will all be able to play this game so take solace in that. It's a first world problem we're experiencing right now and I sincerely hope that Sony's network team has learned an important lesson from this situation. We will all be able to play the game at some point so we all need to exercise some patience at this time.

Hopefully for the ones here who are trying to get refunds that they aren't dealing with too many hassles with Sony's customer service.
I'm not wanting to over exaggerate here, but it is quickly turning into the worst customer service experience of my life. I was fine with the delay, but considering I took today off of work, I wanted to play the game. That's fine, I'll just request a refund for my digital pre order and run up the street to pick it up. Except they are now telling me they can't issue the refund and will debt my account another $59.99 if my bank issues the refund.

30 minute hold to speak with an agent and another 45+ minutes to speak with a supervisor now. I wasn't pissed off in the beginning, now I am.

I said it earlier...because I was supposed to be able to get it at midnight!

Trust me, I've learned my lesson.

Dude, seriously what is up with you?

Do you work for Sony?

Do you have aspirations of becoming a mod at OS.

Your point is taken ok? We all know that you think complaining over a video game is ridiculous. We all know you have better things to do, although you are clearly not doing them, anymore than anyone else.

This isn't just about a video game anymore, I am not sure it ever was. This is about a major corporation, failing in a major way to deliver media In a way that they are trying to encourage people to use. Meanwhile, somebody today was probably on their way home for lunch, decided "hey, I will stop at this best buy and pick up the show." That dude is playing and people who gave them guaranteed purchase are not. Its a big deal.

Do you have low self esteem? I mean, do you just let people take things from you and be ok with it? I mean really. You had case at 1230a est, at this point, this is indefensible no matter how condescending you want to be. I think you are using that to deflect your own anger about this situation. LOL

Because they wanted to. Thats the true answer. Please dont start telling people how they should have spent their money.

My thought process was that if I pre-ordered it then at 12:01 it would start downloading and I'd be able to play for a little before I got up and went to work. Worst case It'd be done by the time I got home from work and I could just start up and go. If I started it RIGHT NOW it won't be ready to go until probably 7 tonight. Every minute the start time moves it inches closer to me having to go to sleep for work the next day. Now we're talking about not playing until Weds night.

well you dont have to go to the store and waste gas, you dont have to get up to change the game, no tax charge, could download it over night and play in the morning instead of having to wait till 11am. OF COURSE this being the only ****ing exception.

It's a small thing, but I really like having the game on my system without the need for a disc. It's not worth waiting an extra day to play the game though

With pre-ordering it, it was supposed to start downloading automatically at midnight. I got up at 7:00am this morning to play for an hour or so, but no dice.

I also mistakingly thought this game was eligible for pre-download so that I could actually start playing last night at 12:01am, but that was yesterday's disappointment

I'll answer you the same I did with my wife and mother since they told me I should go with the hard copy.

1. I save taxes, which for me was 12$. Not a big deal, I know.
2. It's ecologicaly more responsible to buy digitaly instead of hard copy. It's not a big deal, I know
3. I thought I could start the download, get to bed, hit the gym, came back home and install without having to make a cut towards a store to buy it. Again, not a big deal.

It's the 3 reason. I can also add that I bought a few games on the PS3 and PS4 and downloaded them without problems. Therefore, I wasn't expecting a problem with MLB 14 The Show.

What I should have done is read more about Day 1 Digital delays before pre-ordering. That's my fault on that part. Next time, I'll know better.

Well, I guess once I found out it would be available early through PSN I figured I'm going to buy it there anyway...why not just go ahead and pre-order. Didn't put a ton of thought into it. Didn't even consider that Sony might **** the bad this badly on it.

I guess I'm just not as smart as you.

How is it irrational ? Nobody could have predicted the game would not be available for download on time. What would have prevented anger is Sony coming through on their end of the bargain. Please stop trying to pin this on the gamers. Your just gonna further piss people off.

I'm not sure why some of these games are offered digitally by Sony -- I don't know about you guys but I'm sure I would be downloading this game for days before I was able to play it given the file size.

# 1179 alphamarcaphi @ 05/06/14 12:28 PM
got my refund from PSN via telephone.

They gave the whole working hard, available early evening.

Tried to refund it to my PSN wallet, told them no REFUND TO THE CREDIT CARD.

Promptly went to gamestop and bought on my way to work.

Any idea on how long download takes via hardcopy?

Auto download is likely the main reason, as in, leave it on standby, and it starts downloading while you sleep/do whatever. And if you were planning on going digital anyway, why not?

I pre-ordered digitally, and while it isn't ideal, it is whatever. I have a lot of work I am supposed to do today anyway. And if this is the worst thing that happens to me this week, I'm not doing too bad.
